| bill | posted 26-Jan-1998 5:59pm pain can be worse than death |
| vanadium | posted 26-Jan-1998 6:52pm Heck no. I keep thinking of the demon in _Good Omens_ looking at some of the things humans do to each other in the name of Hell and thinking that no demon could ever have imagined them. |
| fiore | posted 26-Jan-1998 7:43pm pain and suffering are far worse. |
| KenShingo | posted 27-Jan-1998 3:53am Let's see, if I ever fall in love, my partner could become affaired, rob me blind, give me a STD, then I could be beaten and left to die only to suffer with a little life left in me and then be thrown in jail, raped, and then finally the worst thing that can happen is that network TV does a story on my life after all that. I would shoot myself. |
| Jaime | posted 27-Jan-1998 4:35am Hmmm... depends on the form of dead, of course! |
| Atzilut | posted 27-Jan-1998 1:19pm torture is worse -- a life of incapacity is worse. . .sometimes death is a release from suffering |
| djo23 | posted 27-Jan-1998 4:30pm Death is OK, pain hurts |
| Twanger | posted 27-Jan-1998 4:55pm Not at all. If I were dead right now I wouldn't feel anything, that's not so bad, in fact that's just about as neutral as it gets. But right now when my girlfriend of 2 years told me yesterday that she doesn't know if she in love with me anymore, that's worse than death. However, better things will come after this and crapft the equilibrium to the good side, better than the simple neutrality of death. The last 2 years have been incredible for me, but now it's time to take the bad with the good...and death is in the middle there somewhere. |
| Paco | posted 29-Jan-1998 2:20am No, death isn't the worst thing that can happen. I'm terrified about the release of Windows 98. |
| gilly | posted 29-Jan-1998 12:26pm I think being in a situation where you truly wish you were dead but are unable to die is far worse. |
| weth | posted 30-Jan-1998 6:01pm Being maimed and forced to listen to Kenny G would be much, much worse. |
| Artemis | posted 1-Feb-1998 9:06pm To quote Monty Python's "The Life of Brian" "What's worse than crucifixion?"(substitute this with death) "Could be stabbed!" "You're...weird..." Anyway, there are much worse things than death. Life w/out love, and stuff. |
| Pomeranian | posted 2-Feb-1998 6:58pm I think complete, abject failure is worse than death. |
| Ophelia | posted 8-Feb-1998 3:59pm Life can be a lot worse! |
| Beth | posted 8-Feb-1998 6:30pm I know some people using Survey Central say only negative things about the Bible, Christianity, and other organized religions. However, this is how I feel about death. When I die, it will only be the beginning of life for me. I'm looking forward to going to HEAVEN when I die. It will be so wonderful to go to a land of no sickness, sorrow, or pain. Happiness, peace, and love will surround us FOREVER!!! |
| booker | posted 13-Feb-1998 12:12am I just can't believe an otherwise apparently intelligent person can be brainwashed into believing that crap. Isn't there a small part of you that cares about truth rather than this elaborate fantasy? A part that knows that won't come true and that life is to be lived NOW, that any happiness, peace, and love we find will be without the help of a holy daddy? |
| calicocat | posted 13-Feb-1998 12:16am booker: she's a child, and she wants her fairytale. Let her believe her fantasy. |
| mcarlos | posted 13-Feb-1998 4:05am death is just another aspect of living. (per all your notations re: suffering - see my comment on what to do with my corpse). |
| Dolemite | posted 1-Mar-1998 4:21pm A painful life is worse than a painless death. |
| elijahblue | posted 2-Mar-1998 8:40pm depends on what kind of death. A quick and painless death probably doesn't feel like anything happened to you at all... |
| zoomie | posted 7-Mar-1998 9:59pm Worse would be to be unable to communicate - like having a massive stroke, and still have a functioning mind. |
| joe | posted 21-Mar-1998 11:17pm artemis: thats what i have :( |
| daver | posted 15-May-1998 3:59pm Not in the slightest..."death is not the worst of evils" |
| jjg | posted 17-May-1998 3:54pm There are several things worse than death that don't actually end with it that I can think of. How about emputation of your limbs and disconnection of your vocal cords? |
| reality | posted 16-Jun-1998 5:49pm Pain is the worst thing that can happen to you. if you die.. that is it.. nothing in life affects you anymore. |
| phi | posted 26-Jun-1998 12:00am And a good thing too, since it's inevitable. |
| seven | posted 17-Aug-1998 9:16am There is no perception after death, so life is the worst thing that can happen to you. |
| Lady | posted 8-Nov-1998 1:03am There are plenty of things worse than death. |
| pandora | posted 19-Nov-1998 7:34pm not at all. In fact, I'm looking forward to it quite a bit. |
| lizzie | posted 4-Dec-1998 4:47pm I would think that rape and torture could be worse. |
| anonymous | posted 4-Dec-1998 4:59pm I finally realized what is wrong with this question... I don't think death "happens to you" at all. You just end. The circumstances of how you died could be better or worse than other experiences. |
| Biggles | posted 3-Aug-2006 8:03pm No, dying is worse than death, and I imagine that there are worse things than dying too, |
