| romkey | posted 4-Feb-1999 12:50pm I went to libraries a lot when I was a kid; sometimes when I was a student and basically never now. |
| bill | posted 4-Feb-1999 12:59pm There seems to be a correlation between SC users and libraries. So, I just wanted to see if that's true. |
| hunter | posted 4-Feb-1999 1:23pm When I had the privilege of living with a librarian, I really enjoyed being able to request books, have them appear on the kitchen table, read them and leave them back on the table with a note saying "Thanks!" Now that's the way to experience libraries! Without her, I'm too lame to actually get there on my own. |
| Mimi | posted 4-Feb-1999 1:26pm I am such a supporter of public libraries that it puzzles me why more people aren't in them & taking advantage of all the great programs & services & free books & videos. I love working in a public library & I usually enjoy working with the public. I am pleased to see how commonplace the use of the Internet has become. All ages are using our computers & learning how to 'surf.' We are addicted. I have lived where there were no libraries & I have lived where the only library was in the British consulate. I think you have to go without before you realize how important they really are. |
| reality | posted 4-Feb-1999 1:41pm I am sorry to say I had to choose never for both.. I haven't been to a library in years.. (but I do have a good collection of books). |
| gilly | posted 4-Feb-1999 1:48pm In high school I used to work in the library around the corner from me. When I move, one of the first things I try to find is the nearest library. I usually go every few weeks and take out a big stack of books. I'm such a bookworm that I can't afford to buy as many books as I read, and I wouldn't have any place to put them if I did. |
| doom | posted 4-Feb-1999 3:01pm I worked in the town library when I was 15 and in the school library throughout high school. I enjoy libraries but I have a severe problem with returning books on time so it is sometimes cheaper for me just to buy the book to start. :) |
| steve | posted 4-Feb-1999 3:04pm I used to go to a library very often, when I was a graduate student. I now go very rarely, although I keep meaning to go and get a particular paper that I want to read. |
| Jane | posted 4-Feb-1999 3:13pm I go to the library after school every day to do my homework. Its nice and quiet. Working there is so much easier than at home. I can concentrate, because there is nothing to distract me. |
| eris | posted 4-Feb-1999 5:03pm I used to spend a great deal of time in libraries as a kid and in college, but it has tapered off to almost none since then. I regret this somewhat, but it seems like I have more other things to do with my time now. One factor is that I spend a lot more time indoors during work than I spent daytime indoors in school, so I am less inclined to do indoor activities for recreation. |
| Pomeranian | posted 4-Feb-1999 5:20pm All through High School, I worked as a page at our local Junior Library. I absolutely loved that job, and it really kept me sane throughout High School. |
| Guthrie | posted 5-Feb-1999 4:53am My local Council is trying to close 5 local libraries and my connection at the moment revolves around campaigning to keep them open |
| Mimi | posted 5-Feb-1999 6:52pm Guthrie: I feel sorry for your community. I'm wondering: Is your council as illiterate as mine? Keep up the good work & I hope you prevail. |
| they | posted 6-Feb-1999 12:11pm I don't go as much as I'd like too.... Libraries relax me... the smell, the hush, the books... I just moved so I haven't found the library yet... |
| drdt | posted 7-Feb-1999 1:51pm Every time I go to the library, I never come out again... so I don't do it very often. |
| dab | posted 8-Feb-1999 8:57pm I went to the library a _lot_ as a kid but very little in the past 15 years. |
| jzp | posted 9-Feb-1999 3:39pm I used to go to the library all the time. |
| sam | posted 10-Feb-1999 7:21pm i worked in the chemistry library at my undergraduate institution and have a particular fondness for academic libraries. prodigious, dense prose and intense theoretical argumentation really blow my skirt up. |
| jayp | posted 11-Feb-1999 10:03am Professional Librarian working as a consultant in a regional support service for Northern Ontario Public Libraries |
| SearchN4U | posted 13-Feb-1999 5:28am I used to go to the library often until I got this computer. Now I can find all the info I need right here at home. Much easier! |
| pmca | posted 14-Feb-1999 6:15am I love all the resources that are available on the Internet. |
| North79 | posted 19-Feb-1999 1:02pm Love the library. Could spend all day there. In fact I think I'll go right now! =) |
| buttons | posted 19-Feb-1999 11:04pm Extremely rare. Haven't been in about 2 years. Who needs to? I can look up anything on the net 24/7. |
| patty | posted 5-Mar-1999 7:02pm I read many books so I go to the library often & I like the books on tape too so I'm at the library often about every 2 weeks or so. |
| pandora | posted 5-Apr-1999 4:02pm I go there sometimes, when I'm bored, but I can't check out books, because I still have some that I checked out a year and a half ago. I don't know what's wrong with me. |
| mandy | posted 8-Apr-1999 9:09pm I am a library addict.....we go constantly |
