I read this question as asking for country citizenship, not ethnicity. So, I am an American citizen.
If you're asking ethnicity, them I'm what the forms say as "Caucasian, not of Hispanic decent". Euro ancestry - German, Dutch, Danish. |

Let's not go into this.
Okay, let's go. I am a carrier of Canadian passport, and although I love and support Canada, I am not a Canadian. I feel like I'm nothing. |

How are you a British subject but not a citizen? |
| Biggles | | (reply to Iseult) posted 11-Nov-2004 1:03pm |
Because of the monarchy. I'm a subject of the Queen. |

I consider myself Irish. My maternal grandmother was first-generation Irish. Both her parents emigrated from County Cork, Ireland. My paternal grandfather-not sure of his background, but I believe there was some Cherokee. I also know he was a direct descendant of Jesse James and the Dalton gang. (His first name was Dalton). Not sure about the relatives on my Dad's side. We were never very close to his side of the family. |

You don't live in Europe. I'm European. Maarten is European. You are American. That's what it says on your passport, right? Not to mention that "European" isn't a nationality anyway. |

Don't know with any certainty. Our family tree starts in the USA and with a Red Coat with the last name Taylor, who stayed here at the end of the American Revolutionary War. Someone has a letter that was written by G. Washington to him after that war ended. I have never actually seen the letter.
All of the family sir names are British on my dad's side of the tree; Taylor, Hughes, Smith, and Dockery are the ones I know. Of the names on the side of my mom's family that I know are: Millwood, Griffin, and Presley. Mom's mother said her folks were Dutch. I think Griffin is generally Irish. I never have much cared one way or another and I simply say that I am American, no hyphens. |

NOPE, you are both right.
Any American to the English is a Yank.
To the rest of the U.S. anyone from New England (North East U.S.) is a yank (yankee)
