How many fingers do you have?

VotesAnswer
40Ten
16Less than ten.
4More than ten.
1I don't know, because I for one don't plan to count each and every finger on my hand, and some are in storage as well.

Ten. One of my uncle's is short part of a finger from a carpentry mistake, and I once met a woman with a small, underdeveloped extra finger on each hand. That was odd, to say the least.

This is a good survey, although I suspect there will be a lot of pointless argument about the "thumb" issue.

I don't think it's as odd as most people think. Usually they are surgically removed shortly after birth but I think extra digits happen a lot more frequently than most other birth defects. My twin aunts were six-fingered and six-toed.

Fair enough; I'd simply never seen it before. Also, this is a grown woman. Either she takes the extra (nonfunctional) digits as a gift from G-d or she just hasn't got the money, time, or interest to do anything about them...

When I lived in hillbillyville, NC there were lots of deformities like that around. There was one man who had fingers without knuckles.. the fingernails were where the knuckles should be.. the weird thing was that his daughter's fingers were the same way. Also, at our pediatrician's office, there were two nurses who were twins, one of them had severely deformed hands.

Growing up we had a our neighbor had an aunt that would visit from time to time that did not have arms.. her hands grew right out of her shoulders.. her husband(yes, she had one) had to wipe her ass for her.

HA!
I mean...dang.

I hang out in an NC chatroom quite a bit because I have a very close friend who "unfortunately" lives there. I have seen and heard some things I never would have believed. One fella looked at my profile pic and messaged me, and I quote:

"dang girl your sure purty, but why so melon collie?"

 * laughing out loud * I had conversations with people like that every time I left the house I think... You don't see very many smart ones. Well, I shouldn't say that.. they're smart in a different way.. Like little old ladies that have been plucking chickens and picking cotton by hand since they were 4.. It's like the opposite of street smart. Farm smart?
