It varies. It's one of those things I can't describe, but I know when I see it.

I think the best surveys are the ones that are highly original, make you think, and encourage discussion. It is best if they follow all of the generally agreed upon rules.

Here's a good example:

i dont think that there is an objective sytem. i guess that everyone have their own view on this subject. but then again, we cant really rely on the rating system either, cause then our surveys are allready too rating driven as it is. i take it that the SC wants me to give my opion on this, very well, here it is...

.. i want surveys that have a science behind them. that they are trying to either prove something about something, or disprove. it could be about a sterotype. i like surveys where i can look in advanced stats and see the gender differences (or the lack of them), divisons among age groups, etc etc. i dont know about the rest of you, but iam in it for the stats. i like hypotectical questions that force us to assess (or reasses) our values by making us make a chice between two or more great evils, or two or more blisses. i want surveys that dont wine and preach to us. i like surveys that get us to rank our blisess, our fears, or something really silly like our favorite days of the week (ect)

now for what i dont want. i dont want winny surveys. i dont want give me advice surveys (unless the SC is in a real dilima) i dont want huggy survyes. i dont want anything ratings driven. i dont want duplicates or near duplicates (example: http://surveycentral.org/?S=425570&V=2874) and i especiy dont like surveys that ask me to give them a defintion of something. thats what dictionary.com is for.

generaly speaking, i dislike essay surveys, and multi pick arent that great eihter. i like single pick, and i especially like ranking. i like survyes that are inclusive. i dont like surveys that will get a lot of "other", "I have something else to say about ..." and my favorite"I am a man/woman/dont have a penis/vaiga" answers.

of course, in rare circomstances, i do make exections. There were a few essay surveys voted good by me, and there were ranking surveys votged bad by me. and off course, ocationly, i bookmark, or even create some surveys i claim i dont like.

Giving it a hard spanking and making it stand in the corner for 30 minutes. Of course, this only works for a short while.

why are you answering all the surveys anonymously? We don't bite (well, some of us do, but most people seem to like that....)
