| thevelvetcure | posted 8-Oct-2004 4:57pm It looks just like you...some physical feature would |
| cerealkiller | posted 8-Oct-2004 5:02pm First of all I don't have any friends. Secondly if I did they'd be too old to have kids. Thirdly I think all babies are ugly so I'd avoid saying anything. Lastly I'd avoid having to look at the rugrat in the first place. |
| iamdonte | posted 8-Oct-2004 6:29pm I would say..."He looks just like his daddy!" |
| kirst | posted 8-Oct-2004 7:46pm There is always something attractive about a newborn...its tiny hands and feet, their smell, etc. I wouldn't say that the baby is gorgeous but I would say something true. |
| EyesOfCharisma | posted 8-Oct-2004 8:18pm I sure wouldn't say it was ugly, if someone said my kid was ugly, I would knock em into next tuesday. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 8-Oct-2004 8:29pm I wouldn't comment at all on its looks. Often ugly babies grow into drop-dead gorgeous adults. For example, my step-niece Dana looked for all the world like a baby orangutan, all she lacked was hair all over her body. Now she is a beautiful young woman and the proud mother of twin girls, both of them red heads just like mommy. She's gonna have her hands full! |
| BerrieGrrl | posted 8-Oct-2004 10:52pm i have yet to see a hideous baby, but i wouldn't lie, either. i'd probably just say, "oh what a sweetie" or something. and if you really think about it, all newborns look pretty much the same. |
| Kingput | posted 9-Oct-2004 2:04am Nothing.
|
| moonstone | posted 9-Oct-2004 6:53am all newborn babies are a little alien looking....but to me, they're always cute....i would always say your baby is cute because it would be... |
| gambler | posted 9-Oct-2004 8:25am Well, if they were friends i would say it was ugly but ALL Newborn babies are ugly , I remember my son , face all squished up, red, battered, head shape wrong, .......... |
| Irene007 | posted 9-Oct-2004 9:32am Would mention who the child looked like...
That's safe. |
| Irene007 | (reply to gambler) posted 9-Oct-2004 9:42am > Well, if they were friends i would say it was ugly but ALL Newborn
> babies are ugly , I remember my son , face all squished up, red, battered, > head shape wrong, .......... My son wasn't the cutest either - only a mother could love a face like that! I called him Pointy. Poor kid. But now he's 20 yrs old and very handsome yet he's not cocky about it; he just complains that all the girls he meets want to become permanent fixtures in his life! He's got the world by tail and he doesn't even know it... |
| MacGregor | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 9-Oct-2004 10:13am I agree! I had a nephew who had a terrible block head when we was a baby - it was truly difficult to say something nice. But, now we has grown up into a very cute little boy. Babies get so squished an misshapen when they come out, poor things! |
| bill | posted 9-Oct-2004 10:28am I feel this way about most babies and thus I generally don't comment about the looks of any baby. |
| Zang | posted 9-Oct-2004 1:19pm I don't know. All babies look pretty gross when they're first born. I think it takes at least a few day...when their skin starts to get adjusted to the atmosphere or something...before they really look cute.
I don't know what I would say. It would depend on the exact circumstances. I'm sure I would say something favourable and complimentary to the parents. That's practically mandatory. Whether or not I specifically commented on the baby's appearance would be subject to whim. There's a distinct possibility that I would wait until the baby did something and then say: "Oh, isn't she clever!" |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to MacGregor) posted 9-Oct-2004 1:42pm Exactly. Some people just have to grow into their bodies. |
| dora | posted 9-Oct-2004 2:34pm I wouldn't comment at all on its looks.

| gambler | (reply to Irene007) posted 9-Oct-2004 3:03pm My son is now 16, and is the perfect mix between myself and his Irish mother dimples and all and he is good looking too..................... |
| moviesnob | posted 9-Oct-2004 9:28pm Tell them their baby was so cute. |
| juliw | posted 9-Oct-2004 11:08pm Congratulations! He (or she) is adorable! (Because ALL babies are adorable!) |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 9-Oct-2004 11:10pm Congratulations on your step-great-nieces! They do sound adorable! |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 9-Oct-2004 11:22pm I'm certain they are. Unfortunately Dana lives quite a distance from me and the only thing I've seen is the photos taken at the hospital nursery. It's kind of hard to make out how they look as both of them are crying and their faces are all screwed up. About all you can see are their mouths opened wide and their red hair! |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 9-Oct-2004 11:33pm |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 10-Oct-2004 2:22am I love red hair, especially on children! I was a strawberry blonde as a child. |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 10-Oct-2004 5:03pm I was practi cally bald as a baby. My mom has pictures of me at age 4, when I only had as much hair as your average 2-yr-old! My hair now is a dark brown/auburn shade (OK-it's actually gray, but I keep it dyed!) |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 10-Oct-2004 5:09pm I don't know about when I was a tiny baby, but the pictures of myself at about 13 months show a full head of very curly hair. You can't tell the color of course, because the pictures are black and white, but I was a fair-haired baby. |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 10-Oct-2004 5:15pm Awww! Are you still blonde? |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 10-Oct-2004 6:18pm No, but I was a strawberry blonde growing up. My hair is almost completely white now, not gray, but white. My son was a blonde as a child, but his hair has darkened over time to be about the shade of his father's...a dark brown. Both my paternal grandmother and my father had reddish blonde hair when they were younger. |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 10-Oct-2004 7:13pm White hair is really pretty! My mom is totally gray (so would I be). She used to keep her hair colored, but some years ago, she quit doing that. My Dad had very dark (almost black) hair all his life, but with a little gray around the temples for a few years there. He did get a bald spot quite early though (late 20's). My sister had strawberry blonde, or actually reddish, hair as a young child. Now it is a medium to dark brown, with not much red in it. My maternal grandpa, I can't remember a time when his hair wasn't gray or white, but I think it used to be dark brown. My maternal grandma always had her hair dyed a nice shade of red, not real brassy like Lucy's. I think Mom said it used to be red or auburn, but with more red in it than mine. My paternal grandma had dark brown hair...she died when I was two, so I don't remember her at all. My paternal grandpa, rarely saw him at all (I think he was bald with a gray fringe). My Dad was not close to his family, but was very close to my Mom's family. I don't know the whole story. Mom just said it was his choice not to see them, not hers. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 10-Oct-2004 7:43pm I don't know about pretty, it just looks ordinary to me, but I don't dye or color my hair. I had some really bad experiences with hair dyes as a foolish teenager so now I'm leery of them. |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 10-Oct-2004 8:01pm Yeah, me, too, but now, I go to the beauty shop and have them dye it. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 10-Oct-2004 8:24pm I'm afeared to do that! |
| FordGuy | posted 11-Oct-2004 9:56am Gol Dang! Is that his face or his ass?! |
| Maarten | posted 11-Oct-2004 9:59am Damn... that's one UGLY baby! |
| icurok | posted 11-Oct-2004 12:24pm I'm really not the kind of person that would comment or be asked to comment about a baby. |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 12-Oct-2004 6:36pm It's not too bad. No major problems so far. (Knocks on wood). Hey, this is off the subject, but I have a question for you. I have a book at my house called "Cats and their Women." It is just that--pictures of women holding cats. Someone gave it to me as a gift years ago. Anyway, there is a picture of a women named Ann Briley, holding a cat named Spenser. Any relation? |
| Irene007 | (reply to gambler) posted 12-Oct-2004 8:50pm Any freckles? |
| Irene007 | (reply to Kingput) posted 12-Oct-2004 9:24pm > Nothing.
Were your babies cute? Mine were! |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 12-Oct-2004 10:13pm I don't know if she is or not. Strangely enough, my middle name is Ann. Briley is a fairly uncommon name and if she is related, it's by adoption only since I was adopted by my paternal grandmother (who was a Jones) and her second husband, my father's step-dad, my step-grandfather. I was born McFadden. My father never took his step-father's name. |
| gambler | (reply to Irene007) posted 13-Oct-2004 8:41am no........ |
| Irene007 | (reply to gambler) posted 13-Oct-2004 8:52am |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 13-Oct-2004 7:19pm Yeah, that would be kind of hard to tell whether or not you were related. As I may have told you, we are getting ready to move out of our house. While going through my books, I happened to see that picture, and knew I had to ask you about that. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 13-Oct-2004 8:59pm I wish I could have had an answer for you. |
| juliw | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 13-Oct-2004 9:25pm Oh, that's OK! |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to juliw) posted 13-Oct-2004 9:36pm |
| they | posted 14-Oct-2004 3:12pm All babies are cute. |
| thresholdking | posted 23-Oct-2004 11:21pm I would tell them like I tell everyone else, not being shallow or harsh, simply never been a big baby fan. I think they are all ugly, some more than others. When or if I ever have one, naturally or adopted only then will my opinion change. |
| Kingput | (reply to Irene007) posted 29-Oct-2004 9:00pm Like fudge! I saw your boy when he was born - butt ugly! |
