From my Mom, I got an oak bookcase to go with my new bedroom set. (We recently moved, and got new furniture). She also gave me $250.00. I spent some of it on chocolate shower scrub and chocolate body butter. I also bought scrapbooking supplies. Haven't spent most of it yet! My sister got me a 20" flat-screen TV, a robe, and a cat desk calendar. Two of my aunts gave me $50.00 each. My friend Annette gave me pear shower gel and Caress lotion. My friend Pat (our work gift exchange) gave me a set of bath products, and a cute coffee mug with cats on it, and it was filled with candy and hot chocolate packets. I won a Christmas coffee cup with lid in a drawing at work.

I'll get majority of my Christmas presents when I go back to PEI. So far, I got money, money, more money, $240 to apply to Ontario universities (my dad's cruel's joke), chocolate, necklase with a Mjolnir, a $70 skirt. I also went shopping today, so those are the gifts to myself - two tops from Marciano @ $100 each (I just love Paris Hilton that much), posters (Smiths, Trainspotting, and Bob Marley which I will trade with my friend for a Beatles poster), a DVD of Smiths' videos, and a pair of jeans @ $70 from Zara. My best friend bought me something and she won't tell me what. gosh darn her!

Oh yeah, and I forgot, my friend took me to see Handel's Messiah for Christmas. Every valley shall be exalted!

My family always sends out Christmas lists beforehand, so everyone will have a place to start. But we end up getting a lot of stuff for each other that wasn't on the lists, too. I think lists are a great idea, because some people are really hard to buy for. Plus, sometimes there's something you really want that there's no way anyone would ever know about.

Ah, the most commonly asked question after the holiday. Here is a list of my gifts, may not include everything though. There was quite a lot.

$1250
2 Schick Quattro reusable razors with 12 extras
new Coleman boots
gift certificates for: coffee shops, the movie theater, car washes, electronics store and free gas.
a new wallet
Metal Gear Solid 3
Sledgehammer: the first season
2 dress shirts, a V-neck and jeans from Abercrombie and Fitch
Other assorted sweaters and clothes for the workplace
a therapy pillow (so soft & squishy)
socks & boxer shorts
2 new watches: one for everyday by Benrus and one for nice occasions by Gucci
2 calendars for the 2005 year (one with pictures of super bimbo Carmen Electra)
gum and candies
a new World Atlas
2 Japanese porcelain sushi trays and soy saucers
a new cord necklace
Under Armour Snowshirt for skiing...

I think that about sums it up. It's not what you get thats important though, it's what you give.

It's a pretty cool stadegy game. It's graphics are mediocre, (compared to Age of Emipres and all the spin offs), but I love the mechanics of the game. Then again, I know a thing or two about high level programming, so go figure. Duh, off course I would like it (even though I thought it was kick ass even before learning OO programing.). I own Civ 2, but I never got a chance to play Civ 3. I mihgt purchase it sometime this next year.

We don't exchange gifts with other adult family members. My family felt it was getting too expensive and many time the gift recipient either didn't like the present or it was the wrong size, color or whatever so it had to be exchanged. The adults just send each other Christmas cards but the children are still given gifts. We feel they are too young to understand why they aren't getting Christmas gifts. I gave my young cousins various toys for Christmas. I've always felt that Christmas is more for children anyway.

I'm a Metal Gear Solid convert. Having played nothing but Spyro the Dragon a couple of times on a PS - I decided I fancied trying something out. My brother recommended MGS since you don't have to kill many people as long as you can sneak. I completed it in about 14 hours, although I was on the easiest setting. Quite fancy playing MGSII now when I get a chance - perhaps in the summer. MGSIII isn't out here yet but I know my brother has an eye on it - any good?
RaveDevil
(reply to Biggles) posted 10-Jan-2005 12:42pm
Yes. Actually, I can recommend it to you. I'm nearly completed with the game now but I'll let you in on a few things.

The game is during the Cold War era. (early 60's) You're a CIA operative that has to drop into Soviet territory to rescue a weapons development scientist from enemy hands.
Your mission is also to infiltrate an extremist group trying to overthrow the Soviet government and plunge the Earth into a third World War. Some of the interesting things about the game include the use of camoflauge, cool gadgets and weapons and also the new ability to forage for natural foods to help sustain you. MGS 3 also takes place in far more natural environments (jungles, mountains, swamps, etc) than in just indoor locales.

Anyway, hope that helps and gives you an idea. Maybe you should pick it up when it gets to the UK.
