No, because he's lying! Look at the link I gave during qual.
http://www.lottery.state.mn.us/ or this link:
http://www.lottery.state.mn.us/million.html you'll see that there hasn't been a win that big since August, 2004. State lotteries use computers and each lottery ticket and the numbers on it, whether preselected or picked by the lottery player are recorded. When the drawing occurs, the computer knows whether or not someone won before they come forward to claim their prize. That's why you see on T.V. or in the paper that someone won the lottery. The computer knows, but the name isn't given until the prize is claimed. This guy is bogus because there would have been some kind of indication on the Minnesota state lottery page if someone had won the lottery and if the guy had claimed his winnings, he would have been listed on the millionaire link that I gave. I suggest you go to VA and post this info and out this lying sack of crap!

No. I'd be concerned about their ability to manage the money, deal with taxes and other issues, and deal with people who want to deal with the money for them.

Yes. Oh, and it turns out the MN state lottery page was just slow to update.

Jealous? Nope, not really. I'm happy for the guy. Of course, if he's looking for something to do with some of that cash, you can always point him my way! * wink *

After reading Kate's post, I got to thinking. When someone wins the lottery, they always have media stories about them. Are there any newspaper or TV news links to prove this guy won? I mean, it's certainly possible that the MN state lottery page hasn't been updated, but surely there's some kind of news link that'll prove this guy won. Not that it really matters all that much. I think the point of your question was if we get jealous when we hear of people winning millions.

Envious maybe (though not really) but jealously for me has always involved fear of loss and that doesn't apply here.

No, it would be nice to have 1M so I could live off the interest, and help worthy people improve their lives...but guess what? I can't afford to play the stinking lotto.

Maybe Oregon is corrupt, but how can you force one ball out of 54 (or 60) in a wind tunnel to go into a tube?

I don't know. I don't play the lottery, but other states use similar methods. I doubt we are the only state to use a machine such as Oregon uses.

No. 1) I don't think he really did. 2) I've never been jealous of anyone winning the lottery before. 3) Am I supposed to be jealous of him (no) or you for knowing him (definitely no)?

Jealous? ME? NEVER.
Your friend is obviously so chronically co-dependent that he uses devices such as this post to draw reams of attention upon himself. And from your survey, I can only assume that either A.) you're too stupid to figure out that it was a prank or B.) you're also so co-dependent, that you are jealous that you didn't think of it first.
