What TV shows that are not of American production do you watch?

I thought about this a lot lately. Everytime I turn the TV I go and watch either 'Frasier', 'Everybody Loves Raymond', or some other TV show of American production. But what about those that aren't?

If you do not live in the USA and you watch mainly shows from your own country, then what shows of USA production do you watch?

Only 'Monarch of the Glen'. I used to watch 'Road to Avonlea', but then it got boring. YOu see here in Canada, I can only think of like three Canadian TV shows... Oh, I would be watching 'Terra Nova', too, but it's not in English.

I don't watch any American TV shows with any consistency, although we are without doubt saturated with them in the UK. Especially on satellite TV. In fact there's only one show I can think of that is must see for me at the moment, and that's "Phoenix Nights".

Counting only shows I've recently seen on cable rather than bought on DVD, there's some Japanese animation (Dragonball Z, Dirty Pair, Yuyu Hakusho), some British shows (The Avengers, Monty Python, Yes, Minister), and does Farscape count?

Since I like news and documentaries, almost all I watch are Australian or British. When I had cable I never watched US news channels because that's all they showed, US news. I mean when that bomb went off in the crowd at the Atlanta Olympics that's all CNN showed for 2 days! BBC World and Sky show news from everywhere. I also enjoy comedy, and these tend to be American. I like Raymond and Frasier, Becker is OK, old Seinfeld episodes, The Simpsons and Just Shoot Me. US comedy has certainly improved since the days of Family Ties! I don't watch any US drama at all. I tend to watch British dramas if I ever do since they are more gritty and real.

I live in Costa Rica, which has exactly four local channels--and every single minute of the programming is hysterically tacky. So I hardly don't watch it, except when one of my friends has a commercial or something. I used to watch this lovely, high-quality primetime soap opera from Colombia called "La Baby Sister" but it ended in June. I miss it every day, which says something for what kind of person I am * raspberry * Disney bought the rights and if you have some kind of cable you could probably catch a glimpse of it sometime.

Since the 'what shows of USA production do you watch' applies to me...my current favorites are "Six Feet Under" and "Sex and the City". Also "Friends" (which everyone watches...reruns air on two different channels every day on basic cable and there are few teenagers who don't know most of the scripts from old episodes by heart), "Scrubs", "That 70's Show" and "Smallville".

BTW: Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor from "Smallville"), Ashton Kutcher, Kelly Hiu and Carmen Electra were here over the weekend for the opening of some casino. My friends saw them in a mall and I slept late and didn't meet them...I could've gotten Ashton's autograph! Argh!!! That makes me sound like a total "Tiger Beat" subscriber but it's just that so few celebrities come here...and less bands on tour. Although Red Hot Chili Peppers are giving a concert here on October 2nd (God bless their hearts) and I can guarantee that more than three quarters of the entire population ages 13-25 will turn out.

I don't live in America but almost everything that I watch is American. We get a lot of the best stuff imported (and some utter drivel too! I saw an episode of the Fawlty Towers remake - Payne - and it was appallingly bad!!!). I watch the West Wing, Six Feet Under, Stargate: SG1, etc.....

I'm struggling to think of British programmes that I watch. Mainly current affairs (the news - especially the BBC's News at Ten and C4's 7pm broadcast, programmes like Newsnight occasionally) and documentaries. The odd one-off short series. At the moment, Britain really doesn't do long series very well - there's the soaps (which are crap - except for Night and Day which isn't really a soap at all and that I have a certain fondness for - I wish I'd seen it from the start). I still watch The Bill despite it's descent into soapiness and the use of daft storylines to grab viewers (a recent kiss between two male officers in uniform got 300 complaints - great publicity.....) I can't think of anything else that I currently watch that isn't American. Even Farscape is made by an American team isn't it?

My only complaints were...1)I ALWAYS seemed to get a guy with super-sweaty hands! and 2)The guys would take turns belching in the microphone used by the boys' gym teacher to call the dance moves. Of course they did this before the teachers were in the gym.

And to they. Why do you two prefer Trading Spaces over Changing Rooms?

I've thought what I like about each of them and I think I've figured out what it is for me.

Trading Spaces an hour long and spends more time explaining HOW to do all the do-it-yourself stuff. However, the people are boring. Besides, I like Alex McLeod, Paige Davis doesn't have that cool huskiness to her voice. Paige Davis is more like a DIY version of Kathie Lee Gifford.

Changing rooms gets my vote as the better of the two. The personalities are much more interesting and the rooms look so much nicer. Sure, they act like you can just pop off and do this and that and make it all look easy. But they have more charm and character.

That was way back at the end of the first season! Mrs Landingham (sp?) died at the end of the second. We've just seen the episode with her funeral. Amazing stuff! Me and my mum got into it as soon as they started watching it but my younger brother wasn't keen at all. Then he saw an episode and decided he wanted to watch all of them so I've been rewatching them with him (ah, the wonders of a vcr * smile * ). We're about half way through the second season with the rewatches now. It's still good a second time around!

But he was lucky, we had to wait 6 months to find out who got shot and then another weeks to find out if he was going to survive. My little brother went from season 1 to season 2 in a night!

One of teh digital channels has started showing season 3 now but I just have 4 of the terrestrial channels. We have to wait until next year for season 3 * surprise *

I think you can go to www.nbc.com to find out the episode listing and recaps. That's the channel that produces the show.

The show comes on here on Wednesdays, so I never plan to do anything on that night. I refer to that day of the week as West Wing Wednesday.

I don't speak a bit of Latin but watching him rage against God in the cathedral, that was quite something. I didn't find out until I read the review in the paper the next day what he actually said. Before the West Wing, Martin Sheen was just an actor that I'd never seen in anything, washed up, from the past (I'm young remember!) but from his first entrance in the first episode! What an actor!

We bought the dvds of the second half of season 1 recently. The extras aren't great, about all that there is is three different adverts for the West Wing that were shown on US tv. Oh my word! You have to put up with some cheesy adverts! * grin *
