| Pomeranian | posted 4-Mar-1999 3:50pm Conan O'Brian has really grown on me. Oddly enough I will miss Tom Synder, but look forward to Craig Kilborn taking over the after-Letterman slot. |
| Jody | posted 4-Mar-1999 4:13pm I did in college, but I just can't stay awake that late anymore. David Letterman is my fave. |
| drdt | posted 4-Mar-1999 4:56pm More options please. 'I have mixed feelings about late nite tv'. 'I sometimes watch it if I can't sleep.' |
| jzp | posted 4-Mar-1999 5:01pm I used to like it, back when "they pelted me with rocks and garbage" was fresh and innovative. |
| hunter | posted 4-Mar-1999 5:07pm Do you mean the talk shows (Letterman, Leno, et al.)? I very rarely watch any TV and never turn it on for these guys. Or do you just mean "TV after midnight," in which case, I occasionally watch TV then, but not often. |
| lizzie | posted 4-Mar-1999 5:14pm I don't actively dislike late night TV, but I don't go out of my way to watch it. Usually I am in bed already. If there is an actor or musician I want to see, I'll tape it. |
| grmbrand | posted 4-Mar-1999 5:28pm Kill Your Television! Opiate of the Masses! Play video games instead! |
| they | posted 4-Mar-1999 6:07pm Other... I have a satellite dish and have to connect the antennae to watch regular tv so I rarely watch it. I do LOVE David Letterman. Usually I just watch movies. |
| bill | posted 4-Mar-1999 7:19pm I used to like it. |
| North79 | posted 4-Mar-1999 10:50pm Of the half hour a week I watch, it never includes any "late nite", Beavis and Butthead, Jerry Springer, fake pro wrestling or even South Park. |
| romkey | posted 4-Mar-1999 11:33pm I'm not really sure what constitutes late night television. I think as it gets later the shows get crappier, so I don't really tend to enjoy them. |
| bill | posted 5-Mar-1999 5:22am day time TV is crappy too, the best stuff is between 8-11pm |
| wynkin | posted 5-Mar-1999 6:58am This needs more options. I watch TV, just not late night. |
| they | posted 5-Mar-1999 12:33pm I HATE commercials... |
| Resy | posted 5-Mar-1999 1:34pm I like Japanese sci-fi movies ... bad stop motion photography ... out of sync mouth and sound. I don't know why, but it's very entertaining for me. |
| drdt | posted 5-Mar-1999 2:03pm Brian: I think that 'Late Nite' is the name of a particular TV show that was very popular in my country (USA), and so now people use it as a slang word. There is a set of nighttime programs called 'Nick at Nite' on cable now, which probably didn't help the situation any. |
| Frostbrand | posted 5-Mar-1999 6:24pm drdt: The US happens to be my country as well. As for Late Night TV, I was referring to the time between the end of the Late News, and the start of what bill calls Daytime television. |
| jettles | posted 7-Mar-1999 10:13am i like most late night television but don't like david letterman at all. |
| bill | posted 7-Mar-1999 5:01pm I used to like David Lettermen, but now I'm mostly unimpressed. Did I grow out of him, or did the quality of his output go down? |
| they | posted 7-Mar-1999 5:03pm bill... I think it might be the quality. |
| Handle | posted 7-Mar-1999 8:45pm IMO the funniest bit on television EVER was when Letterman had Larry "Bud" Melman set up a booth opposite the Soviet embassy. The quality has definitely gone down-hill, though. |
| supplicant | posted 7-Mar-1999 11:05pm bill: a bit of both I think, he was poor, but with regularish good moments in the past (all imho of course), now he's just poor. |
| jjg | posted 10-Mar-1999 10:14pm I don't watch late night tv. I do watch tv, but nothing past 10:00pm. |
| mandy | posted 6-Apr-1999 8:02pm god is in the TV |
| Frostbrand | posted 9-Apr-1999 11:30pm bill: Was Letterman ever funny? P.S. If you're interested in seeing an interesting movie, see if you can find a copy of The Late Shift. It's a movie about the rivalry between leno and Letterman. It's a good flick. It stars, Kathy Bates, Treat Williams, Sandra Bernhard, Peter Jurasik, and Rich Little. |
| bill | posted 10-Apr-1999 6:30pm Brian, I used to think he was - but I was younger then. I've seen Late Shift (and HBO movie I think), it was quite good I agree. |
| Frostbrand | posted 13-Apr-1999 1:06pm bill: Wasn't it though? It definately ranks as one of the best TV Movies ever (up there with Roots and The Stand). |
| bill | posted 13-Apr-1999 8:08pm Citizen X (another HBO original movie) was also very good. It is about a Russian detective, Stephen Rae, who tracks down a serial killer (in Russia). |
| Frostbrand | posted 14-Apr-1999 11:55pm bill: I saw that one too! HBO's Originals usually are good. Stalin, Mistrial, The Second Civil War, Afterburner, etc. |
