Which, if any, of the following strategy games do you play?

If you don't play strategy games, please just select "I Don't Play Strartegy Games" and leave. I don't think you should give me a bad rating simply because you don't play those particular types of games. That's just plain mean.

Of course chess is a strategy game. Can anyone come up with a more suitable name ?

Brian : Saying what you've said in the comments is just an excuse for people to rate it bad. Say nothing, let people make their own choice and maybe, just maybe, you'll get some good marks. Just for the record, I rated it good

I've been playing Go recently because a friend is into it. Also, there are a bunch of great games coming out of Germany these days that a variety of friends have been playing. Namely, "Ur Suppe" (you play an ameoba in primoridial soup), "Elfenlands" ("traveling salesman" game), "El Grande" (set in Spain, you vie for control of provinces - the mechanics are subtle though)... oh, there are a lot more. Apparently, Germans play games way more than American and thus they have some good games being developed there.
I play a steady stream of computer games, many not listed here.

Brian - this is a pretty good survey and the rating is showing that. I'm sorry that you seem to be really defensive about the criticism you've gotten. If you keep making surveys like this, you'll be in good shape.
What's good about this survey: you didn't complicate your answers with additional comments like "What is this? Foot In The Mouth Part III? Be original for once!". Again, you are not giving us a chance to react positively to your survey, and that tend to cause a negative reaction.
What's bad: this is minor but you once again put your question in the explanation. So, I moved it. Also, you had put a "this is risky..." comment in your explanation that I got rid of too (because I thought you were being overly defensive).

I play Monopoly. And Dungeons & Dragons. Those are kinda like strategy games.

I marked the ones I've played in the last year. Notably missing is Go.

I play many different strategy games. Most recently a whole lot of German games like Die Siedler and Tigris & Euphatis. I also love Pente.

Diablo isn't a strategy game. therefor Diablo II isn't.. it is basically a highly graphical version of hack (or nethack or rogue or whatever). It is fun.. and I have spent far too much time playing it.. is diablo II actually out yet?

You forgot Go. It's not clear whether you mean "know how to play/have played" or "play currently/on a regular basis" (my answer is based on the second). Good survey.

I do play a strategy game called "Guess the Traffic Pattern". I play this game five days a week. Sometimes I win (30 minutes or less to get to work) sometimes I lose (over an hour to get home). It's great fun. Occasionally a surprise is thrown into the game, like when the 18-wheeler dumped 30,000 pounds of grapes on the freeway. BOY did I lose that day!

I played a lot of Risk when I was younger, but haven't played in years.

Back in high school, I would play Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. I haven't played a table top strategy game in ages.

I would argue that Space Hulk is more tactics than strategy...

Kingmaker, Junta, Panzer General, Squad Leader, Steel Panthers, Gettysburg, Empires at Arms, Rairoad Tycoon, Diplomacy, Soldiers at War, Birthright, Axis and Allies, Colonial Conquest, Western Front, Carriers at Sea...you can stop me when the geek meter has reached it's maximum.

Age of Empires - the best stradegy computer game currently available.
