| jettles | posted 12-Feb-1999 11:46pm i think he is sorry, it may not be for the reasons we would all hope that he is sorry but i think he is. i do think he knows how much he has hurt his family, particularly his daughter! and he is sorry for that. |
| elijahblue | posted 13-Feb-1999 12:02am I think he is sorry that he got caught, and sorry that he wasn't immediately let off the hook, but I do not think he is sorry for committing adultery, lying to the American people, hurting his family, committing perjury, obstructing justice, and in general demeaning the presidency. I watched the speechlet he gave after being found not guilty by the Senate, and as he once again mouthed words about being sorry, he had a smirk on his face the entire time which conveyed how pleased he was with himself. "Slick Willie" is an apt moniker. |
| hunter | posted 13-Feb-1999 4:37am Yes, actually. I think fooling around with floozies is a personal neurosis, connected with his charisma and power. I don't think it's something he does that he thinks is a good idea, it's just something he does. I don't think he doesn't know that it's wrong. And I think he is especially sorry that he got caught in something so ridiculous. |
| bill | posted 13-Feb-1999 9:16am I think he's sorry he got caught. |
| jjg | posted 13-Feb-1999 10:08am Yes I believe he is sorry. No matter what he does for the rest of his presidency the only thing he will be remembered for is being the second President to face an impeachment trial. |
| seth | posted 13-Feb-1999 7:07pm I'm sure he's sorry that his actions led to the impeachment hearings. |
| bill | posted 14-Feb-1999 8:16am Oh, I might as well mention that I think this survey is pretty biased. Had there been some way to express that I felt the whole series of events that lead up to the impeachment trial were bogus and a waste of time, I would have liked that. The Republicans (and the American people) funded a very expensive witch hunt against the President of the United States to go after him on sexual misconduct. I don't think sexual misconduct is worthy of such funding, it all should have been delayed until after he was out of office (though at that point the Republicans wouldn't have cared). Sure Slick Willy made misleading statements, sure he lied about his sex life - I don't think that has much to do with leading our country. His enemies (mostly Republicans and the religious right [same thing?]) used this scandal as a way to diminish a popular and effective President's power. We should all be disturbed at how much success they had with these tactics. |
| refinnej | posted 14-Feb-1999 2:25pm I believed (and felt sorry for) him when he so vehemently denied having "sexual relations with that woman-- Ms. Lewinsky," so this gullible fool doesn't know WHAT to believe anymore! |
| Ynot | posted 14-Feb-1999 4:47pm i think he's profoundly sorry he got caught. |
| Jody | posted 15-Feb-1999 9:41am I doubt he's any more sorry about this than he has been about other philanderings in the past. He may be sorry he got caught, but that's not the same thing. |
| reality | posted 15-Feb-1999 11:31am I am not sure, nor do I care. it is over. finally. |
| grmbrand | posted 15-Feb-1999 11:44am I don't know, and I don't care. If I were him I'd be stuck in a perpetual state of flipping the bird to all of the republicans and their dog Ken Starr... |
| anonymous | posted 15-Feb-1999 4:31pm Honestly, I don't really care all that much. I'm pretty sick of this whole thing. |
| dpolicar | posted 16-Feb-1999 5:49pm I'm sure he's sorry it all turned out the way it did, but I assume that's not what you mean, so I checked not sure. He might be sorry about cheating on his wife, if in fact he did so; then again he might not. |
| reality | posted 17-Feb-1999 12:26pm *sigh* according to the radio this morning, they are looking into a contempt of court thing against Clinton because of the testimony in the Paula Jones case in which he said he didn't have sexual relations with Monica... Also, I had seen something else that said that Starr would be investigated because people in his office had contact with the Paula Jones lawyers' office at the time that he asked to expand his inquiry.. he said he hadn't had contact with those people.. so it is apparently not over.... will it ever be? |
| presti | posted 17-Feb-1999 2:16pm Nope. I think he's really glad he got away with it though. |
| jonathan | posted 17-Feb-1999 4:24pm I think he's sorry for getting caught, not for what he did. |
| supplicant | posted 19-Feb-1999 12:38pm I don't actually care, but I think it'd be naive to believe he was sorry, if he was he would have fessed up earlier - he's probably profoundly sorry he got caught though :) |
| North79 | posted 19-Feb-1999 12:38pm He is a sleazebag and I cannot believe the naivete of the American public. People like him make the USA look bad! |
| jefff | posted 21-Feb-1999 2:00pm And I don't care. Really. |
| thesweet1 | posted 2-Mar-1999 2:31pm It was none of our business anyway...all politicians have cheated |
| mandy | posted 7-Apr-1999 8:48pm I think he's sorry he got caught |
| eris | posted 27-May-1999 9:46pm I think Clinton is really "profoundly sorry" that his actions led to the impeachment hearings. |
| anonymous | posted 28-May-1999 7:46am he's sorry he gave Hillary VD |
