| North79 | posted 16-Mar-1999 11:11pm I have never had to be in civilization without a bath or shower for more than three days, but I think beyond that would make me feel uncomfortable. In the wilderness is different story, I can go for WEEKS then so long as I can wash my face and brush my teeth on occasion. |
| Mattias | posted 17-Mar-1999 3:13am I'm starting to feel unclean after about 3-4 day's, but it wouldn't stop me from going to school/work. |
| jjg | posted 17-Mar-1999 7:57am I would feel unclean at the end of day one. I would prefer not to go into polite public at the end of day two. |
| phi | posted 17-Mar-1999 8:00am Fascinating. The average for men is 2.4 days, and for women 3.0 days. I would have expected the opposite. |
| they | posted 17-Mar-1999 9:44am One day... I have a lot of hair and if I miss even one day, it becomes oily. |
| dpolicar | posted 17-Mar-1999 9:57am doesn't affect my being-in-public much... I just start counting on deodorant and other artificial masking devices rather than cleanliness to cope. |
| supplicant | posted 17-Mar-1999 11:19pm Generally 3 or 4 days is my limit for going out without a shower, depending on where I'm going etc. But I shower every day in a work/school situation. I have gone for up to several weeks without a shower before, but I didn't go out during that time (the only thing that bothers me about not showering for too long is the dandruff and the itchy scalp). |
| drdt | posted 18-Mar-1999 11:17am When I start to smell myself, that is when I would refuse to go out. Time has nothing to do with it (I have lasted over a week before, out of laziness more than water lossage, and I have grossed out after a couple of days as well). I think it is a function of activity. |
| Jane | posted 18-Mar-1999 3:44pm Not more than a day or so. I have soccer practice almost every day, and I feel really gross if I don't shower afterwards. |
| supplicant | posted 18-Mar-1999 10:22pm If I waited until I could smell myself I'd probably shower once a year at best with my sense of smell :) I've never showered after sport (except swimming... which is a tad different considering you're already wet and wearing next to nothing :)). |
| pandora | posted 27-Mar-1999 8:27pm My hair gets too wild without a daily shower, and I feel too icky after that long. Not that I'm a big sweater or anything, don't get me wrong. |
| jaff | posted 4-Apr-1999 11:15pm it's disgusting to go out unbathed. |
| mandy | posted 5-Apr-1999 10:03pm UG! I am a clean Freak...I can't imagine leaving the house...without first showering.... |
| pandora | posted 6-Apr-1999 10:02pm This....could get old....really....really fast.... |
| Mandy2 | posted 11-Apr-1999 3:32pm 2 days. My hair gets all greasy and nasty. It's unbearable. |
