| lara | posted 12-Mar-1999 3:53pm It varies. I aim for weekly, but when I'm stressed out I tend to forget stuff. So then I have to keep going back to the supermarket. Lately I've been shopping almost every day. |
| drdt | posted 12-Mar-1999 5:15pm I buy food when I am hungry. Sometimes this involves bringing some home for later. Not often, though. |
| romkey | posted 12-Mar-1999 7:11pm about every other day, when I'm in Cambridge |
| Resy | posted 12-Mar-1999 7:58pm Maintaining a supply of fresh fruits and vegetables requires frequent trips to the market. |
| they | posted 13-Mar-1999 12:56am I'd say anywhere from biweekly to monthly... |
| bill | posted 13-Mar-1999 4:16am every week, like clockwork, always together |
| jjg | posted 13-Mar-1999 9:03am We do a weekly trip to pick up stuff that we use up during the week, then I do a trip to get fresh items as needed. |
| jettles | posted 13-Mar-1999 9:16am biweekly with some small amount of supplementing in between. |
| Mattias | posted 15-Mar-1999 5:52am I tend to shop for food more than twice per week but not daily. On average 4 times per week. My shopping frequency is mostly based on the amount of time I spend at home. The store is only 2 min. walk away, so it has been times when I shop 2-3 times a day. |
| Wicksy | posted 15-Mar-1999 8:49am biweekly, never heard of that phrase before !? |
| North79 | posted 15-Mar-1999 1:08pm **Wicksy: fortnightly? :) Just trying to cater to the American audience (wouldn't want to confuse anyone now would we ;) ) |
| Handle | posted 15-Mar-1999 1:26pm I think bi-weekly would be twice a week. The proper term for one every two weeks would be one of the following: bi-monthly, once a fortnight, semi-monthly, or thrice per hemi-semi-demi year.:) |
| lelle | posted 15-Mar-1999 2:53pm **handle: I was taught that 'semi' means half, and 'bi' means two, so bi-monthly would be every two months, and bi-weekly would be every two weeks. I was also taught that since so many people don't know the difference, 'bi' and 'semi' get used almost interchangeably, thus causing the confusion. |
| steve | posted 15-Mar-1999 5:20pm Lelle is correct. The Olympics, to take a well-known example, are now "biennial," meaning once every two years. "Biweekly" is similarly once every two weeks. |
| North79 | posted 15-Mar-1999 5:22pm Interesting! I meant Biweekly as in 'every two weeks' |
| reality | posted 16-Mar-1999 10:18am biweekly.. but bread and milk get replenished more often (milk is every 2-3 days) |
| phi | posted 20-Mar-1999 4:09pm From the American Heritage Dictionary: Bi-week-ly adj 1.Happening every two weeks. 2. Happening twice a week; semiweekly. It seems to me, however, that semimonthly can be used in place of biweekly or fortnightly. |
| mandy | posted 25-Mar-1999 9:02pm I have problems in the grocery store...I run up and down the aisles singing food jingles.... |
| thesweet1 | posted 1-Apr-1999 8:35am whenever the food the college gave us is unedible and me and my roomies are still hungry |
| Pooh_Bear | posted 8-Apr-1999 11:58am I buy it when I need it. |
| eris | posted 23-Apr-1999 9:10pm I excluded "quick run to the neighborhood store for a single item" trips. |
| mags | posted 25-Apr-1999 3:22pm sometimes it's weeks and sometimes it's months, really all depends on whether I'm in a cooking mood. I have been known to go weeks without cooking. |
