| Biggles | (reply to Dino) posted 24-Sep-2002 9:29am Were you thinking of HSBC? I know the first thing that came to my mind was the US tv channel, but that's HBO (last episode of the current season of Oz tonight!) |
| Enheduanna | posted 24-Sep-2002 10:07am I have no idea. |

| Dino | (reply to Biggles) posted 24-Sep-2002 10:52am I checked google after to get the name of the bank and came up with the answer of the above. Honestly I checked afterwards. I'm right. Still non the wiser though. Never heard of them. |

| Zang | posted 25-Sep-2002 3:59am Founded in 1670, the Hudson's Bay Company's (HBC) chief interests for its first two centuries were the fur trade, exploration and settlement. After 1870, when its territory of Rupert's Land was incorporated into the Dominion of Canada, its interests became more varied. Today, as Canada's largest non-food retailer, it is best known for its national chain of department stores, the Bay and Zellers. http://www.gov.mb.ca/chc/archives/hbca/ |
| kirst | posted 25-Sep-2002 4:44am no clue...it reminds me of HSBC which is the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Company! |
| wolfchik9 | posted 25-Sep-2002 6:13am No earthly clue... Hudson's Bay Company? |
| Dino | (reply to kirst) posted 25-Sep-2002 7:57am So, that's what it stands for. They never tell you that. Worried I guess that people will get all xenophobic and not join because its not British. They seem to do a good service - which is what counts at the end of the day. |
| kirst | (reply to Dino) posted 25-Sep-2002 8:42am It's actually the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (I opened a statement after writing this today). |
| joachim | posted 25-Sep-2002 8:45am This is a really good survey. Almost as good as the "what the hell is wrong with the Canadians, anyway" survey. Every time I go to canada I am plagued and tormented by this question (and for months afterward, too). Why oh why do those Canadians make life so unbearably difficult for their Southern cousins? I hope it's HBC I'm remembering. |
| joachim | (reply to kirst) posted 25-Sep-2002 8:46am Oh, I was thinking of HSBC but I still reserve the right to be mad at all Canadians. |

| Strider | posted 6-Oct-2002 11:58pm Acctully three of them are correct but the most correct is Hudson's Bay Company. Here before Calgary is correct in the city of Edmonton and also the Hudson's Bay Comapny was her in Canada before any christien religion. |
