I'd like to improve that payment system a bit. I can actually accept credit cards directly now (PayPal is not necessary), but I haven't set that up for SC yet. I did recently setup a reminder system.

Most of the pop up ads go directly to the back, so i just see a glimpse of them. there's one banner ad that drops down and hangs there for a few seconds. Thats the only really annoying one because it gets in the way.

What price do you feel is reasonable/affordable?

The price I have now is roughly based on the amount of ad revenue I might get from a regular user (about $20/year), but that number makes less sense for less-frequent users.

Another option might be to charge you per-use in some way, so if you're not on the site that much or you're gone for a while, it wouldn't cost you.

Yes, I'm at the library a great deal. I generally check out a minimum of 5-6 books each time I go (and I go several times a week). In fact there is a library downtown where I work and another that is nearby the transit station on the way home after work. The internet cafe is downtown where I work, but I don't use it too often because I can use the library computers for free.

Ahhhh...... I learned my lesson years ago about such situations; an acquaintance of mine loaned ME a book that belonged to his deceased father and wished to have it back. I respected that; I still have the book (26 years later) and I swear that I'll give it to him when I see him! In fact, I'd love to meet him again just so I could give it back! I don't even know his real name; all I remember of him is his stupid line - "Let's you and me get together in a 50 gallon barrel of Mazola oil and have some fun!" ... Jeez, his name is on the tip of my tongue... ahhh, yes! I remember now; it was Snort! I never knew his real name...
What else can I do but learn from this experience; if you really want to keep a book - just don't lend it!
