The same answer I gave on the "friendliness" survey. |

I would know this how? I've never been out of the state. |

very good very exelent question. who are our biggest butt-holes, the selfish city dwelers who don't care completely about each other as they pass each other by only chiling showing Max Webers' predictions comming all too true, or the country dwelers who never leveave you alone, alaways care what you do and always into your bussiness and at times very intolarnt. I guess it all depends on who you are. If you happen to be looking for some interpersonal relationship or just need some help or anything, then stick with the warm loving neighbors in small towns and avoid the cold large city. If you happen to be a woman with ambish, a minority, gay or simply want freedom, take the city. Neithre one is a bigger butt-hole, its just that theyr different butt-holes in therir own way. Forutantly i lived in the suburds. That way i got a little taste of each |

Um, prison? I'm saying no specific area, although people have a different way of expressing themselves in different locales. |

Not having been to all 50 states I can't answer this. |

My big city neighbors have always been neighborly. Depends on who you are, not where you are. People are friendlier with those they know. Rurally, that tends to be the neighbors. In big cities, people network with the clicks they choose, like the band scene or volleyball scene. Tiny towns are like relatives, you have to get along cause you're stuck with these folks and anything you do will be held against you in the grapevine of law. If you want strangers to smile and wave back in big cities, it can be done, it's just not what they expect; you have to put yourself out there. Homeowners are more likely to invest in learning their neighbors than apartment dwellers, for pragmatic reasons; They're likely to be around by next christmas and the one following. The people aren't any more or less friendly, they just distribute themselves differently. |

As I said in the survey about friendly people in the U.S., I haven't been any farther than Nebraska so I can't answer this. |

I guess New Yorkers? |

Uh...there are unfriendly people everywhere, regardless of which part. But I do recall (and I don't want to offend anyone) that people in Arizona are very cold. |

From my experience, Hollywood. |

Considering I'm white, and the places which are most dangerous for me are black or hispanic neighbourhoods in cities, I ticked "In large cities". |

Ohio...damn what a bunch rude-ass-weirdos...we live in the subturds. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to Zang) posted 22-Oct-2002 9:21pm |
Yeah, well your experience sucks. Hollywood for me has been like one of those beatnik bars of yonder where people take out to talk sweetly metaphysical about how their retail shop runs, and anyone on the sidewalk's game for joining a conversation. It's the yuppie toursists likely to be coldest, and only because they're aghastly mesmerized by betty-boop snow-globes and giant pink plume lingerie, unaware that the real hollywood is now west of beverly on the strip full of alice-in-chains style thai restaurants. Seriously, what did you find there? |

Sleaze, filth, racism and an underlying atmosphere of potential violence. Other than that it was like a magical fairyland. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to Zang) posted 23-Oct-2002 1:13pm |
Ok, actually I have spotted some of that there. |

Bear in mind that my experience took place on a very hot Friday evening/night in late August 1984. Things have likely improved since then. |

They just crammed in a new shopping mall with a kodak theater, and an animated billboard. Giant mesopotamian sculptures sit on the roof. Other than that, it's probably what you'd call a small town by now. Familiar shops doing a worn routine. |

I don't know, I haven't really travelled the country enough to judge. I'd have to say those in large cities because there's so much stress and traffic. |

Rude people are everywhere. I don't think they all gravitate to just on general area. But then again............they have a grip of those rude people living right here in my own neighborhood.
GOD!!!!! I hate Murrieta/Temecula suburbanites!!! They all went from rude PTA mini van driving jerks to, huge got a better SUV than you drive,butt-holes. They all think that their .............well you know where I''m going with this. |

I don't know. I've never been. If it's anything like the UK than there won't be a specific place. Everywhere is full of horrible people, and a few nice ones! |

They can be hiding anywhere and come in all shapes sizes etc. |
