| Biggles | posted 13-Feb-2005 9:04pm I've never done it and never seen it done, so I'll say no. If I ever learned to drive, I imagine learning how to do that would be something I would get round to. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 13-Feb-2005 9:06pm I don't know as I've never been in a situation where I had to do this. |
| ASB | posted 13-Feb-2005 9:21pm yes |
| Amanda | posted 13-Feb-2005 10:11pm Yep. |
| SueBee | posted 13-Feb-2005 10:53pm Yes, I've done it many times. |
| kirst | posted 13-Feb-2005 11:19pm I'm capable of doing it, but I'd call AAA if I was in the US. If it was here in HK, I'd call our office and have them call someone. (It would be very dangerous to change a tire here as there is typically no space to pull over and change your tire or do anything else, for that matter.) |
| BionicLips | posted 14-Feb-2005 4:02am Yep, I can change a tire. My father showed me how to do it when I was a little kid. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 14-Feb-2005 5:42am Yes, have done it many, many tymes. |
| icurok | posted 14-Feb-2005 6:10am I've never had to do it myself, but I've seen it done enough times to have a fair crack at it. All the required stuff is in the boot of my car and I know the right place to position the jack under the chassis. |
| thevelvetcure | (reply to gambler) posted 14-Feb-2005 6:36am Being that I've only owned trucks, this is my typical routine. |
| bill | posted 14-Feb-2005 7:34am I've done it once, maybe twice. Though, I would spell it "tire". |
| caviartaste | posted 14-Feb-2005 7:41am no....I get someone else to do it |
| Danger | posted 14-Feb-2005 9:15am No, but I can sure as heck call AAA! |
| jettles | posted 14-Feb-2005 9:38am yes, i can replace the tire on my car. i used to be really good and fast at it but i haven't had to change one in a while so it takes a bit more time. also the guns they use to put the tires on make it harder now! |
| Updown | posted 14-Feb-2005 11:40am Yes. |
| Enheduanna | posted 14-Feb-2005 12:32pm Yes, at least in theory. Although I guess I'd be screwed if there's not actually a wrench in the trunk, along with the spare. However, I am also quite capable of calling VW Roadside Assistance and getting them to come do it for me! |
| cerealkiller | posted 14-Feb-2005 1:28pm It's 'tires' to the rest of the world. |
| Biggles | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 14-Feb-2005 3:34pm So? We all have to put up with American spellings most of the time - nothing wrong with having a British spelling from time to time. One isn't superior to the other... |
| cerealkiller | (reply to Biggles) posted 14-Feb-2005 4:15pm I wasn't saying anything was wrong. You have to 'put up with' American spelling? |
| Biggles | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 14-Feb-2005 4:31pm They hurt my eyes |
| southernyankee | posted 14-Feb-2005 10:41pm unfotunatly no.
btw: is this a biggles survey. |
| southernyankee | posted 14-Feb-2005 10:42pm I guess not |
| Jemmy | posted 16-Feb-2005 8:14pm No, not at all. |
| Zang | posted 17-Feb-2005 9:57am Yes, I've even taught others how to do it. |
| Iseult | posted 19-Feb-2005 2:05am No, I don't think I can pick it up. At least my dad thinks I can't. |
| jasonmreece | posted 24-Feb-2005 6:52pm Yes I can. And if I stop to help someone on the side of the road, I teach them how to do it instead of doing it for them. I've done the same with my mom and sis....everyone (male and female) should learn how for their own safety. |
| Oscar | posted 3-Mar-2005 8:35pm It's tire, not tyre. |
| Starfish | posted 13-Mar-2005 6:01am Yes, I've done before and I know nothing about cars or mechanics... it's not that hard. |
| RaveDevil | posted 14-Mar-2005 10:34pm I'm not completely dumb when it comes to changing a tire. I've practiced before, but if I needed to change a flat, I'd probably be slow and inefficient to change it. My car know-how isn't the greatest.
And another thing, it's "tire", not "tyre". Unless you're from a different country and thats how it's spelled there. |
| darkroomdanny | posted 20-Mar-2005 5:40pm Yes. |
| smth_vkk | posted 31-Mar-2005 12:17pm It's easy i do it all the time!!!!! |
| gambler | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 3-Apr-2005 6:43pm Sorry, was bored and was going through my old surveys.......... changing the tyre like that is a pain.......... I know many people who purchase the rear door mount so the wheel is bolted on the back like a Land Rover discovery............its crap if someone rear ends you though |
| thevelvetcure | (reply to gambler) posted 3-Apr-2005 8:26pm I've never seen this on a pickup truck (in the US). It's somewhat standard on the SUVs |
| gambler | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 3-Apr-2005 8:33pm |
| thevelvetcure | (reply to gambler) posted 3-Apr-2005 11:44pm It's quite alright, I grew up calling a full sized conversion vans 'trucks' |
| gambler | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 4-Apr-2005 8:24am |
| patarnone | posted 10-Apr-2005 5:09pm Totally capable of changing a tire/tyre today. Use to do a lot of car stuff "back in the olden days" especially with my 1959 MG-A. We "blueprinted" the engine and got registered in the MG log, back in 1968 I believe. Loved that little car, it was red. |

Hate to do that if it was raining...... and even for your average capable person it would be a dam struggle
