With Valentine's Day fast approaching, how many cards/flowers/gifts do you think you'll get this year ?

Lots, I hope. Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year, and I don't care if it was created by card and flower companies to make money.

My mom usually sends me a card and Jason will probably be unlame enough to do something.

One, maybe two. One from my wife and possibly one with my daughter's name written on it.

I can count on my husband, children & the little ones at storytime, but I'll bet the puppet I play straight man to gets even more.

Mimi: I had the hardest time parsing that sentence. First I had you betting the puppet, i.e. wagering such that, if you were incorrect, the puppet would be forfeit. That broke down when "gets" appeared in place of whatever you ought to have been playing straight man to, so I tried again, getting the right sense of "I'll bet," but then "the puppet I play" became the puppet that you portray. An interesting image, to be sure, but not an enlightening one. Third time was the charm.

steve: You're right & you made me chuckle. That's what happens when I do this too early of a morning when I'm in a hurry. I have no delusions, that ugly, ornery puppet is much loved.

they: I work with a goofy puppet one morning a week for storytime & the little ones seem to think he is very real. They bring him special gifts & his haul is always more than mine so I am betting he gets more valentines than I do. That's what I get for being his straight man. (It's early morning here & I hope this makes a little more sense than that original sentence.)

thank you Mimi... I stared at that sentence for a while, read steve's comment, stared at it for a minute longer... and gave up... I was wondering what anything had to do with a puppet and how steve figured it out... ;)

Valentine's Day for me is like another Christmas day I got lots of cards this year and other presents,I always get lots of presents on Valentines day from friends and family
