| magbast | posted 2-Apr-1999 4:58am we have a taco bell dog (rusty) that sleeps with us nightly..and the two cats join us from time to time, depending on their disposition... |
| wynkin | posted 2-Apr-1999 6:44am On the bathroom floor or in the shower (without the water running, of course!) Our dog is a bearded collie - big and hairy. The bathroom is cool. If we have the window open, she might sleep in on the floor in our bedroom. |
| Jody | posted 2-Apr-1999 9:26am where's the "I don't have a dog" option? |
| bill | posted 2-Apr-1999 12:27pm I have cats, they both sleep near my legs usually. |
| drdt | posted 2-Apr-1999 1:14pm Jody: also known as 'Abstain'? |
| they | posted 3-Apr-1999 9:07am What about the option for in his bed? What's the difference between in my bed and on my bed? I chose both... The little stinker lays right between us causing me to change my sheets way too often. |
| kristalynn | posted 4-Apr-1999 2:05pm She sleeps tied to the back door on the floor. That's where we keep her. |
| Jody | posted 5-Apr-1999 9:54am drdt - actually, when designing questionnaires, "I don't (whatever)" is very different from "abstain". I don't whatever-it-is means I don't - which puts me in a very different statistical category from "abstain", which indicates I do not want to answer this question, but could actually belong in any of the response categories for this question. |
| drdt | posted 5-Apr-1999 2:49pm Jody: but to the survey creator they are identical, especially since she cannot tell (or won't be bothered to tell) how many people have abstained, and will simply ignore 'I don't have a dog' answers. So you are asking her to do extra work to make the survey easier for people she doesn't care about not to answer. |
| Jody | posted 5-Apr-1999 3:09pm Actually, I'm asking her to add a category which many people add to help the survey responses be more meaningful to everyone. Many people here have explained why having inclusive categories is important, and many people now include inclusive categories so hopefully it's not TOO much trouble! It's like asking "how long have you been using Pascal?" and having year ranges, without even acknowledging that many people here don't use it at all. How many people can't answer the survey because it doesn't apply to them can be just as important as how many people fit in to the categories and respond. Just my two cents. |
