How would you react if your nation's leader declared a dictatorship?

I don't think Tung Chee Hwa could do this by himself. However if the orders came from Beijing, then that's another story. Depending on how bad it was, we'd leave Hong Kong.

Knowing me I would get angry but do nothing - except of course surreptitiously live my life the way I choose.
Its a quite a scary thought really that I'm so sad as to do that. People wonder how dictators come about and who allows such things.

I would try to seek out others and decide what to do with them. I presume there would be some fairly large groups who would stand against this, so I'd probably get behind one of them. I suspect that my support would not likely involve violence, since I'm not very good at that, but I could support in other ways (resources...).

I'd probably try to move out of the country, maybe to Mexico.

I don't know. I probably wouldn't be surprised, if it were the current leader. Then I'd wait to see if the military stayed behind him. And I'd immediately join whatever resistance movement there was.

I'm not the fighting type, so if I tried to organize a militia everything would fall apart. So I would support those who do, and start to print illegal stuff, giving the "terrorists" (cos they will be called that way) support and maybe money...and overall doing illegal political activities that don't include violence directly cos it's not my thing at all.

I would be angry, but I'm not sure what exactly I would do. I've never really thought about it! I'll have to mull that one over...

I'd move to Canada, provided that some of you lovable Canadians could point me to the best spots to live, work, go to college, raise my kids, etc.

I would be angry,but not surprised. Then, I would watch and wait for a militia group to form. I don't have the cutting edge political minded-ness to organize, form, and maintain such a group.

My nation's leader is the same one UK has so we would not be the only ones suffering. And we're too far from her, I'm sure she already forgot about Canada. Anyway, I'd probably try to suck up for a duchy or at least a country (Duchess of Muskoka doesn't sound that bad?). Wonder what rank goes with municipality...

Probably begin with non-violent protests and writing to foreign governments asking them to intervene. If that did nothing, then an uprising of some sort would probably be in order.

I wonder how many of the people who said they'd go to another country oppose immigration to their country from non-democratic nations?
