20 I memorized my credit card number and expiration date. I have a thing for remembering numbers though. I can remember numbers of all sorts way better than I can remember what I did yesterday and with little or no effort. |

I guess 10.. a phone number with an area code.. 11 if you count the 1

10 digits usually (phone numbers). I have memorized the spelling of some really long words, though. |

Nine digits. My Social Insurance Number. You always have to write it on job applications, so I memorised it years ago. |

I did have memorized an old bank account number...I don't know how many digits it was, but it was a lot. I memorized it by its rhythm. |

I've memorized a whole lot of them.....I think I have a knack for this or something....I remember phone numbers really well after only being told them once....I know my DL number, all my bank account numbers, my Social Security #, my insurance group and member numbers, employee numbers, etc. I think the longest are my bank account numbers...they are 10-12 digits |
southernyankee | | posted 4-Jun-2004 11:36pm |
my social security: 9
my university id no: 7
current and past phone no: 7 each
(plus 3 counting area code), so 10
and thats about it, I think. |

 I guess you're right. |

My 14 digit telephone calling card number. The first ten digits are my phone number, so that made it easy. |
| Dino |
11 - my Mum's phone number. |
| Dino |
Or maybe its a sequence of numbers.
When I arrive in work - and just before I leave I have to phone up to transer the phone from the message service to our office.
First: Phone Number. 12
Then enter the switch code: 1
Then the reference number: 12
Then the code reference: 4
Then the switch node identifier: 1
Then select the branch (office or message centre): 1
Then sign off: 1
That's 32 digits. |
| ASexyBabe |
Do you also remember phone numbers from when you were a child like I do? I remember phone numbers I have not dialed in 20+ years! Damn I feel old now I remember x-boifreinds SS #'s husbands SS# all kinds of #'s But I suck at math.....go figure |

yeah - I used to do that more....but then I moved so much I finally lost track of those. But yes I find that I memorize numbers but am TERRIBLE at math! hmmm.... I can't even balance a checkbook!! weird!! |
| ASexyBabe |
That is odd that we share the same characteristics. I wonder how many others are the same way? Maybe someone needs to make a survey. |
| darkshadowsseeker |
Of course I'm right! Was there ever any question?? |
| darkshadowsseeker | | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 5-Jun-2004 9:42pm |
Maybe someone should because I'm the same way. I'm terrible at math, but I've memorized not only my 15 digit library card number, but also my son's as well. I've also memorized both of our Social Security numbers. I also can remember my son's old library card number (from when he lived in Springfield) and it's 14 digits long. Maybe you, caviartaste and myself are some type of savants like Dustin Hoffman's character in Rainman was. |
Kristal_Rose |
It used to be pi to 9 digits, but I know a few 10/16 digit bank credit account numbers now. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 6-Jun-2004 6:18am |
Yeah, I recall phone numbers and such from 20 years ago. Weeks ago, my neighbor asked me 'quick, catch the license number off that truck, and now, 2 months later, it's stuck in memory'. When I worked at the united way, I had remembered dozens of long account numbers for agencies and donors. It was a helpful skill, as a database query tech. |

I did take an online test for autism and got very high scores. I don't know how accurate of a test it was. I will have to try and remember where I took it and post it for you. |
| ASexyBabe |
Are you good at math? I never was. |

Just one thing--I'm not much of a young man anymore. I'm approaching my 40s (I'll be 37 in a couple weeks). |

I can remeber phone numbers. I've never really thought about counting the digits. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 6-Jun-2004 5:59pm |
I can't juggle numbers in my head, but I can visualize concepts well. I get A+++'s on calculus, chemistry, and physics exams, but am the last person to finish, when usually the other A students are among the first to finish. I can't recall the formulae, and have to derive my own formulae during the test. Anything sequential (changes with each step, different time states), has to happen on paper, unless it can be represented by a single graph or something. I can only think about one thing at a time, and can't even compare prices at the supermarket well. I'm likely to even forget I was comparing prices by the time I reach for the socond product. I'm one of those scatter-brained absent-minded professor types. Expanding the theory of relativity is easier for me than balancing my checkbook without losing my place. |

try a checkbook on the computer like Money I also have my own little tricks for math problems. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 7-Jun-2004 12:31am |
It's not difficulty with the math, it's keeping track of which items I've already checked off. The typical form takes me three times to fill out to make sure I didn't part of it. (I just reread my comment, as I typically do, and my comment demonstrates just what I was saying; that was supposed to read "The typical form takes me three times to fill out to make sure I didn't 'skip' part of it.")
I'm not a sequential thinker at all.
I'm a computer programmer (a very slow one) and have a very complex system to take care of all my budgets, projections, comparisons to actual, interest fees, wish lists, etc. |
SueBee | | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 7-Jun-2004 12:39am |
You should make a survey about that! I remember numbers quite easily, too, and have a hard time remembering things I need to do unless I write them down. I'm bad at remembering someone's name after being introduced to them, but if I see an unusual name written down I usually remember it. I'm good at basic math, but nothing advanced. |
| ASexyBabe |
I check and double check and then check the amount at the end and make sure they match, It is for the most part right. I have been known to put things in twice. I guess that better than leaving them out. |
| ASexyBabe | | (reply to SueBee) posted 7-Jun-2004 12:52am |
I thought about it and can't figure out how to word it. Maybe later

16 (Credit Card Number) |

30 digits is the most, but it's actually all the numbers I have to dial to call home with a prepaid long-distance calling card (access number, PIN and phone number). The longest single string of numbers is 16 for my credit card, with the 14 digits required for someone overseas to call me in second place. |
