We used to smoke tea at high school,me and my friends. We thought we were very smart and hip, that nobody else was doing it.Really,I haven't seen anybody else doing it,but if you did too it must been quite a fashionable thing.Or maybe we were trendsetters * wink *
Now that I think about it,maybe someone took this habit from someone....only in our whole school and city too I guess I never knew of someone smoking tea.

Did you know that the euphemism "having a tea party" used to refer to smoking marijuana (this was many years ago).

There was some sort of thing hanging on a tree outside our house when I was a kid. I don't know what it was but we lit one of the things up and tried to smoke it. There wasn't any effect. We were just stupid kids probably between 10 and 15 at the time.

I tried to smoke a cigarette with my husband once, but I couldn't hack it. Pun intended.

We tried to smoke the bags. All that happened was that the bag caught fire and all the tea spilt out. I think it's just kids looking around for other leaves that might give them a buzz. I'm sure people have been trying to smoke tea, and other things, for centuries.

Well, you can't smoke mescaline. You can't smoke ketamine. You can't smoke morphine or fentanyl, either. They all combust prior to vaporizing at normal pressure. As far as the rest? I've smoked quite a few. No crack though. Not that I have anything against it.

I've smoked tea before. It has effects. A good idea is to mix it 3:1 with tobacco and smoke it from a pipe. It'll make the tobacco swallow smoother, creating an interesting state of nicotine intoxication+some of the (sedative) effects of the tea leaves.

I knew someone was going to ask that * smile * . Caffeine doesn't vaporize at normal pressures, it burns (and burnt caffeine isn't caffeine, it's just various chemicals in the smoke). So the 'stimulant' in tea, the caffeine, isn't active when smoked. However, there are all sorts of psychoactive compounds in the tea (especially if it has other herbs in it), and those tend to be sedatives, and do vaporize.

Even when consumed orally, this is why herbal tea doesn't make most people 'edgy'. There is some caffeine in it, yes, but there are sedatives as well.

Most people are surprised to discover that the common fruits and vegetables we eat, are basically the only plants that are not (particularly) psychoactive-- don't get me wrong, everything from Apples to celery has some chemicals in it which affect the mind, but they aren't consumed in large enough quantities for most people to notice (though, if you were to open a few apples, and remove the thick casing around the seeds on the inside, and eat about 2-3 grams of that, there would be some effects (I don't suggest it, they also contain some poisons)). All herbs have active chemicals in them.

I smoked cigarettes for 15 years and quit for 7 years now. When I was a teenager I smoked alot of pot. I also smoked hash a few times. Is that different than hashish? They are both on the list but I thought they were the same thing.
kaleb777
(reply to cody) posted 5-Oct-2002 10:35pm
I though afterwards that you could smoke everything with some effect from it all. I mean with enough smoke from a house fire you die. Surely the body would feel different simply because it is getting less O2, even if all the other chemicals are ignored.
cody
(reply to kaleb777) posted 5-Oct-2002 11:36pm
True. However, when someone says that they smoked powder cocaine, or LSD, or whatever... and got normal effects from it, they are just being foolish. They had placebo effects, generally enhanced by the marijuana they were also smoking at the time.

If you stepped on a banana peel you could fall and hit your head hard enough to fracture your skull. Other than that, I don't see a real problem with banana peels unless they are from giant bananas like in the Woody Allen movie "Sleeper" which had a gag with a giant banana and a giant banana peel.

By herbal tea I just mean flavored tea, as opposed to simply 'tea'. I think for the most part we all buy packaged tea's, it depends what brand you buy whats in it, of course.

Flea control? I should tell my daughter about it, she has 2 cats. Just yesterday we were talking about a local product called "O-poil" (it's a French play on words and I can't really translate it because it's a local lingo thing). It's a pill you give the animal, like a supplement, composed of liver oil and god knows what else to help control hair loss. I'm told that it's quite effective but rather expensive. The pill is so big, I can see that it would be easy to administer to a dog but a cat would look like it swallowed a golf ball!
How does your stuff work? Is it used externally on the animal or must they ingest it?
