Are you more of a dog person or a cat person?

This doesn't necessarily have to do with whether or not you have either pet or which one you have. For example, if a litter of kittens was born in your backyard and you decided to keep them, that doesn't necessarily mean that you are a cat person. This has more to do with your personality, and it is a self-defined thing.

Cat.I was afraid of/hated dogs.this until I took a cat,and now I can understand dogs more.Still I would never take one,but I now I stroke dogs and pat them on my way instead of looking anxious. And that's because of CATS!

As for my personality,I'm a hamster, but since there's no option I go for the cat.I'm gracious and lazy. * smile *
Also the cats (especially the smart cats)are really your friends, while the dogs look more like...fanatics... * wry smile *

Cat, but I like dogs too. I'm not sure I would choose to own a dog again as they are more work to take care of, but maybe. I had a dog as a kid that I didn't take very good care of, I just didn't have time for her, she was lonely. *sadness* I wouldn't want that to happen again. Cats are much easier and I like their personalities (less likely to be hyper; hyper=bad)

I like both, but I prefer cats. I've never really had a pet of my own. We had a cat and a dog when I was a child, but they were family pets.

And how a cat is not intelligent???

Unless you mean: Intelligent=someone who OBEYS???
Dogs are intelligent, cats are intelligent, they are just different.

And please don't tell me cats are not intelligent, because is not true.

Cats are intelligent, but so are tapeworms.
dora
(reply to kaleb777) posted 30-Jul-2003 4:25pm
No they aren't.
The myths about cats being less intelligent than dogs lies in the fact the cat doesn't accept to be tested, which if you want to know,is a sign of intelligence * smile *

kaleb777
(reply to dora) posted 30-Jul-2003 4:40pm
Ahuh. So cats are more intelligent and the fact they can't be trained proves this. Hmm.
dora
(reply to kaleb777) posted 30-Jul-2003 5:09pm
I didn't say they are more intelligent than dogs.I said that they are intelligent and that I happen to like their style more.
Now,if a creature that can open a door, open a fridge, wait patiently until you come again without moving or freaking out, find his way home even if is very far, even walk on a leash sometimes (even though most cats don't want to,but not because they didn't get it,they got it and didn't like it!),have hundreds of sounds to mean hundreds of different things, can feel if you're sick or lonely and turn into big fuzzy balls just to soothe you,and role-play with their toys (like, pretending the ball was a mouse and it was hidden behind the couch, but then...)...
And if you think an animal is more intelligent if can be trained, you should accept that a cow or an horse is more intelligent than a cat, which isn't true. And it shows.
Cats are clever, and very empathic and friendly.I find them more friendly than dogs, but then again I think I just have a different idea of friendship than you dog lovers.I mean if a friend of mine,my best friend, acted like a dog I will get scared and think about cutting all communications.
Tapeworms!! I mean you can't be serious!!

(reply to dora) posted 30-Jul-2003 5:25pm
Cats care about #1 only. Dogs have unconditional love towards their masters.
dora
(reply to kaleb777) posted 30-Jul-2003 5:36pm
Exactly.So,who's smarter? * wink *
Seriously, unconditional love bores me and I would never call it friendship.Stalkerish obsession maybe.Cats friendship is more like human friendship. Is true cats think about themselves, but they are loyal too.Only they don't go overboard (even though many of them stop eating when their owner is away or dead),they think about themselves. That's because they are different, not because they're self-centered.If they were so self-centered how come that mom cat is the best mom of them all? She shouldn't be.
And the word master...see the point in a cat-human relationship is that is balanced,no one has more power. Is more similar to friendship.
kaleb777
(reply to dora) posted 31-Jul-2003 3:37pm
The fact that your cat must do everything you say right down to die when you decide it is the right time means you're it's master. Try teaching a cat to sit.

I am a cat person moreso that a dog person because of my living arrangement (apartment). When I lived on my parent's farm, I always loved having dogs and would love to again when I have the space. In the meantime, I love my kitty cats!
