How would you rank these contemporary game systems?

Nintendo has always appealed to children.
I watch kids with those clunky cumbersome controllers and think,
"what gives?"
Playstation has always been the adult video game system.
XBOX is trying to beat out the PS2 with better graphics,
but I am yet to see the same kind of versatility.
Xbox is a newer system. Gamecube is a rehashed formula.
Playstation has always had a by gamers for gamers kind of feel to it.

Oh, dreamcast, I've never played... but have heard it was well ahead of its time graphically and many are being collected now for unique gamplay and rare games.

Having NEVER played a video game in my life nor used one of these game systems, I cannot give any answers except this one.

I have a soft spot for the Dreamcast.

Rather than one group of six, it's really two groups of three. Of the newer platforms, I'd rank them PS2, Gamecube, XBox. Of the older platforms, I'd rank them PS1, N64, Dreamcast. The PS2 wins by a mile because it saves me forking out £100 for a DVD player, I can play my PS1 games on it, the range is greater and the controller design is my favourite.

I agree that N64 and PS1 don't belong with the others, but Dreamcast was really the first of the new generation (comparable to PS2/Xbox more than PS1/N64).

I've only played PlayStation, PS2, N64, & Dreamcast. PlayStation, I guess, because I can play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

I like the Playstations. My boyfriend likes the Nintendos. My sister likes the XBOX. No-one likes the Dreamcast.

I wouldn't. I've played on a playstation once or twice and that's it.

Yes, I suppose the Dreamcast was a halfway house. But it comes bottom of the pile for me because it was clearly a failed experiment. It came onto the market too soon and didn't have enough games to support what was already a weakened brand. Does anyone under the age of 18 give two sh*ts about Sonic the Hedgehog anymore?

Agreed, Sega's console days are over. It's sad. Though, the Dreamcast itself was a good piece of hardware. Other factors killed it.

I had one for about a year before I sold it off. I had a good time with it. Played Shenmue and Seaman on it (both remarkable games). I also enjoyed Omikron and one of the Legacy of Cain games.

But, yeah... I'm into my PS2 now.

You carry your qualification battles out into the open far more than anybody...well, these days anyway. I can't say that I'm above it. I usually just rate it bad, hide it and move on.

I don't like to hide from anything whether it be a survey or a user, but that's just me! BTW-my son is really happy as I helped him acquire a used PS2 Friday for his birthday on Sunday. I bought him 2 games as well. Until now all he has had is a regular PS. One of the games is "Legeia" and I can't remember what the other one is called, but I know he said it's a James Bond game. He'll be 24 on Sunday and he's ALMOST as stubborn as I am...not quite, but he's learning! Give him a few years.

I've never used any of them. I don't play video or computer games.
