| ElvisFan67 | posted 27-Nov-2003 7:49pm When they were still together, I had many opportunities to see the Statler Brothers play in their hometown in Staunton, VA, just across the mountain from where I live every 4th of July. But I never did go. |
| Biggles | posted 27-Nov-2003 7:50pm http://users.ox.ac.uk/~ootb/ I'm going to see them next Wednesday evening as part of an end-of-term treat |
| Biggles | (reply to Biggles) posted 27-Nov-2003 7:51pm Wait, can anyone else even open that? Or do they have to be on the uni network? |
| Zang | posted 27-Nov-2003 9:06pm I'm listening to Tangerine Dream right now, and I wouldn't mind seeing them live. They've played here before and some of my friends saw them, but I missed it. I had a ticket to see them two years ago, but the tour got canceled due to a certain political situation that happened here in North America. BTW, thanks for the link! |
| Zang | (reply to Biggles) posted 27-Nov-2003 9:12pm It opened for me! I'm pretty sure I'm not on the uni network... |
| Glassa | posted 27-Nov-2003 10:17pm We've seen Kiss in concert 5 times. But I'd still like to see them again, but in the first row. Same with Bon Jovi. Dead: I'd like to see Elvis. |
| thevelvetcure | posted 27-Nov-2003 11:28pm To date my absolute favourite musicians (and show) that I've seen was the Cure for the Bloodflowers tour in 200 in West Palm Beach, I drove 4 hrs to see them play at an outdoor ampitheater. They played approximately a 3 hour set. It was awesome. I would like to see (or have) seen Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Cream, Lennon, Tom Petty. Marilyn Manson, and NIN would be cool to see as well. |

| bill | (reply to Zang) posted 28-Nov-2003 8:07am I saw Tangerine Dream once (10 years ago?)... It was a couple guys surrounded by equipment (computers and keyboards mostly). Not much of a show, per se, but the music was good. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 28-Nov-2003 8:19am Theres a lot of them I'd like to see but probably won't because I'm just not that much into music. I like to listen to it but It's not a big deal to me. |
| Zang | (reply to bill) posted 28-Nov-2003 9:41am Yeah, that's what their shows generally look like (and have for more than 30 years!) although I think they usually have some sort of elaborate light show; lasers and such... They are the only band I'm aware of, that has become kind of "the family business". Edgar Froese is the only member who has been with them since inception (1967). His wife Monique Froese has been doing all the album covers since the first release. His son Jerome Froese began working with the band in 1987. |
| ElvisFan67 | (reply to Glassa) posted 28-Nov-2003 10:18am Ever seen an Elvis impersonator? You can always do that--it's the next best thing. |
| Iseult | posted 28-Nov-2003 10:34am CRADLE OF FILTH!!! Dec 19, Friday, 2003. I am seeing them. |
| Iseult | posted 28-Nov-2003 10:45am Anyway, beside my most favourite band ever with the most sexiest singer ever, there are several other stuff I would really want to see. For one it's David Bowie. He's in Toronto on Dec 12, but since I'm going to Cradle of Filth, I won't be able to afford $60 for Bowie. Other stuff are Anathema, Bauhaus, Burzum (when he gets out of the prison, that is... if he), Dead Can Dance, Finntroll, HIM, Iron Maiden, Marylin Manson (but it's going to be crass, because of all those 'Spooky Kids'), Ozzy Osbourne, My Ruin, Nosferatu, Rasputina, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, The Smiths, Therion, and Theatre of Tragedy. |
| Pomeranian | posted 28-Nov-2003 1:00pm I am looking forward to seeing David Bowie early in December. |
| Amanda | posted 28-Nov-2003 1:11pm The Eagles, Kid Rock, Cher, Eminem, ZZ Top, Randy Travis, and a ton of others. As you can probably tell, my tastes in music vary BIG time. |
| ElvisFan67 | (reply to Amanda) posted 28-Nov-2003 1:49pm I like Randy Travis, too. Also Alan Jackson and George Strait. They're my top three favorites of the male country stars. |
| Amanda | (reply to ElvisFan67) posted 28-Nov-2003 2:02pm Alan Jackson and George Strait are both pretty good. Out of those two, George Strait is probably my favorite. |
| Biggles | (reply to Zang) posted 28-Nov-2003 2:11pm I'd be scared if you were. You could actually be one of my scary lecturers just pretending to be Canadian and far away! |
| ElvisFan67 | (reply to Amanda) posted 28-Nov-2003 4:14pm I like many types of music, too. The only ones I don't care about are rap and heavy metal. In rap, it's really no music to it at all--just talking to the beat of drums. I like something with a melody. And heavy metal is just too "cutting edge" for me, and I don't like its rather violent nature. You say that your musical interests vary, too. I guess that makes you an Elvis fan as well, right? |
| Glassa | (reply to ElvisFan67) posted 28-Nov-2003 5:44pm Yeah, I've seen Elvis impersonators, my step-dad even does it. I just don't think it's the same. |
| dora | posted 28-Nov-2003 6:05pm The Pogues Bright Eyes Whiskeytown and lots of others...like dunno..The Clash... |
| msgman | posted 28-Nov-2003 6:22pm Of the big name bands, the one that I'd most like to see again is U2 - I saw them live in London a couple of years ago, and it was probably the best gig I've ever been to. If I could bring back an artist from the dead, then it would be Rich Mullins. I'd like to have seen Pink Floyd in their prime, but I'm not sure that I'd want to see them now. There are loads of other bands that I wish I'd seen as a teenager, like Blondie, The Buzzcocks, The Sex Pistols and The Undertones, but I'm not sure I'd like to see them play on a comeback tour - it would spoil it, I think. Having said that, The Buzzcocks are playing here next week - I might just go along. |
| Iseult | (reply to ElvisFan67) posted 29-Nov-2003 9:28am Actually, there is a lot of types of metal, if you care to explore them. What you're talking about is the raw black metal, which most people don't like at all. There is doom metal, which doesn't sound like metal at all, but more as a new-age, relaxing kind of rock that will have growling vocals from time to time. There are also highly melodic types of metal, such as progressive metal (Dream Theater) or opera metal (Therion). Metal does not have to be violent, it's just a stereotype. While there are highly gory, screming-and-suffering filled types of metal, such as Death Metal (personally favourite), you can always find something you'll like. |
| Iseult | (reply to dora) posted 29-Nov-2003 9:29am What kind of music does the Clash play? |
| Dino | posted 29-Nov-2003 9:33am Kate Bush but she's not done so since 1979 and vowed to never tour again. |
| dora | (reply to Iseult) posted 29-Nov-2003 9:55am None right now. They used to play punk rock in the 1970's-1980's with a bit of reggae and ska influences. Actually they are the most famous original punk band along with Sex Pistols and the Adverts (which I like a lot as well). |
| Amanda | (reply to ElvisFan67) posted 29-Nov-2003 12:43pm I've never really listened to Elvis. When I have heard it, I've never paid much attention to it. I might have to go buy some Elvis music and check it out. |

| Iseult | (reply to dora) posted 29-Nov-2003 5:02pm I just started downloading those songs. Yes, I like Christian Death, but I absolutely forgot that they exist. I listened to them last year more than I do now. |

| Traviedoll | posted 13-Dec-2003 1:59pm Well I am not a fan of concerts. Some people have great voices but when they are in concert they sound so much differnt that i don't like it. Plus i get headaches easy, and I don't want a headache. I've been to A concert. A WEIRD AL concert of summer 2003 and it was wicked awesome! If there was any concert I'd go to again, it'd be that! and avoiding bands, I want to see CATS life. I'm adding that to my thingy................... |

Do they think they can shock (or even impress) people from Amsterdam with drugs and sex??? To us the MM show was very innocent and a bit childish. Like little kids who want to shock their parents by saying fudge. |
