I often remember my dreams and those important ones stay with me for a very long times. I still remember dreams that I had when I was 9 and some of them I will never be able to forget.

I do sometimes, the last dream I remember was a few days ago. I was in Meatloaf's living room (I don't know why, I don't even like Meatloaf) and he was singing some dramatic song as he was walking around, and I acted like I really liked his voice. Then he got drunk and we went walking around. Suddenly Meatloaf turned into one of my old friends named Mike. We were walking all along some old time "Andy Griffith" shops and he kept spitting and puking. It made me walk faster as I tried to distance myself from him. * wry smile *

More than occasionally but not often. I would say often if I remembered them every single night, but I don't. I spend weeks without remembering details (I always remember I've been dreaming though), then for a few days I remember most of them, more than 1 a night also, though sometimes I connect the different dreams thematically and my brain reads them as one I suppose.
I'll tell you one, but later.

Not much lately. When I was about 19-25, I used to keep a dream journal next to my bed, and write down my dreams upon waking. When I did that, I would remember almost all my dreams. Now I usually don't remember them any more often than once every few months or so. Even then, I'll just remember sketchy bits and I tend to forget them within a few days. When I started on SC, whenever surveys about dreams came up, I would make them up. From my previous experiences, I have a pretty good idea what my dreams are like, so it isn't hard for me to make something up. I just got bored of it after a while.

Yes, I've kept a dream diary since 1968 because I have such unusual dreams, not every single night remembered though. The ones I like most are the hilly cities and public stairway dreams. I had one of these last night. I was walking all over a big city up and down favorite stairway-streets, and wanting to revisit a certain big city hill that I had visited in previous dreams.

I usually only remember my dreams for a short time, and they often don't really make sense when I try to explain them to other people. The only one that comes to mind right now is one I had when I was a child. I dreamt that I could fly, just a few feet off the ground. I remember that it seemed real, and it was a very cool dream!

I sometimes remember parts of my dreams..

In one I recall, I was in a room and Larissa walked in. She seemed sort of different and my other friends in the room, all said "yes, she's changed her personality". I said, "oh really", and everyone kept saying things like "yes, she's a different person now". After that I saw her walk in front of a mirror and her relfection was different than herself. I think this even surprised her. ... Later. Larissa had some drugs, so she opened a container and showed me. They were organic, like little tadpoles sqirming out of a fruit. I took one of the tadpoles and ate it. I don't recall what happened after that.

In another dream I was at some big holiday dinner with friends. But, my wife and I were seated away from everyone at a side table. They were all eating turkey and such, it looked good. but we didn't get any. Instead a friend of ours, Glen, brought over some Japanese food that he said was really good. I are some, but then found that it was made of plastic (sort of like that jagged green plastic garnish they put around ginger with sushi). Anyway, I started pulling it out of my mouth, and it just kept coming. There was a woman at the table with us and she was looking at me as I did this and I felt embarrassed. Then Glen brought over some brightly colored strips of leather and said they were good too. I think I tried one, but I don't remember the rest.

Yes, they are more or less in the same place I dreamed about them last time. Sometimes I will know the city I'm in, but the scenery is not the same as it is in reality. Strange, but fascinating. I do dream of the same scenery over and over again. It's a definite searching and strong longing for a certain neighborhood. Sometimes I see things in real life that remind me of things I've dreamed of before.

I have for years kept a notepad and pen near my bed so that when I awake, often in the middle of the night, the first thing I will do is make some notes about the dream when it's fresh in mind. Often I find it difficult to read my writing later because I usually scribble something in the dark.

Try putting a pen and notepad by your bed so the moment you wake up, you can jot down what you remember. If you don't do this, you will have the impression that you don't remember your dreams, they can be quite fleeting thoughts and dissipate almost as soon as you get up. I remember once, standing in the shower just moments after I got up and struggling to remember what was so clear in my mind a few moments before... I did this for a while, when I was in my 20s and some notes were absolutely illegible! Nonetheless, I helps you to remember your dreams and I guarantee you that you have some or else you would not be human.

I think it may have something to do with a past life in some or all of these cities -- not anything I can prove, but just something I feel, and the WAY I feel certain things -- hard to explain.... I know lots of people pooh-pooh such a possible explanation, but maybe certain people can just feel their past lives more than other people can -- it's like something you're just born with.

The toilet dreams are common to women. They often have situations where there is no privacy, like; the stalls are too short or non-existent, the door doesn't close or there's a gaping hole in it, it's just a curtain that doesn't close properly, etc... Some include a toilet that is overflowing with crap.

Apparently this dream is very common to women who need time for themselves. These women often live a life where they're tending to everyone else's needs but their own...

I ALSO don't remember my dreams...and I heard a theory about it when I was in a psychology class when I was studying art therapy. Now, it was a Freudian based class, so we were working with the assumption/belief that our dreams are saturated with sex and aggression. Our psyches find symbols to make these "scary" impulses less scary to us, which is why so many dreams are so "weird". SO, the theory is, that when our psyches don't find symbols which are far away enough from the "ugly" truth, it's built in that our brains won't let us remember.
So,,,,if this is ACTUALLY the case, it's a good thing.

Once before I vacationed to San Francisco for the first time I dreamed of 2 names on a SF map. One was "Cheney" and one was "Peralta." I got a map of SF, then traveled there and looked them up. I liked both of these streets-they were in neighborhoods I was attracted to, especially "Cheney" which I thought might be "Chenery." Proves nothing, I know.

They are kind of "exotic" I guess because they're hard to find. I have yet to find a purslane plant, yet this is supposed to be a common weed in some parts of the US. I found some at a farmers market once as a salad green and found out I loved the taste, and it's nutritionally beneficial too. I tried to root it but it kept dying. If I had a deck/yard/money, I'd buy tons of plants from online catalogs-there are plenty out there which have so many different kinds of herbs and other plants. I've ordered before from their catalogs and the plants got to me in good condition.

He said that he saw a name on a map and it really freaked him out - he can't recall it now. He just mentioned again that he's scared crapless of that book!
He just pointed out something that I had not realized; at the time he did that "travel", he soon started, what seemed like a rash on his hands. He was working around many new chemicals at the time and assumed he was reacting to one of them. He wore gloves to no avail. It got so bad that he was embarrassed by his hands and as soon as it looked like it was clearing up, new blisters would form. That's what it looked like, blisters... He eventually found a doctor that once saw this very rare condition - ( I've been searching and I can't find the name of it!) people with his rarer blood type are more likely to have it (and also be hemophiliacs) and the condition is caused by an enzyme that's lacking in the blood. Apparently, donating blood would help him as it would replenish his blood cells along with the missing enzyme. We're not sure of this... Anyway, he just pointed out that it has not reoccurred since that period... Think there's a connection? * wry smile *

Never heard of anything like this before now myself. But I think maybe yeah, the chemicals could have helped this sort of thing along. Who knows what various substances/chemicals can do to one. There's another possibility that some people believe actually happens: out-of-body travel. What do you think of this? I've felt several times that my dreams were "more than dreams." Also, a lot of people have definitely experienced lucid dreaming -- knowing you are dreaming at the time that you are dreaming.

He was higher than a kite on heroin though. And a laid down on the sofa and the next thing you know I hit the roof. I freaked in a way but it also felt good. I did know that if I left out of the room past the ceiling that I would not be able to return to my body. I was still lying on the couch I could see myself. Now when I dream they are flashback like (already happened to me) or someone in them will die soon. I am not kidding I hate to dream

OK The first time it happened to me, I was quite young, maybe 13. It was around the time The Exorcist came out so I believed that I was being possessed by the devil and crawled into bed with my sister afterwards. (I was a little old for that but it really scared me...) My whole body felt like it had the prickly sensation you get when a member is cut off from its flow of blood. I couldn't move, I couldn’t yell - I freaked!
This happened again a few years later, my girlfriend was sleeping in my room while I slept on the couch. I had sprained my ankle the night before and slept badly because of the throbbing. When my parents got up for work, my Mom gave me an aspirin and told me to get more sleep. I started dozing and that prickly sensation started, I had a real sense of being somewhere else. It looked like I was in some small village in Mexico with a little but nice Church; I was admiring the decorations on the building. All the while, the wind was blowing outside my home (for real) and I could hear it in my semi-conscious state and gave myself scares about it but at one point, I was really getting scared. I could feel a tingling sensation going up and down my spine. By the, all I wanted was to wake up but I realized I was paralyzed, I remember trying real hard to yell to Gina. Then suddenly, I felt as if I was lying down again on the couch (where I already was) and when my dream body got even with my real body; the tingling stopped and the pain in my ankle rushed back and then I really started yelling out for Gina!

Years later, after I had my first child; we moved into a house that some, to this day, say was haunted... For a whole month, every time I started to fall asleep, I would feel that paralysis coming on and literally had to force myself awake to avoid it. I could feel it coming on and it scared me. I remember the sense of floating around the room - always it seemed, floating around the light fixture on the ceiling. I've seen the top of an armoire there that normally requires a chair to get the same view I had while almost asleep. I discussed this with some people and they say that exhaustion combined with a semi state of sleep will cause this. It's true that at the time, our 5 month old daughter (not liking the move) kept waking up about 5-6 times a night. I really was tired during that period. Then again... Years after this, when we were all together (sisters, brother etc...) we got to talking about that house. One of my sisters told me that she was scared crapless once when babysitting, our very friendly dog started to growl seemingly at nothing. (My skin is crawling as I write this...) The very same dog did that to me twice. Then my husband started to talk about the spinning shadows, I looked over and my other sister had tears in her eyes (and she's the no nonsense one!). She then talked about sensations she felt when she stayed over in that house, she said that she had a feeling of spinning around and couldn't understand why because she only had a couple of glasses of wine! Much more happened in this house - but that's for another time. I just don't know if that place made me more susceptible to this kind of out of body experience. It eventually stopped.
Later on, after reading up on the subject (and moved away); I tried to induce a voyage on my own. It worked! The same tingling sensations came and naturally scared the crap out of me! That was a least 15 years ago and nothing has happened since...
What do you think of that?

Also I have had luck with vitamin C in the middle of the night -- but these are only to help remember dreams, not induce oobs. Unfortunately there is nothing I can remember doing or taking to help oobs along-these just happen for seemingly no reason. Doing psychedelics when I was younger did induce various "high" dreams and once in a while I still have these -- you feel in your dream just like you do when you're high. I wonder if there's an herb that I might try that is good for oobs, one that is safe to use, inexpensive and easy to find. I should check out oob sites on the Web more often.

thank goodness. I hate to see people in my dreams. And then I don't know which one (if there is more than one person) and how do you approach them and tell them about the dream and how they play out for you. They would think I was smoking something wierd. * grin *

What I read about them said that if you relax, totally relax - you can bring it on yourself. I don't want to try it again though...
Vitamin C and kava kava (what the heck is that anyway?) helps you to dream??

Yeah, it helps me remember my dreams more. Taking aspirin with C does too. Kava kava is a kind of herb from the South Pacific that helps people relax. The Internet would have lots of info on it. I like to experiment with different herbs. I used to buy one called mugwort but it's difficult to find and I didn't notice any big difference. I will try anything to try to sleep/dream better but I don't really know of anything that will bring on oobes. If I did, I'd take it if it was safe and reasonably priced.

I remember an anxiety dream that I had this afternoon. Someone was breaking into my home by crawling into the 2 story bedroom widow where I was sleeping. I tried to scream and my voice just cracked. I thought I had woke up but I was really still asleep. It was so real and confusing that I was not sure if it was real or a dream. Then I dreamt I was napping naked and woke up and the bedroom door was open. This would be a real big deal because I was not covered and the kids were home. I was very agravated by these dreams when I awoke. They were so real and seemed like these things could have actually happened in the hour that I nepped.

The second dream sounds like some of my anxiety dreams.

Do you snore? sweating when you sleep is a sign of sleep apnea. If you have sleep apnea and it is left untreated it can and will kill you. ASBT has sleep apnea......its SCARY stuff. Sleep apnea also prevents some people from getting to the level of sleep in which you dream. ASBT stopped breathing66 times when he spent the night at a sleep center. I think this is a very low number. He normally stops breathing more often than that if he does not use his bi-pap machine at night.

OMG!!! Kick him for me if he doesn't use it, and again from you! I don't believe I snore, b/c I think I once asked my ex if I did, and she said no. I have thought about being "studied" for the night sweats though

I've just remember another recurring theme in my dreams. I often dream that someone is outside trying to break into my house at night, and I'm checking to make sure all the doors are locked, but I can't get the sliding glass door to lock. I remember first dreaming that when I was a teenager after we moved into a new house with that type of door, and I have that dream every so often.
