| LindaH | posted 29-Oct-2002 3:52pm No option for just plain 'no'? I think we all know how the results here will look. |
| Biggles | posted 29-Oct-2002 3:53pm I have done in the past, in soup. But I supppose I never will again. |
| jekaba | posted 29-Oct-2002 3:54pm yes, i tried, no one would listen...romkey insisted. so i changed my vote to reasonable for HIM ONLY. big |
| anoddoblivion | posted 29-Oct-2002 4:26pm I wished there was a plain 'no' answer like we asked and asked and asked for in qualification, so I wouldn't have to answer 'other'. |
| Iseult | posted 29-Oct-2002 4:33pm Nope. I don't even know what animal beef comes from. |
| romkey | (reply to jekaba) posted 29-Oct-2002 4:46pm don't tell lies. I complained that you were subverting the qualification process by voting hopelessly flawed to clear out surveys that only needed work. |
| Enheduanna | posted 29-Oct-2002 5:10pm I've never tried it, but I don't know that I never would. |
| jekaba | (reply to romkey) posted 29-Oct-2002 5:15pm tell what lies? i was doing no such thing. again, what are the lies? i changed my vote on this survey so you all could see i was telling the TRUTH. so what are you talking about? that was the second time around for the same survey with no changes made despite all the requests. it takes 5 HF votes, not one. again, what the hell are you talking about? |
| Biggles | (reply to jekaba) posted 29-Oct-2002 5:26pm He hardly insisted. |
| jekaba | (reply to Biggles) posted 29-Oct-2002 5:28pm insisted WHAT? |
| jekaba | (reply to Biggles) posted 29-Oct-2002 5:29pm oh, i see i think he insisted the survey was fine. is that what you mean? he didnt insist i change my vote. is that what you mean? please be a little more direct, all... thanks |
| jekaba | posted 29-Oct-2002 5:33pm so anyway, i have proved my point well enough i think. as it turns out, I WAS RIGHT. also as it turns out, its not a very good survey. check the stats. |
| juliw | posted 29-Oct-2002 5:36pm Not that I know of. It sounds very gross, and I don't want to try it. I have seen oxtail soup in stores, but I refuse to try it. |
| juliw | (reply to Iseult) posted 29-Oct-2002 5:37pm Beef comes from cows. |
| Biggles | (reply to jekaba) posted 29-Oct-2002 5:42pm He didn't insist that you change your vote. |
| jekaba | (reply to Biggles) posted 29-Oct-2002 5:55pm I NEVER SAID HE DID please stay out of this if you arent going to read it right. wasnt speaking to you was talking to romkey in the first place. will talk to romkey |
| Biggles | (reply to jekaba) posted 29-Oct-2002 6:08pm Maybe if you used slightly better English, what you're trying to say would be clearer. There are infinite possible interpretations of what you said. |
| jekaba | (reply to Biggles) posted 29-Oct-2002 6:32pm except i wasnt speaking to you as i have already stated. maybe if you minded your own business you would not be so confused. sorry, but you stuck your nose in between romkey and me. like i said, i will talk to romkey... |
| Zang | posted 29-Oct-2002 6:35pm When I was a kid, my mom used to make oxtail soup. It was alright, not one of my favourites, but nothing at all wrong with it either. The bone is sort of like cartilage and the meat around it isn't much different from stewing beef. I haven't had it for more than 20 years I'm sure, but I used to eat it fairly often before that. Not having ever tasted pee, I can't draw a comparison there... |
| romkey | (reply to jekaba) posted 29-Oct-2002 6:35pm "romkey insisted". I complained about you voting hopelessly flawed on surveys that weren't hopelessly flawed. I never insisted that you vote reasonable. Anyone who cares can see for themselves under Advanced Stats. |
| jekaba | (reply to romkey) posted 29-Oct-2002 6:37pm I NEVER SAID YOU DID what you insisted is that the survey was fine and you were appalled it was being held up. so i changed my vote to reasonable...FOR YOU. so you would see that i was right and i was. i told you and everyone else all along. now what? wanna meet in chat? |
| jekaba | (reply to romkey) posted 29-Oct-2002 6:40pm you still havent answered my questions |
| jekaba | (reply to romkey) posted 29-Oct-2002 6:52pm ok, romkey i have to go. if i can come back later, i will. i would really like to speak to you, preferably in chat where we can actually converse with eachother. i think we can clear this up - you and I. maybe you could even give me a clue of when is a good time? if not, thats ok too. later. |
| Irene007 | posted 29-Oct-2002 7:03pm Osso Boco! Delicious! |
| joachim | posted 29-Oct-2002 7:08pm Other: no I haven't had it but I would try it. Strange that this answer was missing. |
| Biggles | (reply to jekaba) posted 29-Oct-2002 7:43pm You weren't talking to anyone in particular. If you were, you should have used the reply function and you would have said "you" rather than "romkey" |
| Iseult | (reply to juliw) posted 29-Oct-2002 7:44pm So beef tail is cow's tail? |
| romkey | (reply to jekaba) posted 29-Oct-2002 8:16pm You said "romkey insisted. so i changed my vote to reasonable for HIM ONLY". Exact quote. And that's incorrect. I never insisted that you vote reasonable. Why in the world are you yelling at Biggles for responding to a public comment in a public survey? Do you have any idea how high-strung and ridiculous your messages appear? |
| magbast | posted 29-Oct-2002 10:54pm wow, all the arguing over beef tail (wtf is it?) |
| spidertea | posted 30-Oct-2002 12:59am Vegan! |
| spidertea | (reply to magbast) posted 30-Oct-2002 1:37am I too was unaware that beef tail could cause such an uprising. |
| Lex | posted 30-Oct-2002 5:40am Had oxtail soup (is this the same thing?) but not anymore. Not since BSE as its an extension of the spine. |
| Biggles | (reply to Lex) posted 30-Oct-2002 6:06am If you want to eat beef, go ahead, but make sure it's British beef and definitely NOT French. |
| Cain | posted 30-Oct-2002 6:07am Um......va? |
| Dino | posted 30-Oct-2002 7:21am If your talking about Oxtail then yes. In Oxtail soup. I love Oxtail soup. Haven't had it for ages though - I must get some. |
| Lex | (reply to Biggles) posted 30-Oct-2002 9:28am beef is fine.. But i'm going to stay clear of cheap cuts and definately anything to do with the spine. |
| jekaba | (reply to romkey) posted 30-Oct-2002 10:04am ROMKEY: you obviously wont listen to reason. you are not going far enough back regarding the comments. you have to go all the way back to qual comments where you insisted not once but twice that the survey was fine and you didnt know why it was being held up. so in qual i said ok. i will change my vote to reasonable for romkey so the survey will pass. (since you were so sure the survey was good which as you can see DID turn out to be anonymous and isnt such a hot survey either.) just like i said. actually my comment that obviously confused biggles was meant for joalis. i think anyone could see that. i was no where near yelling at anyone. BUT if you dont mind people answering for you that is your business. i wasnt speaking to that person. they certainly can reply to anyone anytime thats their option. i asked nicely to stay out of it. i really just wanted to talk to YOU, romkey. whatever, dude, i was right and you know it. who even cares anymore? i dont. i hope this clears it up for you. if not well i dont know, cuz i am done with it. unless you want to actually converse with me in chat or something just forget it. this messaging back an forth this way is subjective and seemingly futile. |
| Biggles | (reply to Lex) posted 30-Oct-2002 10:41am Spine is probably okay too in British beef. I wouldn't eat it myself even if I wasn't a vegetarian but it's probably okay. |
| Jemmy | posted 30-Oct-2002 12:22pm Not that I know enough. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 30-Oct-2002 1:51pm As I asked before, is beef tail the same as ox tail? |
| Zang | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 30-Oct-2002 3:29pm An ox is a castrated bull. They are primarily used for work; pulling carts, plows etc.. "Beef" is the name of the meat which comes from that animal; cows, bulls, oxen...Of course "veal" is only from the calf, the young animal. I suspect that the term "oxtail" is used because it has a nice ring to it. I doubt that the animal is required to be castrated for that designation, or even male for that matter... |
| Dino | posted 30-Oct-2002 3:33pm Okay, Survey Creator you made me go to the supermarket tonight and buy a can of Oxtail soup. I'm sure that wasn't your intention but I very much enjoyed it. |
| juliw | (reply to Iseult) posted 30-Oct-2002 5:31pm yep |
| anonymous | (reply to jekaba) posted 30-Oct-2002 10:31pm wow you are really one high strung dog! |
| magbast | (reply to spidertea) posted 31-Oct-2002 2:37am We must put a stop to it...boycott beef tail (where the fudge would i buy it anyways?) |
| Maarten | posted 31-Oct-2002 9:23am Ox tail soup, yes. |
| mandy | posted 1-Nov-2002 11:58am Hmmmm I've had oxtail soup? |
| mandy | (reply to jekaba) posted 1-Nov-2002 12:02pm Grow up. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Zang) posted 1-Nov-2002 3:37pm IC, thank you Master Zang. |

| monica_potter | posted 2-Nov-2002 6:36am Never heard of it. But I dunno it depends. Probably not. |
| autumnlight | posted 2-Nov-2002 6:29pm I've never heard of it or seen it sold. But I would probably try it. |
| starrpickle | posted 4-Nov-2002 1:05pm I don't know what that is does it taste like chicken |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Zang) posted 4-Nov-2002 1:26pm |
| clare | posted 2-Aug-2006 12:23am I've never tried it or even seen it at the supermarket. That doesn't mean I wouldn't give it a try. |
