We need companies to give their workers a wage they can live on so they don't have to decide whether to pay rent or buy food or medicine, but are able to afford life necessities. Less hunger, homelessness, hate (all hate), intolerance and much, much less John Ashcroft and his plans to subvert our hard-won freedoms!

Less hate crimes, less poverty related problems such as homelessness and hunger. More affordable health insurance, more living wage jobs so people can support their families, more emphasis on collecting child support so that the custodial parent doesn't have to struggle to raise their child/children.

The world needs less hate and more love. More problems come from hatred of one group against another then anything else in my opinion. September 11th was a direct result of hatred toward's the American people and their way of life.

True democracy or representative democracy? Mostly I hate the idea of direct democracy (on a national scale) but right now I wish that I had a vote on whether Britain backs Bush's war with Iraq. I suppose as a supporter of representative democracy I should just bite the bullet (no pun intended) and accept that my country's leaders are going to make decisions that I wholeheartedly disagree with. Not to say that I won't be firing off letters to my MP of course *smile*

BTW, welcome to Survey Central. It's a nice community and it attracts a lot of intelligent literate people (and the odd troll....) I hope you stick around, from the comments of yours that I've seen so far, looks like you could add plenty to the mix *grin*

(reply to Biggles) posted 30-Aug-2002 8:29pm

I hate the whole political party issue right now anyway. A friend of mine is a conservative republican. He claims that I am a liberal democrat. I'm just a girl who believes in freedom and who believes in helping others. Be that what it may. Most of beliefs fall into the democratic side of the scale, but I really choose no side. I think the country would be a much better place if we stopped choosing sides and chose to fight evil and help others. How hard can that be?

By the way, I live in a fluffy bunny world full of peace and love. I can't help it other don't feel the same way.

Thanks for the welcome. I did a search for a "congratulations on finally losing your virginity" e-card for a friend of mine last week and this site came up on the link. I think the question was "at what age did you lose your virginity". I haven't answered that one yet. Some things are best left unsaid. But for those things that aren't, I'm here. *smile*

I've looked through some of the questions. Much more insightful than I was expecting and I'm very impressed. I'll definitely stick around awhile and cause chaos and mayhem as long as I can.

Nice to meet you.
Biggles
(reply to herbalkate) posted 30-Aug-2002 8:37pm

Political parties can skew a lot of issues. Especially when both your major parties are right wing conservative parties (one of which just so happens to call itself a liberal democratic party) *smile* I'm assuming you're American? I'm British and our political system is in many ways more party based. Sometimes it seems like a good thing but at other times it makes it seem like there are no choices.

The fluffy bunny world sounds pretty good. I live there a lot of the time too. Politics brings out the cynical side in me though! *laughing out loud*

I'm not sure that there's much left unsaid here at SC! *wry smile* It's, er, very open at times. Best not to be easily shocked (or easily led astray, some of the folks here........*wink* )

May your chaos and mayhem be long lived!

Oh wow. You're growing up. I don't know if anyone ever told you, so I'm going to break it to you gently. Um, life sucks.

There's never enough time to have fun or sleep and never enough money to go around and you're going to get your heart broken a million times. But other than that, it's a piece of cake. So have fun and be careful and try not to get cold in the process of living.

Not having enough time to have fun or sleep, not having enough money and getting your heart broken is what university's supposed to be all about *grin* Preparation for the real world I suppose.

I suppose we can just hold on and stick with the ride. If you climb out half-way round a rollercoaster, the results tend to be messy.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don't need another mountain,
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross,
Enough to last till the end of time.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don't need another meadow
There are cornfields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen, lord, if you want to know.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone.
