| Iseult | posted 18-Aug-2004 3:18pm I'm active and my knees creak and pop and they can sometimes hurt.
I have weak knees. It runs in the family. |
| Enheduanna | posted 18-Aug-2004 4:06pm I'm moderately active, and my knees don't grind. Every so often I'll catch one of them grinding, but it's very rare. |
| justjulie | posted 18-Aug-2004 5:38pm sometimes my knees make interesting little sounds |
| caviartaste | posted 18-Aug-2004 7:33pm My mom is pretty active and has been for a long while and she has got rheumatoid arthritis in both knees - it does have to do with the more you use the joints...... She used an over the counter anti-inflamatory until it got so bad she had to get a prescription and sometime next year she will have to have a total knee replacement on the left. But she has alot of pain....so I don't know...arthritis is painful... |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 18-Aug-2004 8:03pm I'm moderately active, but I actually only have problems with my left knee which is probably a result of the hairline fracture I received after a minibike accident as a teenager. I have arthritis and the knee tends to pop when I over do (carrying too heavy a load such as a lot of library books) or when the weather is cold and damp. When the weather is that way my knee throbs like a bad tooth. When the knee pops it is painful. |
| mitachoo | posted 18-Aug-2004 10:39pm they don't creak or grind but they are painfull when moved in certain ways (trying to do the twist especially is hellish). Just started taking glucosamine for lack of anything better as I had a bone scan, fearing arthritis, but nothing was found. |
| dora | posted 19-Aug-2004 7:22am Yes, they pop and sometimes hurt and I'm really not an active person.
I have problems with my hands but they don't pop, just hurt (but I'm really active with my hands, typing, playing, I even get tendinitis because of it). |
| gambler | posted 19-Aug-2004 9:06am My right knee is a mess.............Torn cartilages both sides (removed) when someone presses their finger tips against it and I extend my leg it sounds awful |
| moviesnob | posted 19-Aug-2004 1:23pm I'm not very active, but my knees are fine. |
| Maarten | posted 20-Aug-2004 6:39am I'm not very active and my knees creak and pop and I rarely have painful knees.
I'm 35. |
| thevelvetcure | posted 20-Aug-2004 4:30pm Feel fortunate...I'm (almost) 25 and this is happening to me, I'd say I'm pretty active. I don't go running or biking, but I'm on my feet, up and down a ladder for 40 hrs a week. Sometimes, when I kneel down, I'll feel a really sharp pain in my knee *Oh yeah, and I think my knee went out of place once, not sure, b/c I myself didn't have to re-set it, I think it went back in on it's own. |
| Zang | posted 22-Aug-2004 2:48pm Other: I'm active and my knees sometimes pop, but never grind, hurt or creak. I'm 42, and I'm pretty sure that this sort of thing is simply a sign of aging.
Oh, and I also make the "old man noise" when I stand up. |
| kaleb777 | posted 22-Aug-2004 4:18pm No. Try glucosamine |
| gord | posted 22-Aug-2004 11:38pm As I stated, I'm active and have grinding painless knees.
I can't imagine it is good in the long run. For the last week I have been trying Glucosamine every day. No noticeable difference yet. Has anyone tried things that have worked? |
| ROCKMAN | posted 24-Aug-2004 11:41am I'm active and my knees are fine.
I an sometimes get them to pop i I do a deep knee bend, but that's on purpose. |
| icurok | posted 24-Aug-2004 3:00pm My right knee cracks more than my left, but it doesn't cause me any pain at all.
I had a problem with the medial meniscus on my left knee a few months back. It was a hassle to drive to work and I had to wear a knee strap for a few days until things loosened up again. And of course, I didn't miss the opportunity when asked why I was limping of replying, "Oh don't mind me, I've got a strap on". |

They also pop. I just twist a little and they pop easily.
I'm an active person.
It has nothing to do with abuse.
It probably has to do with the normal breakdown of the meniscus in your knee.
