| Iseult | posted 20-Dec-2002 7:31am Wait. who knows what's happening? |
| Zang | posted 20-Dec-2002 7:57am I might continue to look, or I might look away. It would depend on what else was around to attract my attention; a nice set of bewbs, something shiny... I doesn't sound to me like an incident particularly worthy of a reaction. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 20-Dec-2002 9:05am I'd watch and see what happens, they might just know each other, the next step would be for me to try and break it up. I'm not one to stand around if something bad is going down. |
| LindaH | posted 20-Dec-2002 10:33am Yay! I'm happy about the answers so far. We aren't a presumptive, reactionary bunch at all, are we? |
| Enheduanna | posted 20-Dec-2002 10:48am Call the police and go outside to try to break it up. I wouldn't just grab the pedestrian, because maybe they own the car and are trying to keep someone from stealing it! |

| sonikJ | posted 22-Dec-2002 10:26am I'd go out and try to break them up. No one else probably would, so it would be up to someone! |
| ruthann | posted 22-Dec-2002 11:57am watch and see and then maybe call the police if needed |
| NthenSome | posted 22-Dec-2002 6:47pm Instinctively, I'd shove the pedestrian to the ground. I think it's the best move because it still gives her the chance to stay if these two are somehow related - like they're really a couple who's in town because they're guests on the next taping of "Jerry Springer" or something, and they're just arguing in their usual fashion. My brother-in-law followed me out a bar once and found me shoving this guy because of the way I saw him pinching on her ass while they were inside. She acted all annoyed and I saw he was leaving alone, so I approached him. By the time my brother-in-law got out there the "annoyed girl" came bouncing in between all of us, and put her arm around her...yes, her husband. I was pretty embarrassed. I'll sure do it again if it looks like an attack. I wouldn't be able to help myself - I'd just be in the middle of it in a second. Hopefully your character doesn't have a gun. |
| LindaH | (reply to NthenSome) posted 22-Dec-2002 10:33pm You wouldn't take time to make sure you knew who was in the wrong? What if the pedestrian was attacking the driver because the driver was stealing the car? |
| NthenSome | (reply to LindaH) posted 23-Dec-2002 2:41am You know what's strange is I pictured this episode only happening in one, very specific way - a lady was being attacked by the male pedestrian. I never considered any alternatives. Maybe that's why I almost chanced fighting a guy for goosing his own wife, haha! With the lady being attacked by a guy (in my version), I guess I didn't think of the possibility that she could be the gangstah, ready to take some new wheels for a little joy ridin'. That's pretty interesting. |
| scrubnurse | posted 23-Dec-2002 4:56am Watch to see what happens as I get ready with my cell phone to call '911'. |
| LindaH | (reply to NthenSome) posted 23-Dec-2002 11:05am I made my people gender-unknown, but it's not surprising that people attribute genders to them. It seems natural. Yeah it is interesting. I've thought about that before, how males seem more suspicious than females. One time someone called security because a male was sitting on the edge of a wooded trail. "Not doing anything, just sitting there" the caller said. I wonder if it would have been as suspicious if the trail sitter would have been female. |
| anonymous | posted 23-Dec-2002 1:51pm Take out my Glock and tell the pedestrian to back away from the driver... |
| LindaH | (reply to anonymous) posted 23-Dec-2002 2:18pm You are kidding, right? |
| Biggles | posted 25-Dec-2002 1:52pm Initially, I would probably watch to see what happens next. If it looks like an assault is in progress, I would probably shout. If I'm in a cafe, it's likely that there would be people in there who are bigger and stronger than me who could actually do something. I might go outside and shout if no-one else did anything. If that didn't help, I'd probably call the police, or get someone else to. |
| anonymous | (reply to LindaH) posted 29-Dec-2002 10:58pm Well tell me punk, do feel lucky? Well, do ya? |
| sunshine | posted 31-Dec-2002 8:42pm If I was to get involved at all, it would be to call the police if it looked like they were in a heated argument. You never know who might have a gun on them. |
| wolfchik9 | posted 3-Jan-2003 4:00am Wait to see if there is any real danger to either person. If so, call the police on my cell phone and tell a cafe employee to alert the manager. |
| anonymous | (reply to LindaH) posted 4-Jan-2003 4:04am Well, do ya punk? |
| LindaH | posted 4-Jan-2003 11:24am You mean as lucky as the pedestrian who was being threatened/detained as someone drove off in his car? |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 11-Jan-2003 11:54pm Call the police. |
