| anonymous | posted 29-Dec-1998 7:31pm nope. i'm a prisoner inside my own head. |
| hunter | posted 29-Dec-1998 7:38pm Pretty much, yes. There are a lot of obligations and limitations on that freedom, but I choose those. |
| anonymous | posted 29-Dec-1998 9:33pm I'm trapped in that prison they call high school. |
| milktree | posted 30-Dec-1998 12:09am avaliable, not free :) |
| hillbilly | posted 30-Dec-1998 6:24am I don't think I am free. I live in a society that does not realize that it is socialist, bordering on communism. How else can you explain that the government takes my money any gives it to others who do not or can not make as much money as I do. I also live in Massachusetts, a state that continues to pass laws against many of the thinks that I enjoy. I could elaborate for pages but I will not bore you. |
| jjg | posted 30-Dec-1998 9:27am No. I am quite expensive. Most people could not afford my price. I tagged this bad because the complete lack of any sort of restrictions on the word free make this too difficult to answer with out me being a smart ass. I could answer this as a pricing question, independence, responsibility. There's too many ways to go. |
| reality | posted 30-Dec-1998 10:37am nope, I am tied down by my sense of responsibility... although I am probably more free than many people in the world.. |
| bill | posted 30-Dec-1998 10:40am jjg - I think this is another case of, "what is your gut reaction?". When you first read it, what did you first think? |
| jjg | posted 30-Dec-1998 11:55am bill: a price tag was the first thing that came up. Then I thought independence or political freedom. As I stated, the answer is too variable for me to answer properly. |
| lisashea | posted 30-Dec-1998 1:36pm Yes. I'm at a loss to elaborate because I don't understand the thrust of the question. |
| kadai | posted 30-Dec-1998 2:05pm Free of my family, of a boss that made my life hell, free to eat out, see friends, stay in bed late, eat too much, free to think what I want say what I want if I'm willing to accept the consequences. Thank god almighty, I'm free at last... |
| magbast | posted 30-Dec-1998 2:54pm i'm not free at all...i have many walls...mostly mental |
| elijahblue | posted 30-Dec-1998 3:06pm More yes than no. Is this the "correct" type of way to answer such a question in the new warm 'n fuzzy SC? |
| bill | posted 30-Dec-1998 6:05pm I'm so proud of you EB. |
| Mimi | posted 31-Dec-1998 1:38pm I feel quite free except for those 40 to 50 hours per week I have to devote to money-earning pursuits. |
| dab | posted 31-Dec-1998 5:47pm The question came from Gerry Spence's recent book, Give Me Liberty, so in that context it definitely had a social/political slant to it. But I like the other definitions people used. I tell people I'm cheap and easy but they never seem to believe me. |
| lizzie | posted 4-Jan-1999 11:34am I think I am, but I certainly don't feel that way. |
| eris | posted 5-Jan-1999 6:42pm Free to those who can afford it, terribly expensive for those who can't |
| bgoodman | posted 6-Jan-1999 11:51pm Interesting question. I decided that I'm free but not inexpensive. Not that that means anything in particular. I think if I define myself as not free, I have a lot less chance of achieving the sorts of freedom that I want. |
| seth | posted 11-Jan-1999 4:13pm More than most, but not as much as I'd like. |
| anonymous | posted 13-Jan-1999 12:34pm Free with a purchase of $10 or more. I'm sometimes cheap, but I'm not easy. |
| mandy | posted 10-Apr-1999 7:25pm I am free with my words...thoughts...... comments....free with my loved ones...open honest loving.... |
| pcpr | posted 8-Jun-1999 9:50pm No, I'm attached... |
| Wicksy | posted 26-Aug-1999 6:58am I am now single.....hey, any of you girls got a spare $500 to jet over to the UK and have a night out with me!! |
| bill | posted 26-Aug-1999 5:55pm If you go, don't forget eye protection. |
| mandy | posted 28-Aug-1999 9:23pm stud |
| Wicksy | posted 31-Aug-1999 4:44am thanks twister!! |
| SueBee | posted 15-Oct-1999 2:21am Yes, I am. I can do anything I want. It just so happens that I WANT to be a responsible partner and parent, and I want to keep my job so I don't have to live in the street. |
| Mariah | posted 3-Nov-1999 3:56am I may be cheap, but I ain't free, baby! ;) |
| FauxLo | posted 1-Dec-2005 8:49am No,sadly, I don't think any of us are free. Freedom is an illusion that governments afford their citizens. It's also something they yank away from time-to-time and altogether eliminate, if they feel inclined to do so. |
