| kitti723 | posted 26-Mar-2004 11:41am What about us girls? I think women have to walk down alot more roads and quite often in very uncomfortable shoes. Doesn't that count for anything? But then again, I guess it's easier for us to hitch a ride. |

| Jody | posted 26-Mar-2004 1:46pm "Blowin' in the Wind" is actually a pretty sad song. But "Polly Von" is really the saddest song on Peter Paul & Mary's "In the Wind" album. |
| Sahndya | posted 26-Mar-2004 2:11pm I've never understood this line. If they're saying "How many roads must a man walk down," they're already calling him a man! That's confused me since I was little. (Yes, I was a weird kid. Still am.) |
| freebird | posted 26-Mar-2004 3:16pm one---the road to adulthood, then he is a man? |
| anoddoblivion | posted 26-Mar-2004 3:59pm Blowin' in the Wind, I guess...
It depends on the chose of road. Forrest Gump ran really fast down that one road, and he became a man in no time he became a man...but if you plan on walking down Interstate 15 the you might never get the chance to become a man...And of that guy in "The Postman", he was obviously already a man but must not have realized it. |
| Enheduanna | posted 26-Mar-2004 4:47pm The answer is...blow him in the wind. |

| Galomorro | posted 27-Mar-2004 12:35am I used to be a big (early stuff) Dylan fan and some of his are still some of my favs -- Blowin' in the Wind was one. Hard Rain's another one. Jokerman. There are several others I will never grow tired of. |
| SPARKLE1 | posted 27-Mar-2004 1:57am If its a MAN walking down the road I guess it's however many he's walked. |

I should probably add this line to the site's documentation. |

| Sahndya | (reply to kitti723) posted 27-Mar-2004 12:17pm *laughing* Well... I don't quite think that. For some reason, qualification makes me nervous! But I don't hate it. It's constructive criticism. I think it's supposed to be helpful more than frustrating. |
| Zang | posted 27-Mar-2004 1:40pm Just the one. Well, none really, given that the state of manhood and the activity of walking down roads, really aren't related in any way.
I hope that the *survey creator* realises that, in the song, Bob Dylan isn't saying that "Blowin' in the Wind" is the answer to the question. Song lyrics often contain poetic devices such as "metaphor". In this case, I would interpret the song as asking; "What does someone have to do to be recognised as worthy of respect?" and then it goes on to suggest that if one really wants to know, the answer is out there, you simply have to be receptive. The song continues in a similar vein. |

| kitti723 | (reply to Sahndya) posted 27-Mar-2004 9:33pm everytime i open my mouth someone yells at me. i admit when i came here i was manic. truly. and i have apologized etc.. but apparently they won't let it go. i am absolutely misunderstood. well, i won't fret anymore. I was told to let it go after tons of apologies but it seems others keep bringing it up. fudge it. there's nothing else i can say or do w.o. offending someone. |
