| Zang | posted 21-Feb-2003 1:29am Sure. Why not? I don't care one way or the other. |
| Dino | posted 21-Feb-2003 4:59am I would really need to think more about this. I do feel that it would help regulate it and make it easier for girl/boys to go the police if there is trouble. But I'm sure there must be another side to the argument. My initial opinion is yes, make it legal. |
| Enheduanna | posted 21-Feb-2003 9:55am Yes. Blah blah blah Nevada blah blah blah Amsterdam blah blah blah.... |
| Biggles | posted 21-Feb-2003 10:04am Yes. With limitations, obviously. |
| TeddyMiller | posted 21-Feb-2003 11:08am Selling isn't necessarily legal; the government regulates businesses, what can and can't be sold. Things within an individual's discretion otherwise may not be legal to buy and sell; look at laws against bribery. Laws about prostitution are in a different category than laws about sex; you can regulate prostitution the same way you regulate a business but shouldn't regulate an individual's sex life. Having said that, I'd say making prostitution legal but regulated would be more sensible than keeping it illegal. Prostitution is common even if illegal; making it legal would allow better regulation in terms of age restrictions, wages, working conditions, health considerations, etc. |
| Galomorro | posted 21-Feb-2003 11:43am Yes, it should be legal. Get rid of pimps and require AIDS testing. |
| dora | posted 21-Feb-2003 3:39pm Yes.But not because of what Carlin says.Just because it will be better for the prostitutes. And the crime rates will go down and down.Same thing with legalizing drugs. And I don't mean pot.I mean legalizing HARD drugs of course.Legal prostitution okay.Better for everybody except the bigots who love to see women being abused like it was the hand of god or something... |
| ittybittytitty | posted 21-Feb-2003 3:57pm just what we need--more fudging sluts giving guys diseases! |
| southernyankee | (reply to ittybittytitty) posted 21-Feb-2003 4:09pm nope, shows how much you know... ...sluts dont get paid |
| dora | (reply to ittybittytitty) posted 21-Feb-2003 4:14pm Legalize it,no diseases at all. And whores are not sluts-it's insulting to call a whore a slut or a dog.She is not.She is a whore,a bit of respect. |
| Zang | (reply to dora) posted 21-Feb-2003 4:31pm Well said! |

| jettles | posted 22-Feb-2003 8:58am definitely should be legal and controlled like other businesses..... specific STD testing at specific intervals etc...... |
| MssAmericat | posted 22-Feb-2003 9:57am Those who are not in this profession still get diseases so legalizing will not stop the transferring of STD's. Same with regulating. They do this with cigarettes, alcohol, playboy mags, but regulating these has never stopped one who is underage etc to obtain them. I personally don't think it would change enough to make a difference. But I say no it shouldn't be legalized because my God tells me in Hebrews 13:4 4 "MARRIAGE" is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. AND 1 Corinthians 6:14-20 "14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. 15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 "FLEE FORNICATION". Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." |
| ROCKMAN | posted 22-Feb-2003 10:08am George is right it should be legal!!!!!!!! |
| anonymous | posted 23-Feb-2003 11:21am some people make a living working in computers or big companys but those who cant do that sell sex so whats the big deal.....but it is gross |
| they | posted 23-Feb-2003 12:56pm Of course! Yes! And let's not forget about legalizing marijuana also! Let's get high, buy sex, and be happy! |
| mandy | (reply to they) posted 23-Feb-2003 2:41pm Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| silas | posted 25-Feb-2003 3:35pm I think that we must come to the realization that we cannot prevent prostitution, so the next step would be to minimize it's negative effects. Therefore, I think we should legalize it, tax it and put it under strict health regulations. |
| Wicksy | posted 26-Feb-2003 7:36am yes |
| TeddyMiller | (reply to MssAmericat) posted 26-Feb-2003 9:45am You've listed the religious reasons for YOU not to become or patronize a prostitute; your religion is irrelevant to what should be legal for anyone else. Just like my religion says I shouldn't eat ham or shellfish, and I follow that, but it's no reason to ban anyone else from eating them. |
| MssAmericat | (reply to TeddyMiller) posted 26-Feb-2003 11:28am Hey Teddy...The question was "Should prostitution be legalized in the US?"...I do believe my answer is relevant......I know others disagree with what I say so I said "But I say no it shouldn't be legalized because "my God tells me" ..." but truth is yes I believe this is what he would have us all do not just me... . I get my answer about the ham and shellfish in Acts 10. God's truth (the bible) is for us all. |
| sonikJ | posted 26-Feb-2003 9:14pm Yes, it should, but it should be regulated as far as health and it should be taxed like cigarettes and alcohol. |
| linny21 | posted 2-Mar-2003 5:52pm I can't believe that it hasn't been legalized here yet.....look at all that tax money the govt is losing out on... |
| beckploeg | posted 7-Mar-2003 3:13am it should be. why should you be able to seel or not sell certain crape? i mean who is to really say? |
| Box | posted 7-Mar-2003 11:02pm If prostitution were to be made legal it would be just another step to treating women in the US as property, sexual property, like those in Afghanistan or India. Its a trap to most women, a degrading life-threatening trap, and the morals of the American people as whole will suffer. |
| anonymous | posted 7-Mar-2003 11:24pm It is legal. In Nevada. Prostitution is another non-issue that the controlled media shoves in our face to create strong and deadly negative emotions. Besides, if they legalized it, then hookers would have access to health benefits. And what effectively deceptive New World Order would want whores to have benefits. How would all the good STDs be spread then? Nobody gets ill from a clean hooker.....lol |
| anonymous | (reply to anonymous) posted 8-Mar-2003 1:56am Who protects the hookers from the johns with diseases that aren't visibly noticeable? Will that require johns to have medical certificates to prove they are physically fit to use the hookers? They have to have quality control. I mean, if you rent a car, they make sure you have a driver's license, insurance and a credit card. To protect their interests. What will be required for the hookers? I mean, after all, I wouldn't want to get something from the guy before me. |
| GulfShark | posted 12-Mar-2003 9:46pm It already is legal.............flight to Vegas anyone? |
| dani | posted 6-Apr-2003 11:16am It could then be regulated, reducing spread of disease, better safety for the sex workers, and tax money for government. |
| anonymous | posted 6-Apr-2003 11:35pm Yes I think it should be legal because one way or another men pay for, or compensate women in order to have sex with them (dinners, movies, gifts)(unless she's a ho). |
| dora | (reply to anonymous) posted 17-Apr-2003 1:08am courting and paying are not the same thing!! It's disgusting to think that someone can compare the two!! |
| msPAC | posted 17-Apr-2003 1:01pm look at the porn stars |
| Uaskingme | posted 7-May-2003 6:59pm Yes, but it should be regulated by the government for health and safety reasons for both the 'seller' and the 'buyer'. |
| qt007qt | posted 9-May-2003 10:48pm There's a thing called STD (sexually transmitted disease), and it's very frightening. If you do some research, you will find that prostitution is a huge factor in spreading of STD's. |
| pandora | (reply to qt007qt) posted 9-May-2003 10:50pm So are you for or against legalizing prostitution? |
| ihatespiders | posted 25-May-2003 12:47am diseases. |
