| bill | posted 3-Feb-1999 11:35am quantity? I'm happy with one. |
| lizzie | posted 3-Feb-1999 11:59am Lots, I hope. Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year, and I don't care if it was created by card and flower companies to make money. |
| hunter | posted 3-Feb-1999 12:08pm My mom usually sends me a card and Jason will probably be unlame enough to do something. |
| jjg | posted 3-Feb-1999 1:24pm One, maybe two. One from my wife and possibly one with my daughter's name written on it. |
| Mimi | posted 3-Feb-1999 1:30pm I can count on my husband, children & the little ones at storytime, but I'll bet the puppet I play straight man to gets even more. |
| steve | posted 3-Feb-1999 5:59pm Mimi: I had the hardest time parsing that sentence. First I had you betting the puppet, i.e. wagering such that, if you were incorrect, the puppet would be forfeit. That broke down when "gets" appeared in place of whatever you ought to have been playing straight man to, so I tried again, getting the right sense of "I'll bet," but then "the puppet I play" became the puppet that you portray. An interesting image, to be sure, but not an enlightening one. Third time was the charm. |
| Mimi | posted 3-Feb-1999 8:03pm steve: You're right & you made me chuckle. That's what happens when I do this too early of a morning when I'm in a hurry. I have no delusions, that ugly, ornery puppet is much loved. |
| they | posted 4-Feb-1999 3:03am maybe one... dunno... guess I'll find out soon enough |
| they | posted 4-Feb-1999 3:06am um... I still can't figure out your sentence Mimi :).... help me?? maybe it's just too late for me ;) |
| wynkin | posted 4-Feb-1999 6:17am From my husband, God bless him! |
| Mimi | posted 4-Feb-1999 8:22am they: I work with a goofy puppet one morning a week for storytime & the little ones seem to think he is very real. They bring him special gifts & his haul is always more than mine so I am betting he gets more valentines than I do. That's what I get for being his straight man. (It's early morning here & I hope this makes a little more sense than that original sentence.) |
| gilly | posted 4-Feb-1999 11:20am Shouldn't that have been "the puppet to which I play straight man", then? (Ooo, ooo, do I get the grammar star?) |
| bill | posted 4-Feb-1999 1:14pm I had to dust it off and shine it a bit, but you got it baby! |
| reality | posted 4-Feb-1999 6:00pm that would be a big 0.... I don't have admirers. I have (or had) fans.. but those are mostly people who think I am fictional anyways.. |
| they | posted 4-Feb-1999 6:22pm thank you Mimi... I stared at that sentence for a while, read steve's comment, stared at it for a minute longer... and gave up... I was wondering what anything had to do with a puppet and how steve figured it out... ;) |
| patty | posted 15-Mar-1999 4:27pm Valentine's Day for me is like another Christmas day I got lots of cards this year and other presents,I always get lots of presents on Valentines day from friends and family |
| mandy | posted 8-Apr-1999 9:32pm lots and lots ...I'm loved and spoiled....but I give as good as I get..... |
