I always liked the Flintstones. I used to watch them everyday, they were at 7pm... those golden days when they were on the prime time... I also like the Pink Panther, Tom and Jerry, and the Smurfs. He-Man kicked but. I know I used this watch this cartoon, dubbed from French, called Marianne. It had Marianne, and it was happening after the revolution, methinks, so there were all those sword fithts.

Pac-Man was my all time favorite when I was a kid. My mother liked the cartoon, too because all the characters were round (Except for the ghost monsters) I remember some of the episodes well. One episode Sourpuss (The Pac-Family cat) sent Chomp-Chomp (Their dog) in the front load washer, but it didn't work; therefore, Sourpuss went in and he got messed up, and he looked like a porcupine when he exited the washer.

I have never really watched cartoons and what I have watched I don't really remember.
Well, do you consider Wallace and Grommit (spelling?) cartoons? THEM I watch and I think they are great. Well, for sure they aren't from the 60s 70s or 80s. Never mind.

(reply to southernyankee) posted 5-Jun-2004 8:32pm
Q. Aren't a lot of these old cartoons racist?

A. It depends on what you define as racism. If you think that any portrayal of ethnic characters that is not as realistic as possible is racist, then maybe they are. But if you have no problem with cartoon characters be they black, white, Asian, Indian, or otherwise appearing exaggerated and (God forbid!) cartoony, then most of them aren't. Many of the stereotypes are undeniably ignorant, but most were not intended to be malicious. The ones which are very hurtful and irresponsible have already been banned from television and video, but the fact that they existed must not be forgotten, which is why they are included unaltered on this site.

no, I mean the extreme ones where black people all they did was eat watermelons, extreme ones like that.

though come to think of it, South Park potrays Canadians with floppy heads, and Japanese people in a very very funny way. But they do it as a satire on purpose, so I guess its a bit different.
