OK, what would you do in this scenario?

call 911, and follow close behind and maybe maybe maybe if there is an opportunity to do something before the police get there i would but not if there is a chance i would get the woman killed.

I would call the cops. I might also see if there was a place I could keep an eye on them without being detected.

I don't have a cell phone; if I did, I would use it to call the police. Otherwise, I would look for a phone nearby, or an open store, or a house that looked like someone was home in. If none of these was an option, I might try to sneak up and appraise the situation and see if there was any use in my intervening.

I would immediately pull out my cell phone and call the police. At the same time, I would try to get into the best position where I could possibly keep an eye on them without potentially putting myself into any danger.

Something inbetween bargain and mind-meld. I've somewhat been in these situations before, usually a bit more premeditated, less raw.

Call 112. (911 in some other countries).

I'd sneak up on him and tackle him. Not that I'm big enough to do much, but the element of surprise would give me the advantage. If I didn't have the opportunity to sneak up and tackle him, however, I'd pull out my handgun and threaten that if he didn't drop his weapon I'd shoot. (I have a concealed-weapon permit, by the way...I don't just carry to terrorize or anything. My dad got it for me when I started working in TV; the station was on a bad side of town. We went to the concealed-weapon classes together.)

I hate to admit it, but I'd probably do nothing. I guess I've become too urbanized for my own good. Maybe the holidays at "my" suberban home will desentitize me.

Maybe phone. But I would maybe shout out from where I was standing to let him know that this wasn't a private affair and that there were now witnesses. Sometimes just shouting "Oy, you!" can stop a situation.

Shout out that I had seen him and then shout out for help...running and pounding on doors...looking for someone to call the police

Run after him tackle him, kick the crap out of him (till there is no more movement) then pull out the cell phone.

Why does this question start with "OK"?

I'd probably shout, making noise would hopefully scare him into doing nothing. Then I'd call the police. I wouldn't follow them down thealley unless either the man or the woman (or both) was someone that I knew.

Your right I forgot about him having a gun, I was thinking back at the time I did chase a guy down that grabed a woman, and she sure was Happy I got involved, he had a knife and when I yelled something he just took off running so I chased him down, he had been convicted of assualt and rape before.
If I yelled and he ran like that I still would have chased him gun or not.

I'd say pull out my cell and call the police. Then try to keep watching if I could.

Call the police. I doubt I would be physically strong enough to restrain the man and I or the woman could end up being shot if the gun went off during the ensuing tussle and that wouldn't help anything.

I would pull out my cell phone and call the police then enter the closest populated area and watch to see what happens next in order to send the police in the right direction and give an accurate statement.
