| ElvisFan67 | posted 27-Jun-2003 7:46pm I'm not an avid concert-goer (strange for an Elvis fan, huh?). However, my family and I are planning a trip to Branson, and I may get some opportunities there. As for seeing a regular celebrity in person, I've seen Ben "Cooter" Jones (from TV's "The Dukes of Hazzard") several times recently. He has a place in Sperryville, VA, just up the road from where I live, called "Cooter's Place". Cooter has an annual Dukes of Hazzard festival there, and he has his own band in which he sings. If you're ever in Virginia, check it out! Lots of fun! |

| Pomeranian | posted 27-Jun-2003 8:37pm I didn't really appreciate how excellent Martha was until I saw her perform with Rufus. |
| spidertea | (reply to mandy) posted 27-Jun-2003 8:43pm It was so beautiful to see him sing it. They had his face close up on a big screen, he was so into what he was saying. It was really amazing- I got goosebumps. |
| Glassa | posted 27-Jun-2003 8:50pm I think that was a Kiss concert in St. Louis. But if you're talking speaking concerts then that would have to be Bruce Campbell about a year ago. Bruce Campbell of "Evil Dead" fame. |
| pandora | (reply to Pomeranian) posted 27-Jun-2003 8:52pm I have such a huge crush on her. I want to *be* Martha! |
| Glassa | (reply to ElvisFan67) posted 27-Jun-2003 8:59pm If you're going to Branson you can't miss the Dixie Stampede. It's part of a Dollywood Production. They serve dinner, but without silverware. It's a neat show, kind of a North vs. South thing. Whichever side you sit on, you have to try to make the most noise. It's very inclusive with the audience. And if you like to swim, don't miss White Water. Silver Dollar City is good too. OHOHOH!!! For GREAT eating you just CANNOT miss Lamberts Cafe between Branson and Springfield. It's the home of the throwed rolls. They literally throw the rolls at you. It's an all you can eat place, but they bring the stuff around (fried okra, macaroni & cheese, etc). Check it out at www.throwedrolls.com Sorry for all that above. I've been to Branson many times and I live 4 hours from there. My husband's grandparents live in Springfield which is less than an hour from Branson. Just thought I'd give you some pointers. <--> Be ready for traffic! |

Actually, the Chinatown street festival is on right now, and I can hear some Chinese music and look out my window and watch. The stage is right under my window, so in a sense I'm at a concert right now! Later on this evening, I'm going to see Los Canasteros. |

I am so pissed off right now because Silverchiar were in England in London (300 miles away), just on the days that I had exams. So that was rather upsetting since I've been waiting forever for them to come to England. I would also like to see Queen, but can't for obvious reasons. |

| kaleb777 | posted 28-Jun-2003 3:38pm It was a long time ago - UB40. I stopped going to concerts because I got sick of paying big bucks to see ants on a stage a kilometer away or watching them on big screens. I can see the same thing on a DVD without the 2 second sound delay or having to watch through binoculars. I don't have to get crammed on a train with 80,000 other concert goers after it either. I stopped going to live bands at pubs when I realised humans suck. |
