Absolutely not.

No. I would say that in general, the more serious the crime is, the more morally culpable the witness is. In some situations (where I don't believe that such a thing should be a crime in the first place), I would consider the reporting of a crime to be far worse than its commission.

No; I think it's wrong, at least in some cases, but it's certainly not as bad as committing a crime.

It is wrong but not as bad as the crime. People must do their bit to help society. However I understand the motive not wanting to get involved.

For evil to exist, it requires good people to do nothing

It depends on the crime, its bad not to report it but not as bad as doing the crime.

Depends on the crime. If it is child abuse, yes.

It depends on the crime. I wouldn't report someone running a red light (I see it everyday), or a car parked whose meter has run out.

But if I were to witness a rape, murder, or burglery/robbery and not report it, that is condoning it.

You are so right on that one.

I actually reported my aunt for child abuse once. She was pregnant and drinking alcohol. I thought that was abuse since that causes fetal alcohol syndrome. They couldn't do anything because she was pregnant. So apparently you can do anything you want to a baby as long as it's still in the womb.
What's ironic is that my aunt is so pro-life that she believes any woman who has an abortion should die the same way the baby was killed (whatever the method of abortion was). At least she used to be when I would associate with her. She's not a real good person, so I steer clear of her.

Good for you! * smile * Your aunt sounds like she has a lot of issues, and I am glad you steer clear of her. By the way, whatever happened to the baby(your cousin)?

i don't think as bad but it should be reported. but fear is a powerful motivator and many are to afraid to face the perpetrator or get involved.

Well, he was born. Nobody ever talks about him having problems, so I guess he was lucky. Then again, he is only 4 or 5, so maybe those problems haven't surfaced yet. Like I said, I don't associate with her, so I wouldn't be able to tell how well Rudy's doing.

Thank God Rudy is alive, and hopefully, he is being taken care of. You might want to make amends with your aunt enough to ensure you are a part of Rudy's life. He needs caring people in his life.

Depends on the crime.

If I SAW a murder, rape, or abuse of any human being,I would certainly report it. Or even if someone stole a cart full of grocery I would say something, especially if they looked like they could afford the groceries or were just a plain everyday thief. Yeah, I would report it!

Reporting the crime lies in the mind of that persons integrity.

Everyone has their own sense of what is right and wrong for them. I may disagree with some laws and therefore am not offended by someone breaking them.

Doesn't matter with Jay-walking or other harmless things. Depends on the crime and their reason for not reporting it.
