| wolfchik9 | posted 12-Jul-2003 8:41pm I get a big glass of Coke and relax in my bed, sitting up, and watch tv or read a book. Something to get my mind off the tummyache. |
| romkey | posted 12-Jul-2003 8:48pm My stomach is rarely upset. Usually if I do it's due to food poisoning, and it's severe. If it's severe I'll try to vomit or go to the bathroom. Otherwise I just try not to do again whatever I did that made me feel bad. |
| Iseult | posted 12-Jul-2003 9:23pm I usually eat some chicken soup and lay down. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 12-Jul-2003 11:11pm Eat bland stuff, stay away from dairy because it makes it worse. Sometimes nothing helps when my IBS decides to flair up. I just have to let it run it's course. |
| dora | posted 13-Jul-2003 12:20am Sleep,if I can I throw up,take some herbal tea (what herb it depends on the nature of the upsetting),try to stay warm and sweat, try to lay motionless. |
| dora | (reply to wolfchik9) posted 13-Jul-2003 12:20am You drink coke when your stomach is upset? |
| dora | posted 13-Jul-2003 12:23am Also,I eliminate animal proteins for a while if it's more intestinal (i know, they say that when you have diarrhea you should eat them and not eat vegetables.well I work upside down it seems.),if it's like gastritis instead I eliminate other foods for a few days. |
| beanpole | posted 13-Jul-2003 1:46am i dont get upset stomachs but i belch and fart alot. |
| Zang | posted 13-Jul-2003 7:29am It depends. I keep Alka-Seltzer, Tums and Pepto-Bismol on hand. Which one or ones I use for any given stomach upset depends on the specific symptoms. |
| Glassa | posted 13-Jul-2003 8:38am It depends on what kind of upset stomach. If it's acid reflux or acid indigestion, I'll take Maalox or Prevacid. I'll live with the gas until it passes. I don't usually have a problem with constipation, I eat enough fruit. If I'm nauseous, I'd probably either sleep through it if I'm at home or tough my way through it if I'm at work. |
| Glassa | (reply to romkey) posted 13-Jul-2003 8:40am I had food poisoning once from some bad roasted nuts. It was awful. I finally had to make myself puke so I would feel better, but I still had stomach cramps to the point I was doubled up in pain. |
| CarolL | posted 13-Jul-2003 9:09am I find ginger ale helps -- I get the fizz out first by pouring it from one glass into another enough times that it no longer fizzes. There is something about ginger that is supposed to help. Sometimes if my kids are nauseous I might give them a kid's gravol pill to help ease that horrible feeling. |
| dora | (reply to Glassa) posted 13-Jul-2003 9:16am I basically lived on maalox for years.Oh,sweet memories |
| romkey | (reply to Glassa) posted 13-Jul-2003 9:29am it's pretty horrible |
| justjulie | posted 13-Jul-2003 9:35am nothing...i ignore it and don't put any energy into the fact that i have one...deal w/ it for there will always be another one i'm sure |
| bill | posted 13-Jul-2003 9:41am bowel resection surgery |
| Enheduanna | posted 13-Jul-2003 10:51am Usually just wait it out. It happens often enough that I'm good at dealing with it. Chamomile tea helps sometimes. |
| Dino | posted 13-Jul-2003 12:01pm Nothing really. I just wait for it to go. |
| mandy | posted 13-Jul-2003 12:38pm tough it out |

| lily333 | posted 13-Jul-2003 12:43pm I usually drink some Sprite or 7UP |
| juliw | posted 13-Jul-2003 12:55pm It varies. For indigestion, I take antacids. For diarrhea, I take Immodium. For vomiting, I sip ginger ale. |
| southernyankee | posted 13-Jul-2003 2:53pm hey, shouldnt there be an option for puke? As far I am concerned, I just try to ignore it and hope it goes away quickly. |
| they | posted 13-Jul-2003 3:12pm poop. |
| Jemmy | posted 13-Jul-2003 6:14pm Take ibuprofen and suck it up. |

| wolfchik9 | (reply to dora) posted 14-Jul-2003 12:00am Yeah, when we were little, my friend's grandmother used to put Coca-Cola syrup over ice and make us suck on it, like a snowball, if we had a tummyache. There's something in the syrup that eases upset stomachs. Sometimes, the carbonation has a different effect than just the syrup but it doesn't seem to bother me. |
| Jody | posted 14-Jul-2003 9:11am I take medicines like tums or gas-x, whichever seems appropriate. If it's worse than that I take pepto-bismol. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 14-Jul-2003 10:31am nothing most of the time, or I just lay down for a bit. |
| they | (reply to SueBee) posted 14-Jul-2003 10:33am well... they asked |
| Biggles | posted 14-Jul-2003 11:06am My stomach doesn't really get upset anymore. I suffer a lot with nausea but I don't believe that comes from a problem with my stomach. I also experience bowel related problems sometimes, but again, that's not my stomach. |
| dora | (reply to wolfchik9) posted 14-Jul-2003 11:06am |
| Glassa | (reply to dora) posted 14-Jul-2003 2:05pm I'm assuming this was before Prevacid was available? |
| dora | (reply to Glassa) posted 14-Jul-2003 2:07pm What's prevacid? |
| SueBee | (reply to they) posted 15-Jul-2003 12:33am Yes, they did! *still laughing* |
| SueBee | (reply to Biggles) posted 15-Jul-2003 12:37am I tend to think of bowel related problems as an upset stomach, but you've made me realize that's not correct at all. I seldom have actual stomach problems -- iron gut, I guess. It's after it leaves my stomach that the problems start! |
| ihatespiders | posted 15-Jul-2003 12:55am I take Protonix for acid reflux. If its the stomich flue I try to sleep it off. Sometimes I take Gas X or Imodium. |
| Glassa | (reply to dora) posted 15-Jul-2003 1:45pm It's a prescription strength acid reducer. It's a pill. You take it 45 minutes to an hour before you eat something that might bother you. It turns off some of the acid producing pumps in your stomach. But if you already have acid damage, it won't help with that. |

| kaleb777 | posted 17-Jul-2003 12:37pm I find Appletise or Grapetise or any other carbonated fruit juice settles my stomach. (sugar free) |
| moonstone | posted 23-Jul-2003 2:46pm I nibbled on crystalized ginger when I was pregnant for morning sickness. Helps. |
