An HND. Generally steadier relationships with the opposite sex. A few more steps along the path of learning to like myself and become a better friend. I hope. A lottery win would be nice too.

Hopes: I hope everyone is safe and in good health, and has a long, happy life. Nothing devastating like job losses and wars.

Fears: My biggest worry at this very moment is that both of my bosses recently got fired, and the one person in my department who dislikes me intensely applied for one of their jobs. If she gets the job, my ass is history. We have a work meeting tomorrow (Saturday) and I am both looking forward to finding who got the job and dreading to find out. I don't know whether they have made a decision yet, and I am not even positive she applied for it, but I have heard some talk.
Goals: Lose weight, pay off some bills, get a few things ironed out
Predictions: I do not have any, except that if she gets that supervisory job, I can kiss my ass goodbye. * frown *

Hopes: University will carry on merrily. I'll do well in my exams. My brothers will do well in their exams. My brother's health will be okay.

Fears: pretty much the opposite of all of those. Plus, I'm afraid that my parents' health will deteriorate - they make me so angry at times.... * wry smile *

Predictions? War with Iraq. Britain will be in on it. So will Australia. France won't be gung ho, but they won't come all out against it. Other stuff will happen - I may write more about them later....

I hope I don't lose my job or that I get another one that is more money and more fulfilling. But if not then I hope I keep this one.
I hope too that my confidence will increase and I'll be more sociable. This year has been a big turn around for me ever since I went on my 'Learn-to-swim' holiday. I've been out more. Met some new people and gone out more. Each time is a little easier.

Okay, I'm still running scared from relationships but hey, one step at a time eh? My goal therefore is good friends.

Predictions: Prince Charles dies and the world's media goes crazy but not over his death but what happens next and every other story contains a biopic or life-plan or horoscope (proving it so they say) or Nostradamus prophecy or whatever - on Prince William.

I will definitely let you know what happens! I missed talking to you Saturday, although our Christmas luncheon at work turned out to be really nice ( though I still think it should have been on a work day). I took linguini salad, and it was the bomb! I am pretty much done with my Christmas shopping. My mom gave me money, so I could buy something before Christmas (she has done this for years). It is not that she doesn't want to be bothered. But my sister and I are both in our forties, and she wants us to get something we really want. I bought a pair of REAL diamond ear rings!!

Diamonds are a girls best friend. Yeah, at least you get what you want rather than some crummy jumper you feel obliged to wear. Someone once bought me a hooded sports top once. It made me look like so Harlem gangster. Believe if you knew me you'd know it doesn't suit me. I prefer to dress a little more consertative.

Jim Haslet should still be here, and i've heard that Kyle Turley still has one year left on his contract. I don't know about the rest of the guys.

Boy, what a disappointment. Back when we were 5 and 1, we were all dreaming what the superbowl would be like. At the worst case scenario, i thought would be that we would lose the very first playoff game. i would have never dreamed that we wouldnt even make it this far. then again, towards the end, i didnt except much from them either. speically considering our record toward the end of the season. i dont think we've won our last game in the last seven straight years. not to worry, we're not the only ones. for some odd reason, the teams in the south tend to lose their last games in december. i am guessing it has a lot to do with the weather.

anyway, watching the playoffs, i pisses me off knowing that at one time or another, we have beat most of these teams. man, i sure hope that atlanta and tampa lose. right now, my team is the stealers. it's probably because of their comeback againts the browns. well, as much as i hate to, since I wanted to be more original this year and not reapeat old, over done one lineres, i shall leave you with this one....

... there's always next year.

Ha! And there's always next century too. To think that we GAVE the Falcons their playoff spot... makes your head boil. If you watched the wildcard games then you were at least entertained. Shut-out for the Colts... unexpected loss for the Packers... then a messed-up call and the 49ers beat the Giants. Great game but horrible sportmanship. Oh, well. One day we'll be able to say that the Saints were in the playoffs and won once. One day...

actually, we have won our first playoff game (umh) at the end of 2000 (i think). thats still in the new century. we beat the Rams, and then we lost the very next game against the Vikings. Of, I think I see what you mean. we havent won any playoff games "recently" It used to be that we have never won one, ever. I mean since 1968. And that was even counting the years that we were really good. i remeber one year the Saints went 12 and 4. And then we were even winning by 17 after the 1st half. the Egles came back and still won.

oh, that reminds me, i just realized this. you live in New Orleans, right? I just realized that I am 20, and I'll be 21 near the end of this month (jan 24). I still haven't decided what I wanna do on my birthday. do you have any suggestions on where i should go, or what should i do??

When each of my friends turned 21 we went to Pat O'Brien's which cards at 21. Then we headed to a few other bars/clubs we like on Bourbon and we end the night at Cat's Meow. We did the whole "Bourbon Street" thing. Start off with a nice dinner somewhere in the Quarter. Depends on how pricey you want to go but there are a few really good spots to try if you've never been there. Carmelo's has really good Italian food, try the crawfish ravioli or 4 cheese pasta dish. It's decent prices for F.Q. dining. Then there's Mike Anderson's for a casual seafood dinner. Dishes range from $10-20. You could always order the seafood platters (fried & broiled) and split them. Each platter feeds 2-3 people. I used to work at Mike Anderson's so I vouch for their food. Let me know if you have any other questions. If you're looking for an off-Bourbon night let me know and I'll think some more for ya.

i was thinking more in terms of just the quarter in general. i think decatur might some great places. i know they have coyote ugly. anyway, i dont have that many of my friends around me anymore, and they're all either busy or moved away someplace else.

are there any good places that you would recommend where you could go alone by yourself, and be with total strangers, yet still have just as much fun and party with them as if you allready knew them, just in case.

if that doesn't work out for me, at the very least i could just get totally fudge up in my crappy dorm with the butt-holes i noramlly have hanged out with. * wink *

Go out with or without friends. I know there's a cover charge at Coyote Ugly so we never go there. Try Cat's Meow on Bourbon. There's karaoke so you're guaranteed a good time... especially when people try to sing and find that they can't carry a tune and/or don't know the words and can't read the tv screen because they're so wasted. At Razoo's you can get on the dance floor and guys will dance with you all the time. It's one big party. Bring at least one person with you, for safety's sake. Make sure you have someone to walk you to your car or bring you home. I'd hate to walk to my car by myself even on a Monday night.

Oh good! I was beginning to get worried about you. I'll send you another Blockbuster calendar if you like.

I hope I can find a pizza box size styrofoam. * laughing out loud * Most are the 12 by 15 inches. It's earier to find the size that I use to sculpt names. Which are 12x15 inch sheets & 4x4 inch blocks. I think it would be a great idea if it were within the size range that I stated above. Other thatn that it's a fabulous idea.

 * laughing out loud * I'll try Cat's Meow then.

Razoo's, hym, well, since i am a guy, i dont think i would so much care if or not guys would want to dance with me, nor would they. if i really wanted to, i'am sure i could find a gay bar somewheres * wink * , but i think i'd pass on that one.

oh, i haven't really considered safty. it never came across my mind as an issue. i just assumed i would be safe anywhere. maybe bourbon will be packed enough so that i could just blend in with faceless strangers. if someone really wanted to attack someone, they might not be able to tell whose with who or by themselves. i dont know, maybe i should find someone.

as far as transportantion is concerned, i think i forgot to mention, if i did go to the quarter, i'd get there by bus. i doubt i'd have to worry about getting to the bus stop saftly. the corner of st peters and canal is pretty packed and i think it's safe. and also, since i would take the bus, i could drink all i want, since drunk driving wouldnt be an issue either. the only problem would be that it would feel kind of awkward getting on a bus being all buzed up while a bunch of people just getting of off work might stare at me funny. then again, if you have alcholoh in your system, you probably wouldn't care either.

btw: what time does this whole karaoke thing starts. and at what time would you recomend to go there (when is the most fun time, well you know what i mean)??
wolfchik9
(reply to southernyankee) posted 14-Jan-2003 3:34pm
Sorry, I was thinking from my own perspective! * smile * We usually go somewhere between 9 and 10pm. I'm not sure when the karaoke starts but I'm sure it start early. You can go anywhere after 6pm and it'll be dark by then so the happy hours might be going and you might be able to catch a few good deals before the night rush. Bourbon Street Blues Club (BBC) is fun. They have a 3-for-1 special most of the time. Just taking a walk down Bourbon can give you a few ideas as to where you might want to go. Judge the crowd and the people who go in which places.
