Would you prefer to play a good character or a bad character?

I am currently casting for a new movie (script to be written) and have decided that Survey Central People are to star in the film.

However, I need to know whether you would prefer to play a good character or bad character.

Can I be one of those characters who appears to be good at the start, but its really just part of my devilish scheme to gain the trust of every one else and really I'm an evil bastard?
Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh?

I want to be a baddy. I'm good at it. I'd like to appear sweet and sane on the outside but have this deep dark horrible secret bad personality underneath. No one would suspect I am at the root of all the horrible things going on around them. Crap wouldn't stick to me. I could get away with the most outrageous stuff. I would get out of every ordeal with barely a scrape and stand back and watch my evil empire grow with a smug and satisfied look. Sometimes I would have moments of doubt about my wrongdoings and fall to my knees and cry giant tears and clutch at my chest and pull at my hair but not often and never in front of another human. And I'd carry a concealed firearm illegally. I would have a knife strapped to my thigh.

Always good. When I sit near my bro playing bad guys on video games, I cast spells of peace through his good guy characters.
In theater I have to play good people because everything going through my head (like a script rehearsal) ends up coming true in my life quite soon.

if i had to choose probably the bad one. but to tell you the truth, i dont like either of them.

in fact, i geneally dont like movies that use the concepts of good guys vs bad guys. thats soooo over done. i prefer movies where the lines between whose good and whose evil are blurry and it all depends on your perspective.

btw: has anyone here seen gangs of new york. i would highly recomend it for those of you who havent.

I've been in a number of plays over the years, but I always end up playing a nice character. I'd love the chance to play a baddie. Someone not necessarily physically imposing, but bubbling underneath in a dark place a character of malevolence, perversion and twisted rage. That would be interesting.

none of the above. the film itself didnt have any impressive points, so you really can't blame the advertizers for making it look bad. but it was a great movie, you just have to take the whole thing rather than just some clips and sound bites. really, if you took the whole movie apart, frame by frame, you wouldn't find a single decend sound bite or a clip.

the movie as a whole is great though. i like the characters and think that they're really interesting, and i like the scence that's going on around, i think that that's really interesting also. i would definatly recomend it, but then again its just me. if you go see it and then you are disappointed, dont blame me, i am just telling you that i liked it.

the only downside to this movie is that its 3 hours long. so it really depends if you could sit through that. i did with increadible ease, specially considering that the movie makes the time pass by so smoothly and it'll be over before you know it, but still its filled with lots of great content. i definatly say its one of my top 10 movies i have ever seen.

I think its more interesting to have the role of a villain. Many movies just make villains out to be evil bad guys, but some great movies actually go into the villain characters which is very interesting and adds a new depth to the movie. The movie Gladiator did this with Emperor Comodus, so if its a villain with a good character I'd rather play them.

If you take it that most people are inherently good-natured, what would the fun be in being yourself? I'm all for the release of being the bad character, whatever form its in. That's the whole point of it. And anyway, theatre would be awfully boring if it were nothing but good guys running around. Also, I would be smart enough to follow the Evil Overlord rules, and thereby not end up dead by the end due to my own idiocy and lack of forethought.

If this sounds completely confusing see the movie...it's a great flick that never made the theaters (in USA) due to the violent nature, and was due to be released in 1999 (the year of Columbine, you know, when all that was released was Disney)
