I'd really have to see the area, but I kinda like Wooloongabba. Has a nice ring to it. Does it mean something? |

Broadbeach, Elanora, Hope Island, Kangaroo Point, Leichhardt, Mango Hill, Runaway Bay, Tamborine, Undullah, Valdora, Zillmere. The ones with "oo" in them sound goofy. |

I like Noosa and Obi Obi...let's spice up the 'burbs a bit, huh? |

I think Elanora is especially elagant and upscale sounding and more appropriate for a Metro area.......Runaway Bay sounds secluded and maybe more private lots... Mango Hill....definately tropical location and beachy. Yatala and Zillmere could also be Metro....for todays fun, newly rich yuppie puppies. (new money)
Kangaroo Point, Hope Island and Broadbeach - I would focus these more towards High Bracket LakeFront Properties or BayFront Properties and the feel would be more towards Elegant, (and a little bit stuffier) old money. |

It's an Aboriginal word meaning "whirling around" named because after heavy rains the local creeks had many whirlpools caused by irregular beds where crayfish lived. |

The oo sound is common in the Brisbane area. On the other side of the country in Perth there are a lot of names ending in -up like Yunderup, Wannanup, Nambeelup, Carbunup, Metricup, Kudardup, Yoongarillup, Gunyulgup, Meelup, Yallingup, Quindalup, Milyeanup, Cookernup, Wagerup, Kabbamup, Wokalup, Joondalup etc etc. |

None you have listed, but I do like suburb names that contain the words "lake". There's a couple nice neighborhoods here in my area that contain the word "lake":
Lake of the Woods
Forest Lakes
Greene Mountain Lake

I make fun of ALL people. I don't discriminate. |
| kaleb777 | | (reply to Maarten) posted 16-Jul-2004 8:20pm |
That's good, but not really left-wing of you. You should learn that only white men, the West and America are fair game. You must be tolerant of all other feelings. Then you will be a better lefty. |
