| teatree | posted 10-Oct-2002 1:56am A dress, white panties, a white undershirt, white ankle sock, saddle oxfords. The undergarments are easy as everything our grandmother bought was white. The shoes were either black and white or brown or white which were the only two combinations offered. The dress, I'm not certain what color the dress was, but since most of my dresses had white Peter Pan collars I know it had that. |
| bcollins | posted 10-Oct-2002 2:17am I'm absolutely certain it was clothes. Yep, definitely clothes. Jeans of some kind, a shirt of some kind, shoes of some kind, white socks and white underwear. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 10-Oct-2002 2:32am Clothes. |
| weepydebacho | posted 10-Oct-2002 4:28am I'm home schooled and have been since kindergarten/first grade. I wear jeans, shorts or a dress, basically whatever I feel and depending on what time of year it is and how hot or cold it is. |
| Irene007 | posted 10-Oct-2002 6:50am I can't remember... It must have been a dress though. |
| Irene007 | (reply to weepydebacho) posted 10-Oct-2002 6:52am That's MUCH better than public school! Are your parents teachers or did they just decide that it was best for you? |
| Dino | posted 10-Oct-2002 7:11am So let me get this straight - you want me do describe my underwear as a pre-schooler. Are you the one who's been creating these dodgy surveys lately. I don't honestly remember. |
| Dino | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 10-Oct-2002 7:12am I've heard of flippantly answering surveys but to flippantly answer your very own survey is another matter! |

| bandit1cat | posted 10-Oct-2002 12:40pm Underwear, white of course, socks - must have been black 'cause I've never worn any other color all my life. Beyond that, who the hell knows? Oviously, some kind of shirt and slacks. No jacket because it still would have been warm out. No hat either. Never have liked hats. I get a headache wearing any kind of hat. |

| weepydebacho | (reply to Irene007) posted 10-Oct-2002 3:36pm Our local high school is bad. The majority of the town is made up of senior citizens who repeatedly vote down measures to improve the high school. Most of the computers are not internet capable, the textbooks are out of date (Nixon is still president in the Social Studies text). I tried going part of a year at the high school and found myself at least 2 years ahead of the other students. As you can imagine I was pretty bored. My mother isn't a licensed teacher, but I think she's doing a pretty good job teaching me because I'm 16 and I'm studying at the equivalent level of a high school senior. |

| Galomorro | posted 10-Oct-2002 8:42pm Hah - are you kidding? I cannot remember most of high school, much less anything about when I was a little kid! I zoned out in a big way when I was in school and have totally forgotten most of school because it was so traumatic to me. |
| lily333 | posted 10-Oct-2002 9:42pm I wore a little green polyester jumper with a white stripe down the side of it. Very gaudy. I thought I looked so cute in it except my dad got my haircut and I looked like a boy and some kid on the bus asked me if I was a boy or a girl. I felt bad. I don't remember the socks and underwear. |

| Irene007 | (reply to weepydebacho) posted 11-Oct-2002 8:14am Fantastic! I agree, public schools suck! They have programs that suit the majority but some students fall through the cracks. My son is a good example, he was so bored with his classes that he was a nuisance to the others. He would take the first 5 minutes to understand what's going on and then spend the rest of the class listening to the teacher go over it again and again for the others. His math teacher recommended him for a special programme in electronics. It was a "God send"! He loves it and he is doing very well. He'll be going to college in January and will already be ahead one year. His teacher (the man responsible for this programme) is dedicated; there should more like him... |
| Zang | posted 11-Oct-2002 8:44am Indian sweater with a zipper up the front. I don't know what kind of shirt. Light blue slacks, black socks, black oxfords, and tighty whities. |

| weepydebacho | (reply to Irene007) posted 11-Oct-2002 10:39pm My friends who attend the high school say that for the most part the teachers are okay, but the real problem here lies with a badly funded school system. Students need to learn computer skills if they are to compete in today's business world, they need textbooks that aren't 30 years out of date. I'm so glad to hear that your son was fortunate enough to have a teacher like that. Where will he be attending college? |
| Irene007 | (reply to weepydebacho) posted 11-Oct-2002 11:20pm Unfortunately, the worst rated college in Montreal (College du Vieux Montreal) but his programme is tied into this particular college because of the electronic facilities there. It has a reputation for having drug problems but Mat (our son) is not easily impressed. He is too busy looking to the future and cannot wait to go to university (he's already foaming at the mouth to get there!). His teacher, yearly, refers his star student to a really sharp audio-visual enterprise and this year Mat was the one! His is very excited to get an apprenticeship with these people. Aw... That kid has the wind in his sails! I'm very happy for him. (of course, his teacher can't take all the credit, I think we had something to do with it!) And what do you plan to study? Have you picked a college yet? |
| weepydebacho | (reply to Irene007) posted 12-Oct-2002 9:51am I think he will do fine and I wouldn't worry about the drug problem there. You said he's not easily impressed so I wouldn't worry about the drug problem too much. I know you will worry somewhat, though, because you're a parent and parents worry about their kids even when they are adults. I'm thinking about becoming a veternarian, but I'm still debating which college in my state has the best program. |
| SueBee | posted 12-Oct-2002 1:05pm Shoes, socks, undies, pants, shirt, coat. That's all the detail I can recall! Actually, I may have even worn a dress, but I've blocked that torture from my mind. |
| dora | (reply to SueBee) posted 12-Oct-2002 2:43pm Is wearing a dress so bad? |
| Irene007 | (reply to weepydebacho) posted 12-Oct-2002 11:49pm Veterinarian! I wanted to do that!! My daughter wanted to do it too but somehow, life got in the way! Do it! You really have to concentrate on your studies and stick to it if you want it! May I recommend a book? It's called; "All Creatures Great and Small" by James Herriot. This book may inspire you enough to stay with it for your whole lifetime! (Ask your Mom to get it for you for Christmas, she'll be doing you a favour!) |
| SueBee | (reply to dora) posted 13-Oct-2002 12:27am It was for me. I always hated wearing dresses. I liked to play sports and climb on the playground equipment during school recess. That was much easier to do wearing pants. |
| weepydebacho | (reply to Irene007) posted 13-Oct-2002 1:58am I've read all of James Herriot's books already. They are wonderful! |
| juliw | posted 13-Oct-2002 11:49am How the hell should I know? It was in 1959. I probably wore a dress of some kind, because back then, that was little girls wore to school. Or a jumper. I probably also wore underpants, socks, and black Mary Jane shoes. |
| sonikJ | posted 13-Oct-2002 1:00pm My very first day of school, back in September of 1983...I wore a wool plaid skirt and sweater set with a white blouse. I think I had on my "Monday" underwear and a little pair of white cable-knit tights with saddle oxford shoes. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to romkey) posted 14-Oct-2002 3:11am My sister got one of those cone-shaped canning colanders stuck on her head when she was around 4 years old. She actually managed to get it down over her ears and then of course couldn't get it off. We were playing dress-up and she decided that it would make an interesting hat. My grandmother greased up my hand with Crisco shortening (her hand was too large) and started greasing up my sister's head so she could pull the colander off. I don't know who was crying harder, my sister because the colander rubbed some of the skin off her ears or me because I had Crisco all over my hand and I HATED getting dirty! With a lot of tugging and pulling on my grandmother's part the colander finally came off and then my sister had to have her head shampooed several times to remove all the Crisco. Neither of us were happy-campers that day. |

| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to romkey) posted 14-Oct-2002 11:24am The visual of her wearing it is amusing, but the experience of getting it off her head wasn't. Ouch, indeed! |

| LindaH | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 15-Jan-2003 11:54pm are you the sc user that was saying you were having trouble with your hair falling out? I don't know how long ago or if it's too late or what, but if you think it's worth a try, there's a shampoo called Nioxin that works for some people, if you use it in time. (If it hasn't been too long) I'm just trying to be helpful, but if you are not the sc user that has this problem, I will be embarrassed! |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 16-Jan-2003 12:40am No, that wasn't me. I do have thin hair, but that started back when I was 13 due to an undiagnosed underactive thyroid problem. I'm afraid that it's probably too late for this shampoo to do much good, but I appreciate you telling me about it and PLEASE don't be embarrassed. |
