| SueBee | posted 28-Feb-2003 5:40pm I think not. |

| msgman | posted 28-Feb-2003 6:48pm Vampire bats (Desmodus rotundus) exist. Human vampires don't, though. |
| Maarten | posted 28-Feb-2003 6:52pm Vampire bats, yes. |
| MssAmericat | posted 28-Feb-2003 8:03pm Depends on the definition. A vampire as in Dracula turning into a bat, turning others into vampires etc NO. But he was based on a real person from what I know(one site on him http://www.eskimo.com/~mwirkk/castle/vlad/vladhist.html ) A vampire such as a mortal human who drinks blood for what ever their reasons (and maybe thinks they are immortal |
| Galomorro | posted 28-Feb-2003 8:08pm No, but they sure do make for enjoyable movies, especially the more modern films. I like the films where there are disappearances in a modern city and modern vampires are club people -- stuff like that, maybe 'cause I've seen so many of the older films. |
| Enheduanna | posted 28-Feb-2003 10:36pm No. |
| anoddoblivion | posted 1-Mar-2003 12:11am The monster? No. The human phenomina: yes. |
| Wicksy | posted 1-Mar-2003 5:48am Isnt mandy one? |
| Iseult | posted 1-Mar-2003 9:26am There are physical vampires. But if you mean about those Count Draculesque ones, than I'd doubt it. |
| kaleb777 | posted 1-Mar-2003 11:45am Immortal humans who drink only blood, stay out of the sun, can change to gas or a bat, hate garlic, holy water and crosses? Ah no. |
| anonymous | posted 1-Mar-2003 11:51am I think my SIL is one. She stays up all night and doesn't come out into the sun. Hmm I wonder what she does all night? |
| JinnGnome | posted 1-Mar-2003 12:08pm then that depends on the relative definition one holds for a vampire |
| Biggles | posted 1-Mar-2003 12:37pm There are people who drink other people's blood, so if that's your definition of a vampire then they do exist. if you're talking about a supernatural being, then I seriously doubt it. |
| Dino | posted 1-Mar-2003 12:57pm No. I believe there may be a disease where people can be allergic to sun. There may also be an iron deficiancy disease. There may be an allergic reaction to garlic. But no I do not believe in vampires. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 1-Mar-2003 1:16pm Yes, they do! > |
| ROCKMAN | posted 2-Mar-2003 9:41am I don't think so. |
| romkey | posted 2-Mar-2003 10:49am My cats exist. My cats are not vampires. Therefore vampires do not exist? anyway, no. |
| sonikJ | posted 2-Mar-2003 11:03am I believe that there are people out there who only come out at night and drink blood (some of whom have their teeth pointed by a dentist), but I do not believe that they have powers or are immortal. |
| SueBee | (reply to romkey) posted 2-Mar-2003 11:51am Are you sure? Haven't you noticed their fangs? |
| romkey | (reply to SueBee) posted 2-Mar-2003 11:53am only when they're sunk into my neck |
| SueBee | (reply to romkey) posted 2-Mar-2003 2:16pm Ivy only bites our feet. She gets really mad when they move under the covers! |
| linny21 | posted 2-Mar-2003 3:00pm Yes |
| mandy | posted 2-Mar-2003 4:36pm I exist |
| mandy | (reply to Wicksy) posted 2-Mar-2003 4:37pm Yes, and it would give me great pleasure to suck the life out of you |
| mrnemo15 | posted 2-Mar-2003 6:31pm Well, it depends on how picky you want to be over the definitio of "vampire". There are people who will suck your blood, though maybe not literally. There are mosquitos, those can suck you dry in minutes (especially here in Florida). There are those torts lawyers that get bushelloads of cases about people who have been abused by big companies simply to rip the victims off again. I could go on... |
| Zang | posted 3-Mar-2003 1:04am Yes. I'm a vampire. |
| Zang | (reply to romkey) posted 3-Mar-2003 1:06am I guess I should change my answer, in light of your flawless logical statement. |
| Wicksy | (reply to mandy) posted 3-Mar-2003 4:00am open wide then |
| starrpickle | posted 3-Mar-2003 11:43am some may not be bloodsuckers but there are emotional vampires and such |
| mrsbbear | posted 3-Mar-2003 8:13pm Blood-sucking immortal supernatural creatures? No. Weirdos who get their jollies pretending to be such? In droves. Bad people who actually get by in life by parasitizing others and sucking their credit, bank accounts, and trust in humanity dry? Unfortunately, they exist, and really resemble the Hollywood vampire mystique in some unsettling ways. The sex appeal of the Hollywood vampire is irresistable to the adolescent psyche, and some folks never move on. |
| mandy | (reply to Wicksy) posted 3-Mar-2003 10:47pm |
| Yarbroughhunter | (reply to mrsbbear) posted 4-Mar-2003 2:13am I agree. |
| Cain | posted 4-Mar-2003 7:13am I don't know. Apparently there is a Vampire Society in my city but I don't know exactly what that entails. Whether they are vamps, or think they are, or would like to be or have just been watching too much Buffy or what? |
| bond_girl | posted 5-Mar-2003 1:14pm Yeah I got bitten by one earlier! |
| dora | posted 8-Mar-2003 11:57am No.Some people drink blood, and maybe also hate light.but they are not immortal so they don't qualify as vampires. They didn't even die yet! You must die before turning into a vampire. So nope, vampires don't exist as portrayed n mythology and novels (and movies of course!). |
| Steven | posted 9-Mar-2003 7:37pm There is such a thing as a 'mental vampire.' |
| dora | (reply to Steven) posted 10-Mar-2003 10:00am My ex-boyfriend said I was one. If you mean people sucking energy, not like a vampire that is mental |
