Not really. I'll have to teach that day. I'll probably at least stop and think about it at some point.
I got called for jury duty for Sept. 11, but I postponed it due to the aforementioned teaching.

Well no, we close the doors about an hour before we stop taking orders over the phone, and there's always a rush before we shut down the phones, and I'm usually not only the only cook, but the only guy available to cut and box up the pizzas, breadsticks, hot wings, et al.  * raspberry * Very exhausting.

If there's a minute's silence held where I am, then I'll respect it and be glad to do so. I don't intend to go out of my way to remember it, but I think that it will be impossible to avoid. I remember it anyway - I think about it often. I don't feel the need to mark the day, one year on, when it happened. It wasn't about a day.

I plan to reflect - in fact, it's already started. I also plan to watch the aired event there at ground zero.
They said they want to make it concise, meaningful, but not to "drag it out".

I'm amazed at all the "no" answers here. I just intend to reflect really, but the media has made it a point to not "drag it out" for everyone, so you're getting your wish.

I have to say, though, 'Fudging red, white and blue' is rather harsh. Especially under the subject of Sept 11.

No. I shall skip the articles which will appear in the newspapers. I won't watch the TV programmes that will be on.

I shall probably try to avoid Americans in case they get all emotional or start demanding sympathy or an ear for their opinion.

There is only so much you can have rammed down your throat. That's why they probably made the decision to keep it brief this time. God forbid they should try and run a 24-hour celebrity telefon or something. You would resent Strawberry Ice Cream if I force fed it to you every hour on the hour.

I agree. I'm actually glad the concensus is to lay low about the whole thing. I didn't appreciate the 'f*cking red, white and blue' comment though, I have to add.
(Sidenote: "concensus" - twice turned it back to "consensus", rested on the - incorrect, mind you - spelling of "concensus". Just one of those words for me, haha.)

September 11 required and requires a dignified, downplayed response, not cheesy video homages and American flags on Cheetos bags. That was why my response was so 'harsh'.

It was a very sad thing that happened, but I honestly dont know would I could do to make anything better. I'll always remember what happened, I mean honestly who can forget it.

Sorry, but we aren't allowed to listen to the radio or to tapes or CD's or talk on the phone while driving. Our boss feels it's too much of a distraction. We all have cell phones in our trucks, but if we get a call from the mattress factory or if we have to get in touch with them then we have to pull over.

I was thinking of flying that day. People thought I was crazy but lets face it, that day will be the safest day EVER to fly in a plane because of security and with fewer planes in the sky

This is to all the people who said they were going to be too busy or they just did not want to do any thing. You people should be ashamed of yourselves! People died in those attacks, and people risked their lives and also died trying to save the ones that were hurt. Just because you are too busy does not mean you can not light a couple of candles, say a prayer, hang a flag, or donate blood. Something is seriously wrong with you people. God help this country.

You cannot compress what those acts and those deaths meant and still mean into a single day. Something is seriously wrong with anybody who believes that September 11th can be adequately appreciated and understood by thinking about it for a single day one year on. There are other things that we should be more concerned about - the shockwaves that are still being felt and still need to be dealt with. The war on terror. The possibility that Bush could invade Iraq against all advice from foreign leaders who understand the delicacy of matters in the Middle East far more than he does. The children who were traumatised by what they witnessed on the television. People who have lost loved ones. And there are so many other things to be considered. There is too much for a date to be meaningful. Too many tragedies that could still happen. And to many people, the idea of remembering a day that has been twisted by Bush so that he can continue his father's personal crusade is wrong. They'd rather remember the truth of that day and doing that is going to be almost impossible on September 11th because of all the media coverage, hype and hysteria.

I will not be lighting candles. I will not be praying. I will not hang a flag. And I will not donate blood. But I won't ever forget. I just choose to voice my concerns as they come up, whenever they come up.

Besides, it would be daft for everybody to donate blood for September 11th. It's waste of their time and the time and money of the blood transfusion service and health workers.

We made some red, white, and blue candles to sell at the craft shows we'll be attending. We also have red and blue star shaped candles. That's about it. Oh, and we also have flag pins to sell and wear. We'll probably wear red, white, and blue to the fairs.

I don't have anything planned, but my circle may do something. We did something on Samhain last year for the survivors and for those who lost their lives. All of us were in the medical field and could related to the firefighters, policemen, and EMTs who lost their lives while trying to save others. That's the choice you make every morning when you wake up and put on your uniform. We raised a cone of power and turned all the pain and anger and negative energies outward as positive and healing energies and sent them to those who needed them.

I'm actually a little afraid that something bad is going to happen on the anniversary this year. There are so many crazy in this world and in this country and some have really stupid ideas. I hope nothing happens, but I'm still worried.

This country was founded on the concept of God. I intend to pray to that God for mercy on this country and protection from it's many enemies.

This whole "war" is frighteningly prophetic and real. If "Babylon" actually does fall In the matter of an hour someday as a long term result of all this apocalyptic catalyst. We are in for the biggest crap storm of them all.

It all goes back to Isreal. I'm not even a Jew and I can see this.

I am not planning anything specific to commemorate on the 11th. I am going to give blood the next week at a blood drive where I work though. (I'm not doing this specifically because of the anniversary though, I would give blood anyway) It doesn't make sense for *everyone* to give blood on the 11th, but I don't think it is ever a waste of time or money for people to give blood. It is necessary!

I happen to work for the US federal government, in a major city on the east coast. I am minorly apprehensive about going to work that day, although I guess I probably shouldn't be scared more than any other day. We had a bomb scare last week when someone had left a briefcase unattended. Fortunately it was a false alarm.
