| moonstone | posted 27-May-2004 2:48pm No. I'm not rich. |
| Biggles | posted 27-May-2004 6:33pm No, I'm about £4000 in debt. |

| ElvisFan67 | posted 27-May-2004 7:47pm Like most of us, I WISH! |
| Zang | posted 27-May-2004 8:51pm There was a time in my life when I could delude myself that I might be sort of "middle-class". Ahh those were the days! I'd have to be making at least five times what I do now before I would consider myself "rich". |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 27-May-2004 8:52pm No, I'm po'! |
| MacGregor | posted 27-May-2004 9:46pm HA! NO! |
| iamdonte | posted 27-May-2004 9:47pm nope |
| BerrieGrrl | posted 27-May-2004 10:22pm i am the complete opposite of rich, if we're merely speaking in terms of cash. but i could care less because i'm a gazillionaire when it comes to being rich in everything else. |
| Violet | posted 28-May-2004 3:54am I'm a lot "richer" than I used to be, but I still can't afford grad school. |
| kirst | posted 28-May-2004 4:17am well off, not rich |
| bill | posted 28-May-2004 7:32am really hard to answer... I have more than some, though I know less than some others... um... I used to have more, so I don't feel so rich... also, I'm pretty cheap, so... um |
| justjulie | posted 28-May-2004 8:14am material monetary value alone, eh?
well then, i must answer a big fat NO |
| romkey | (reply to Biggles) posted 28-May-2004 8:19am Though I understand your point, one can be rich and in debt.... I'd guess that there are probably very few rich people who don't carry any debt. |
| Biggles | (reply to romkey) posted 28-May-2004 8:28am You might be rich and in debt if you own significant property, estate or investments. I have my laptop, which by now is only worth a few hundred, and that's about all I own that would bring me any significant money if sold. My investment is in my education, which has the potential to make me rich but it certainly hasn't done so yet! |
| freebird | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 28-May-2004 10:55am tell me about it, and then add 4 more dependents to that same amount and you'll see how poor the poor can be. |
| caviartaste | posted 28-May-2004 1:06pm no. dammit |
| mandy | posted 28-May-2004 2:01pm No, in fact I am the opposite of rich. I am moving out on my own in the world for the first time in my life with a teenage daughter to support. Rent is sky high, utilities too. I am so afraid I am not going to be able to afford to keep us fed....... BUT!!!!!!I am working full time and I have never been so excited in my whole life and I know that I will do whatever it takes to make it out there in the big bad world.........without any kind of assistance. Even if I have to take on a second job. Being rich would rob me of this chance to see what I am really made of. I'll be rich later, ok? |
| thevelvetcure | (reply to freebird) posted 28-May-2004 2:04pm *gives you a hug* Why is it the people with less money who truly need more are the ones that value it alot less? |
| LindaH | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 28-May-2004 2:10pm What do you mean, poor people in need value money less? |
| leahdoll | posted 28-May-2004 2:22pm No, I make enough to support myself in the best city in the USA (IMO), but not monetarily rich by any means. |
| thevelvetcure | (reply to LindaH) posted 28-May-2004 2:22pm I'm not saying that...but often is the cae...maybe my phasing is a bit off I'll say it from my perspective, and hopefully it will make more sense. "I don't want money, but need money." |
| LindaH | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 28-May-2004 2:24pm Oh, I see. It's priority based. When you need something, you only think about what you need. When you have what you need, then you can think about what you want. |
| romkey | (reply to Biggles) posted 28-May-2004 3:10pm Your education makes us all richer. |
| freebird | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 28-May-2004 3:38pm It seems that way doesn't it. Oh well life goes on. But that is what makes the poor folk more tolerant and conscientious sometimes. Thanks for the hug. I sure needed it. *hugs thevelvetcure back* |
| Iseult | posted 28-May-2004 4:10pm Me? No. My parents and family. Yes, very. Am I going to have much out of it. I doubt it. My parents are dumb enough to aid and leave everything to the 'heir apparent', which is my brother. |
| nasale | posted 28-May-2004 5:04pm Not the last time I looked, But I will win the lottery, if that helps. |
| Biggles | (reply to romkey) posted 28-May-2004 5:25pm |
| they | posted 29-May-2004 12:42am No.. I'm almost comfortable... by my standards. But most people would probably call me poor. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 29-May-2004 9:46am I don't know about rich, but I'm pretty well off. |
| cerealkiller | posted 29-May-2004 9:15pm I guess 'rich' is a relative term. Compared to the 'average' person out there, definitely compared to anyone in 3rd world countries, and probably alot of people here I would be considered rich. But by standards of where I live I am poor. An 'average' 4 bedroom house in the town I work in is $900,000. And that's a cheap house in an older neighborhood. That's why I drive over 50 miles each way to work. To have the same home for under $300k. |
| cerealkiller | (reply to Biggles) posted 29-May-2004 9:16pm That's not much by American standards. I think the average American is over $20,000 dollars in debt, mainly from credit cards. That's why I only have one, with a $500 limit. |
| cerealkiller | (reply to mandy) posted 29-May-2004 9:17pm You have a teenage daughter? What does she look like? |
| kaleb777 | posted 29-May-2004 9:35pm Relatively yes. In comparison to all other humans I consider myself rich. As an Australian I am middle class. |
| mandy | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 29-May-2004 9:37pm Back off NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Biggles | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 30-May-2004 9:23am Well, I'm not really old enough to be too much in debt. Especially as my parents support me during my vacations from university when I live with them. By the time I've done my PhD, then I'll be in some serious debt! |
| Dino | posted 30-May-2004 5:42pm No I am not - I have small spending habits and cheap rent so I get by. |
| ASB | (reply to bill) posted 1-Jun-2004 3:28pm I think your answer should be yes. |
| bill | (reply to ASB) posted 1-Jun-2004 3:33pm why do you say that? |
| ASB | (reply to bill) posted 1-Jun-2004 3:52pm Because of your house and the size of your property. Because you have lots of money in your wallet. Because your wife drives a BMW. Compared to me you are rich. |
| bill | (reply to ASB) posted 2-Jun-2004 7:05am I see, I should watch what I say around here I guess. |
| ASB | (reply to bill) posted 2-Jun-2004 7:45am Why? Do you think I will hunt you down and rob you? Trust me I am too poor to do that |
| bill | (reply to ASB) posted 2-Jun-2004 9:08am Well, I'm not as "rich" as it might seem. |
| ASB | (reply to bill) posted 2-Jun-2004 1:56pm Well, I never said you were Donald Trump but in my eyes you are rich. It is all relative to who is catagorizing I suppose. I would say a few other SC'ers are rich as well. |
| bill | (reply to ASB) posted 2-Jun-2004 2:19pm You don't know my finances or income either. I wouldn't call you "poor". |
| ASB | (reply to bill) posted 2-Jun-2004 2:24pm True but I am sure you make more than I do since I make zip, zilch and nada |
| bill | (reply to ASB) posted 2-Jun-2004 2:29pm OK, you win. I'm rich!
yay! Now, if only I was richer! |
| ASB | (reply to bill) posted 2-Jun-2004 2:34pm Everyone wants to be richer!!!!! |
| spidertea | posted 7-Jun-2004 6:48pm I am certainly not rich, but I am certainly not starving. |
