Oh Zangs answer above (barbies) reminded me about my nieces and nephs, I didn't leave them out, I just gave their Mom the money and let her do the buying for me and put my name on it, that way they get more what they want because I'm not good picking out little kids stuff. |

So many things! Lots of books, some clothes, CDs, an Xbox game, a bicycle headlight, a book on astrology, a broom, a watering can, a DVD, CD-Rs that look like old 45s, a couple little things I sewed for my dad, candles, a learn Italian CD and book, a chicken basket, and a whole lot of other little things. I had a ton of people to get gifts for, and I tend to go a little overboard--I love having the excuse for guilt-free shopping! |

Okay! When I lived in Hawaii(back in 1973)my friend & I encountered a huge, ugly, brown, hairy,(no exaggeration) the size of my hand spider.
We had a couple sightings of it in the house but,was never able to track it down nor did we "really" want to. One morning the dang thing came out of hiding. So I cornered it. Me with a broom & my friend with a rolled up newspaper. As I walked towards it,it turned to face me.You know like a show down.I swear! The dang spider had the biggest eyes & it was staring at me,as I was staring at it,staring back at me me.I moved towards it to get closer to hit it & the dang spider jumped! I mean it took a big 2/3 foot jump towards me. My friend & I started running around the kitchen screaming, yelling & crying. Believe this! The spider chased ME!! I ran like heck all around the house. Finally I told myself,"Wait a minute,I'm bigger than IT!" So I turned around again to see if it was still behind me. Yep! There it was staring me down like it was do or die time. I got a good grip on the broom stick & hit the dang thing as hard as I could.Mean while my girlfriend is screaming & yelling."Get it! Get it,Cleo!" Kill it! Kill it! Did you kill it?
"I don't know" I tell her. I lift up the end of the broom ever so slowly(praying)to see & hoping against hope that the spider is dead. We look & the spider is in a ball. We're thinking YAY! The spider is dead. NOPE!!! The dang thing unballs itself & springs towards me again. DAM!! We both start running around the house again screaming & yelling. I turn around again & hit it with the broom a few times & my girlfriend drops the newspaper & grabs a can of hair spray & sprays it while holding a lighter. Killed it dead!! Dam that spider!! It gave me nightmares for the longest time. I can laugh about it now. But,then?? I was scared out of my ever loving mind,of that fregin BIG,hairy, size of my hand, ugly, brown, jumping, attacking, chase me around the house, spider! |

That would be freaky.. we had one almost that big climb out of a potato sack that we had just brought home from the store and laid on the counter... it did the same thing with rod... acting like it was going to attack him... he finally got it to crawl up on a back scratcher and he just flung it into the yard. I still have trouble sticking my hand into a sack of potatoes. |
| Cleo | | (reply to they) posted 30-Dec-2002 2:21pm |
EWWWWWW!!**shivers**
I know! I NEVER EVER saw a spider stare me down & threaten to attack me before or since. I don't see THAT kind of spiders here in California.
I SOOOOOOO hate spiders. |
they | | (reply to Cleo) posted 30-Dec-2002 2:27pm |
After that potato incident, you'll never catch me anywhere in Idaho.. I promise you. |
| Cleo | | (reply to they) posted 30-Dec-2002 2:43pm |
In that case.....me either.& stay away from Kilauea Ave in Hawaii too!
But,tell me.Did your spider actually attack you or only threaten to. MY spider ment business!BIG time! |

I gave my son enough money ($85) to buy 3 bus passes. A boring, but very practical gift. If you buy 3 months at a time you save nearly $25 and he is set for transportation through the end of March, 2003. |
they | | (reply to Cleo) posted 30-Dec-2002 6:32pm |
The spider that rod dealt with was bluffing..
The spider that attacked me was just a few months ago or so and he bit me twice while I was sleeping. I required heavy doses of antibiotics and steriods to counteract the tissue death that was occuring in my neck and above my ear. So that one did mean business. |

My mum - a hardback (with pictures) of Biggles in Spain for her birthday (which was back in May, but I didn't get her anything because I was so busy and I only just got around to it) and a Port Merion (sp?) pot thing with some Thornton's chocolates I got a necklace for one friend, a pot letter B with Tigger on it for another, a mini Hungry Hippos game for another friend and a mini viewfinder for yet another. |
