Should prostitution be legal in the US?

Sure. Why not? I don't care one way or the other.

I would really need to think more about this. I do feel that it would help regulate it and make it easier for girl/boys to go the police if there is trouble.
But I'm sure there must be another side to the argument.

Selling isn't necessarily legal; the government regulates businesses, what can and can't be sold. Things within an individual's discretion otherwise may not be legal to buy and sell; look at laws against bribery. Laws about prostitution are in a different category than laws about sex; you can regulate prostitution the same way you regulate a business but shouldn't regulate an individual's sex life.
Having said that, I'd say making prostitution legal but regulated would be more sensible than keeping it illegal. Prostitution is common even if illegal; making it legal would allow better regulation in terms of age restrictions, wages, working conditions, health considerations, etc.

Those who are not in this profession still get diseases so legalizing will not stop the transferring of STD's. Same with regulating. They do this with cigarettes, alcohol, playboy mags, but regulating these has never stopped one who is underage etc to obtain them. I personally don't think it would change enough to make a difference. But I say no it shouldn't be legalized

You've listed the religious reasons for YOU not to become or patronize a prostitute; your religion is irrelevant to what should be legal for anyone else. Just like my religion says I shouldn't eat ham or shellfish, and I follow that, but it's no reason to ban anyone else from eating them.

Who protects the hookers from the johns with diseases that aren't visibly noticeable? Will that require johns to have medical certificates to prove they are physically fit to use the hookers? They have to have quality control. I mean, if you rent a car, they make sure you have a driver's license, insurance and a credit card. To protect their interests. There's a thing called STD (sexually transmitted disease), and it's very frightening. If you do some research, you will find that prostitution is a huge factor in spreading of STD's.
