I don't love cats. Quite the opposite in fact. |
| joeyindc | | posted 13-Dec-2004 6:29am |
I love cats because they melt in your arms when you cuddle them. They don't leave your face wet when they lick you. They aren't loud and they usually love you and snub everyone else. They don't slobber on your pantyhose. They don't put their noses up your crotch. They can be outdoor animals without cleaning the yard or worrying about them causing lawsuits (for the most part). AND
They don't bark (rat you out) when you are trying to sneak into the house while your parents are asleep. |

companionship with minimal dependence |
| iamdonte | | posted 13-Dec-2004 7:39am |
I love cats because they are more independent than dogs. They have a wonderful personality. They aren't as loud as dogs....they rarely smell like dogs! |
| autumnlight | | posted 13-Dec-2004 7:52am |
They're cute. The way they mash their claws into you when they are trying to get comfy. My family calls it 'dunching'. When my cats sneezes or cleans her nose she is just the cutest thing alive. When she stretches. Or eats. Or cleans herself. Or curls up. In fact there is just not a time when cats aren't cute and loveable. They need you but can also tell you to piss off. They don't slobber. (except for my cat dribbles sometimes) |

I love the independent spirit, the companionship, the playfullness. |

I love all animals but I can't have them in my apartment - even a dog is too much to handle so I like cats. They're much smarter than people give them credit for. They're just really sweet little creatures! |
| Jemmy | | posted 13-Dec-2004 8:43am |
I wouldn't say I love cats. I like cats. I love some cats. My problem with cats is that, like people, they tend to be unpredictable. There are some very nice cats. But there are also some really dogy cats, and I don't like those ones. |

Cats are good if you cook them just right. |

icurok | | posted 13-Dec-2004 9:48am |
Why do cat lovers seem to describe their love of cats on the basis of how much they are not like poorly trained dogs? |
| caviartaste | | posted 13-Dec-2004 10:05am |
I don't....but my dog says they taste great ! |

| Pomeranian | | posted 13-Dec-2004 12:50pm |
Cats are cute, affectionate, personality filled animals that aren't too much of a hassle to take care of. |
icurok | | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 13-Dec-2004 12:55pm |
That's a rather tired cliché isn't it? |
jettles | | posted 13-Dec-2004 1:46pm |

I love cats because it is impossible not to! |
cerealkiller | | posted 13-Dec-2004 2:56pm |
Of course you can say I love cats. My house is full of them.
Why?
1. They are very affectionate. I don't buy that baloney that they are aloof and dogs are more affectionate. Proof is - whenever I sit down on the couch in the living room within minutes I'll have 5-6 cats on top of me. They won't leave until I get up.
2. They're intelligent (also can be a problem)
3. They're independent.
4. You don't have to walk them.
5. They don't destroy your yard going to the bathroom and leaving stuff for you to pick up.
6. They are graceful and fun to watch.
That's all I can think of at the moment. |

They have their own unique personalities.

I don't. |
| Danger | | posted 13-Dec-2004 7:49pm |
Cats don't just give anyone their love like dogs do. Their affection is reserved for a few special people, so getting it feels extra special. |
| darkshadowsseeker | | posted 13-Dec-2004 8:03pm |
Because they are cats...why else? |
Galomorro | | posted 13-Dec-2004 8:33pm |
CUTE (!!!) ; furry and strokable; clean (!); affectionate; independent; not as much work as dogs are, i.e., do not need walking and can use a litter box; intelligent animals; good companions; do not have a yucky smell; a meow is a softer sound than a loud bark (and more apt owners let you have a cat than will let you have a dog). |
they | | posted 14-Dec-2004 12:56am |
They're independent, they love me, they're cute... sneaky, entertaining, loyal, my kids. |
| Oscar | | posted 14-Dec-2004 1:04am |
Because they love you back.
And they're so damn cute and fluffy. |
| mysoren | | posted 14-Dec-2004 1:24am |
they are extremely regally selfish, that you are despearately grateful for any gesture of love or attention they choose to bestow upon you |
| ROCKMAN | | posted 14-Dec-2004 6:33am |
I don't love them or hate them. All my cats are barn cats and don't come inside. I'm a dog/horse person. I have let my horse in the house once. Only once. He kina came in on his own after I told him to stay in the yard. I went inside and laft the door open and he followed in right after me. |

Dogs don't do that! My dogs affection is reserved for me and my girlfriend. They don't warm up to many other people. They arn't mean by any means, but they tend to stay with me. |
Iseult | | posted 14-Dec-2004 12:11pm |
I don't love cats. Actually, I hate cats. They're a spawn of Satan.
They come close to you and rub off you, and then they jump on your lap and scratch you. Dreadful creatures. Unless they're big cats, like jaguars or lions. |
Frostbrand | | (reply to Iseult) posted 14-Dec-2004 1:01pm |
If it's a big cat, one could argue that that the jumping on your lap and scracthing would be MORE dreadful. |

I am indifferent to cats. |
| ASexyBabe | | (reply to icurok) posted 14-Dec-2004 3:02pm |
I don't think so. Some people of course are just plain animal people. |
romkey | | posted 14-Dec-2004 10:52pm |
Like so many other humans, the primal part of my brain that looks out for my young is easily confused by cats (more so than by actual children).
Where's Dino when you need him?? |
icurok | | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 15-Dec-2004 6:31am |
I guess what I find the most tiresome is the way dog owners and cat owners justify their love for their pet by listing all the things their pet doesn't do that they perceive the animal they don't have does do (e.g "My cat's so great. She doesn't slobber or make a lot of noise or dig up the garden or attack the postman or, etc, etc", "My dog's so great. She doesn't bring mice into the house or scratch my arms to shreds or cough up hairballs or ignore me, etc, etc").
The absolute worst sin of all though, is to take the best traits of one and the worst traits of the other and use it as an analogy to explain human behaviour:

I don't. There was one cat that I loved that used to come around to play - she would miaow outside the door until I went out. Then we got new neighbours and their cats mauled my friend-cat and she never came back I hate most cats. |
LindaH | | (reply to icurok) posted 16-Dec-2004 2:37am |
You're right about that! I can't stand analogies gone overboard. It just makes the point someone is trying to make that much more confusing. |
Zang | | posted 16-Dec-2004 11:32pm |
I generally like cats. I prefer cats as pets go. I don't think I would go as far as to say that I "love" cats. Some cats are certainly more lovable than others. |

I love cats...I more like envy them. They look at me with such contempt, or condescension. I wish I could look at people like that. |
