| cerealkiller | posted 2-Nov-2004 12:46pm Started a bit early this year, maybe because it was on Sunday. I started getting kids around 5:15. |
| Enheduanna | posted 2-Nov-2004 2:52pm Ditto on my comment in the last survey. |
| pandora | posted 2-Nov-2004 2:59pm I have no idea. I wasn't aware there was a certain starting and stopping point for this sort of thing. |
| kirst | posted 2-Nov-2004 5:26pm I don't really know as there are no trick-or-treaters that come to our marina. Claire started trick-or-treating about 6:30 or so this year...there were already a lot of kids there when we arrived so I don't know when they started. |

| kaleb777 | posted 4-Nov-2004 7:54pm In Australia we generally ignore Halloween. Even if kids decide to trick or treat tehy probably won't get anything because people won't be prepared. We think it's kind of strange how the suposedly predominantly Christian US celebrates a pagan satanic ritual. |
| Biggles | (reply to kaleb777) posted 4-Nov-2004 9:49pm Halloween isn't Satanic. |

| justjulie | (reply to kaleb777) posted 6-Nov-2004 5:28am well...think about christmas as well. it's the same thing really. sure you get some of the christians who treat christmas as christs b-day...but c'mon. if you've ever seen commercials here starting right after halloween, we all know that this is no christian holiday. pure pagan, with the tree and everything. gotta love it |
| GalPal | posted 6-Nov-2004 4:16pm started around 5ish here... |
| kaleb777 | (reply to justjulie) posted 21-Nov-2004 2:59pm That's because all the politically correct leftist Christian haters try to remove any reference to Jesus. |
| kaleb777 | (reply to Biggles) posted 21-Nov-2004 3:03pm One story says that, on that day, the disembodied spirits of all those who had died throughout the preceding year would come back in search of living bodies to possess for the next year. It was believed to be their only hope for the afterlife. The Celts believed all laws of space and time were suspended during this time, allowing the spirit world to intermingle with the living.
Yeah, posession by spirits has nothing to do with Satan. |
| Biggles | (reply to kaleb777) posted 21-Nov-2004 3:06pm Nothing whatsoever to do with Satan, no. Satan is part of the Christian/Islamic/Jewish belief system - it has nothing to do with pagans who don't even believe in Satan any more than the pagan Easter has anything to do with Christ. |
| justjulie | (reply to kaleb777) posted 22-Nov-2004 5:14am it's all about politics, isn't it |
| kaleb777 | (reply to Biggles) posted 4-Dec-2004 1:32pm Not believing in something doesn't make it go away. |
| Biggles | (reply to kaleb777) posted 4-Dec-2004 7:41pm Yeah, and believing in something doesn't make it so. |
| element13 | (reply to kaleb777) posted 31-Oct-2009 4:31pm Well, the next time anyone I've ever heard of gets possessed on Halloween I'll be sure to stop celebrating. In my experience, it's a holiday where people charitably give candy away to children. I'm sure you've heard of Charity? Also known as the Pure Love of Christ? The same charity, which the Bible tells us "shall cover a multitude of sins"? Now please, shut up about us having our fun, and maybe you'll have enough time to figure out that Christianity isn't about being superstitious and judgemental, but about being a good person. |
| Emma9 | posted 31-Oct-2009 5:17pm Excuse me you idiot Christianity has nothing to do with being a good person. you could be a terrible person your whole life but if you believe in God and that jesus his son, died on the cross for you sins then he will take you. Christiaity is about spreading this on to unbelievers. |
