| laurel | posted 29-Jan-1998 11:02am i fluctuate between wanting to be cremated or buried. i would like to be buried if my body was allowed to go back into "nature" ie: become nutrients to replentish the earth. unfortunately, because of health reasons, they line graves so you can't leach back into the ground. sigh. |
| bill | posted 29-Jan-1998 11:11am I'm planning to do a funeral pyre for you Jen. |
| gilly | posted 29-Jan-1998 11:54am It doesn't matter a whole lot to me personally, but I suspect a traditional Jewish burial will mean the most to the people who care most. |

| fiore | posted 29-Jan-1998 3:55pm shot into space is pretty cool... |
| Twanger | posted 29-Jan-1998 5:29pm Outside of organs donated it doesn't matter to me. Leave me on the street, give me to some necrophilliac, i don't care, it's not me anymore. |
| hunter | posted 29-Jan-1998 6:36pm If Science wants my body, she can have it. After that, whatever leaves the smallest residue. |
| Paco | posted 30-Jan-1998 2:24am Organs donated, of course, and cremated (but, PLEASE, don't throw my ashes to the sea, the space, the return to the nature, or a piece of stupidity like this...) I'm sorry, Laurel (i wrote this before reading your answer) |
| Jaime | posted 30-Jan-1998 4:32am I Don't care... |
| Timmi | posted 30-Jan-1998 1:54pm I'm with Jen. Rip out my organs for transplant, then dance around my pyre. |
| weth | posted 30-Jan-1998 5:24pm I really don't much care, frankly. I hope that those who have this task are creative with my remains. |
| jefff | posted 1-Feb-1998 1:43pm Actually, I don't plan on dying. If neccessary, I'd like to be frozen and defrosted later (always did like leftovers...) If I do get whacked (accident, murder, etc) so badly that I couldn't possibly be brought back, then I'd like to have my organs donated and bury the rest (no nasty preservatives - let me compost!) |
| Artemis | posted 1-Feb-1998 8:04pm My goal in life is to experience everything, therefore, I picked them all. |
| julie | posted 1-Feb-1998 11:21pm I would loved to be put in a mousoleum, but it is to expensive, so I am going to be cremated. |
| Jimmy | posted 2-Feb-1998 7:58pm Cut me up and tear me apart, baby! |
| Dahlia | posted 9-Feb-1998 10:29pm Hmm, depressing topic. I always thought that I would like to go like the monks did. They would hollow out a tree and then be placed into it. As their body would decay, it would feed nutrients to the tree. Kind of strange maybe, but none the less what I find appealing. Returning to nature literally. But if I couldn't have that, then go ahead and shoot me into space. Maybe some aliens will find me and resurrect me. |
| seth | posted 10-Feb-1998 9:01pm I'd sell my body to the highest bidder and distribute the profits along with the rest of my estate. Presumably, this would encourage a useful application of whatever was left, and a cheap disposal of what isn't useful. |
| Dolemite | posted 1-Mar-1998 2:37am I'm split between cremated and donated to science. I really don't like to think about it much. My descendants can figure this one out. |
| Gamera | posted 3-Mar-1998 2:30am When I'm being reasonable my answer is "whatever will give those people who care about me the most sense of comfort and closure." I understand that my death is for them to comprehend. But I have irrational moments, when I image myself *feeling* that which is done to my remains. My body is so integral to my living self that the I that constructs abstract, logical, concepts cannot control this idea. I could not answer the question. |
| joe | posted 20-Mar-1998 3:44pm none of the above....placed in a glad bag and tossed in a dumpster |
| jjg | posted 17-May-1998 3:30pm Cremated then buried. Shot into space would be neat, but rather expensive (what is it $2k a gram?) |
| reality | posted 16-Jun-1998 12:46pm I picked shot into space..(ashes spread over the whole planet on re-entry) but i'd rather be buried in an unmarked grave without a coffin and not shot full of preservatives. basically, let me rot and go back to the earth as fast as possible. |
| dpolicar | posted 11-Aug-1998 12:25pm Whatever is done with my mortal remains, I'd prefer it weren't done seriously... or at least, that it weren't done solemnly. But honestly, I'd want the people I cared about most to do with my remains whatever would make them feel best about my death. I suspect at the moment burial would maximize that, but it could change. |
